Stubbdog
Unless it gets to do some form of strafing run attack I don't want a flying dragon. Or atleast not an all encompassing mega flying dragon. It will be big enough and cost enough without it. Having said that I still want a nasty looking dragon, not a cartoon koi. I want the enemy to think fear when it sees it, not festival. Your beast you drew up is exactly why I did not draw up a dragon in my original post. Because I also wanted a dragon to have stats like that. And I know to have stats like that, it would probably cost around 500 and be standing all alone on the battlefield with no support. To make a dragon really work, it needs to be dissected into 2-3 smaller roll bearing dragons. 1 flyer, 1 caster, 1 melee monster. I could almost see the flying dragons being small and quick more for pinpoint attacks rather than trying to be massive beasts. The caster would be more tactical and cunning with its abilities of the arcane. The melee monster would be the land brute such as the overgrown komodo that WB describes. Yes, Reptus all around has a ton of possible directions to take it. I love the possibilities. That is one of the reasons I started this thread. shakhak
I've been saying these things from the beginning and I still feel strongly about all 3. No Dinosaurs: Dinosaurs have never fit into my idea of a fantasy setting. I feel like it throws everything off balance, and it flat out doesn't feel like fantasy. That and we do not need to mirror GW to make a good game. You want lizards on dinos, they make them else where. Reaper is armed with better sculpters and more imagination. I want my Dragon kin on something swampy, something ferocious, and something that only the minds of Reaper could come up with, and something that pushes the ability of every sculpter they have employed. Avatar of Payanak AKA DRAGON You say the Reptus are of dragon heritage. Prove it. Show me a dragon with Reptus like features, but is still feral enough to be a dragon. I want to see something that even the great demon Rauthorus would be intimidated to battle against. I would be more than happy to see the most expensive model in the entire game end up as a Dragon for Reptus. I've fielded 400+ points before, and for a dragon, I would be willing to do it again. Uru Stuff Uru on a mount Ok, I've come to terms with this not happening. It would kind of flood our high point solo category. And having a Unq. model in two sculpts would force odd rules. It would still be an awesome model to have in the line. Uru, is he really a chief? I would also like to see Uru get an ability similar to Garr the war dog. So he could actually lead other trolls. True troll chief style. Of course I would need another troll sculpt to buy up! :)
spiritual_exorcist
Come on Reaper, give me a Couatl and put these dragon sissies out of their misery. I don't think we've ever seen any sort of official statement that at all links Reptus with Dragons. I wouldn't be the least bit sad if Reptus were not at all connected to Dragons. I'm of the notion that if we do see a Dragon, I would like it to be a flyer, which means you'd have to nix the breath weapon in my mind. I'm a big fan of the Western style Dragon, but not all that partial to the Eastern style.
Hellsgate
Well first of all our god and source of all life by our beliefs (if you read the archers description) is THE great Dragon Payanak. Though i can't find anywhere that it says "the Reptus are of draconic blood" i think it's fair to make the assumption. As for the more oriental dragon, they're more snake like a flowing and more often than not have manes/hair like bits. While the European dragons are more stocky an muscular and almost never have anything that could represent hair. Reptus well there muscular and clean shaving, and I personally think they look better, so my votes for the European type.
drjsallison
In regards to the east vs. west discussion..... Reading the fluff in the core rulebook and for each of the units, it seems that they are based quite strongly on an oriental culture. Being privy to lots of reaper folk on a regular basis I know the big influance was VERY Thai. From the half Thai creator (Matt R.) to their city lined in pagoda temples and stupas, to the actual use of several Thai words in their descriptions. It is clear to me this is an oriental style culture and an oriental dragon would make the most sense. Oriental dragons are more serpentine than the all lizard western dragons (except the Norse Linorms). Since the Nagendra are also worshipers of Payanak and of his descent as well, it only stregthens the oriental theme. Interjecting my opinion, I love the look of western dragons, but I think oriental dragons add a good spicy flavor to the story. (...and not curry either). Either way, I love the way this thread is tossing a load of creative ideas around. Keep 'em coming guys.
smokingwreckage
Hybridise the dragon, like Tolkien's cold-drakes, which are really quite Eastern in a lot of repects. I think a massive serpentine dragon would be cool, but the preponderance of shoulder-thingies in Reptus warrior culture could be a reference to a winged dragon. Dragons with goaties however don't rock my world.

I completely agree with this, anything on dinosaurs, except cowboys, doesn't work for me. Lots of stuff in the jungle (like giant spiders ) to use as mounts. All kinds of bugs(beetles, dragonflys), snakes, pigs, tigers, Monkeys or elephants.. The list goes on and on. But ya, skip the dinosaurs. It's been done to death. These are the Reptus, not lizardmen!!!!

Darkknight107
I know the flying adepts have all been to expensive in the past but maybe if we were to get a flying adept without ranger it would be more affordable. Maybe it is just me but i have never found ranger useful. I wouldn't mind a unit that has a special abilty that makes it invisble to archery. Chameleon Reptus!!! shakhak
If it came down to Flying Vs Innate: Fireball or a ranged attack with Blowthrough, I would choose Fireballs or Blowthrough in a heart beat. But with the Reptus having their back spikes, I suspect wings on our payanak. I also suspect a snake like body and arcane abilities. In the Nagendra fluff it says that although the Reptus won't admit it, they know that the Nagendra are closer to Payanak. I imagine if we get a dragon, it will be similar to the Great Demon. Big muscles and all the punch of heavy hitter, flight, and arcane fire power. I wouldn't be surprised if they tweak it to make it a better caster(similar to the angel but a Mage). That's something I would love to have. And it kind of pleases everyone... Mages scale, so if you want a cheap one, fill her up with Ice Shards and Dispels. You want a beefy dragon of death that rains down fire from the sky. Load her up with duel firestorms and scares. .... I'm excited about this already... and it's just vaper metal and vaper stats.
