Elites ?

Crusaders

It may be just that I like the fluff, but most times I put marcus gideon on the board he cleans up pretty well. Last time I fielded him, he pretty much single-handedly took out a troop of Razig's units. (Sadly Razig got to him and I couldn't roll for anything). Almost everytime I've fielded Marcus Gideon he usually drops 4+ models. The other times that he hasn't he's either, a) been completely teamed up on and attacked in every way possible or b.) gotten singled out and rolled poorly. Only drawback in my eyes is the lack of tough.

Another unit I love is halbarad, I can never get enough of fielding such a powerful cleric. Other than that I don't really field any of the other crusader elites. Sometimes I field Damon, but he simply doesn't measure up to his point cost in my experience (that could also be due to the fact that no one has fielded a large model against me when I have Damon on the board).

Necropolis

Sir Osric. Sir Osric. Sir Osric. It could be that I've just been very very lucky with him, but every single time I've fielded Sir Osric he has survived the entire battle (granted I've only fielded him four times so far). Sir Osric just does not seem to go down, especially in larger games. Also, his ability to heal himself is invaluable, and something most melee elites do not have access to.

Another big time winner I have found is Nivar the wraith. Incorporal + rogue = pain. He can pretty much move through anything, so he has a very easy time hitting someone's rear. Only drawback, again, is the lack of tough.

Otherwise, I've only field Sir Dauron once, but he performed really well, pretty much single-handedly held off a troop. Gauntfield has only disappointed him, MAV of 8 is pretty much a waste when anyone on the board can take him out. Like someone above me said, one shot wonder.

Those are most of the ones I've experimented with.

Just remember Non-Corporeal doesn't allow you to move through friendly or enemy models.

That confused me... I thought Non-Corporeal could move through any Undead model? No matter friendly or enemy? SE, you make it seem like they are only effected by terrain... did I miss some errata?

Fielded Gargram, Margara and Kara in my 1501 Dwarf army today, against Reptus, which played Ssudai and T-Kay.

Gargram's dice were chilled to the bone so his poor performance doesn't really count >.>

I loaded Margara out terribly for the scenario we were playing, but that's my fault. Her stats speak for herself and she's a shoe in with every competitive dwarf army I build.

Kara performed wonderfully. I found her a nice, safe spot and was able to critical shot every turn. She got her man each and every time and was instrumental in denying my opponent the ability to use his ranged models effectively. It was a great outing for her, although the scenario rules may have had something to do with the reason my opponent never went after her - too busy securing objectives. Still, RAV 6 sure is impressive. I may use her more often.

I tend to always use T'Kay for my Reptus. Not only is she a fairly good cleric, she's no slouch in combat either. #MA 2 with a MAV of 2 and a DV of 10. I do wish we had a level 3 cleric but all in all T'Kay fits in nicely. If I'm looking to boost my HtH might I'll take Ra'am over Nai Khannon just about every time. I have a hard time getting Nai to kill his points worth while Ra'am hasn't failed in that department. I'm just really starting to experiment with a mage but Ssudai is impressive for his points.

I always have a Cleric in my Nefsokar list. I went with all Mages once and that didn't go so well. I will use a hero sometimes. I really like the support a Cleric provides and the new Nefsokar spells make it even sweeter. I wasn't that interested in the Sokar's Avatar because of its stats and cost. Its an awesome sculpt, but it isn't my playing style. I had a prophet and Fatima healing that beast, while he was mowing down my opponent. I think it is more the combonation of models than a single model. A hero can get taken down quick if he is alone and gets surrounded. Put a few grunts in with the hero and you can kick some butt.

my 2 cents

I almost always include Fatima in my Nefsokar list, unless I'm going 750 or under. She doesn't get a LOT of spells (I have never once used a Canopic Jar), but she does maximize what she takes. Which usually is a couple of bandages to keep my tanks going, and a Hold to help deal with enemy tanks.

I've tried the Reborn, who makes a decent extra melee tank at about 100 points (once I add a weapon). Haven't tried Ibrahim yet, and can't see myself using Thoth. Atifa subs in nicely for Fatima when I run Desert Wind.

I think quite alot of the Reborn, I keep looking at it and thinking 'Gee, I don't know why this model takes so much fla', as I seem to hear people complain about it. It's only apparent weakness is it's MAV 2 value, and at 71 points with Warmaster, 3 tracks, and 2 attacks I can handle that. Being an Elite he can easily be paired with Tomb guards or other models to give him support bonus'.

Granted he is probably the sort of model that actually shines well when given a Moderate Weapon. I can see justifying 30 points when you are doubling a models combat effectiveness and when that model has 3 tracks to gain that +2 MAV on, and Warmaster as well.

Thoth is essentially the same model with Clerical abilities and Tactician. Means you are paying 29 points for an extra card in your favour. I'm willing to pay that. Not sure i'd be dumping many spells onto Thoth, but then again I havn't seen the Nefsokar book (waiting for the Overlords to make my next order from overseas). An emergency bandage might come in handy, so long as you burn it when Thoth is on his first or second track and has a 50-60% chance of casting it. Some times these timely castings can change the fate of a battle. and rarely does blowing 10 points on such a spell if it doesn't work cause you to lose one.

Yeah. I've run the Reborn + MMW once before and liked the combo; it's nice and not quite as expensive as another Avatar.

Thoth... I dunno. I deal with being short-carded all the time (I almost never run with a Tactician on the board in the first place), so it's something I'd have to think hard about.

I don't mind being short carded, so long as I have a decent number of models on the board still. Still, it never hurts to have those extra cards, and with the Nefsokar they lack any sort of cheap solo to gain them, so it is worth thinking about if you find yourself in a situations where the initiative seems to be in your opponents favor alot because they are fielding 2-3 more cards than you.
