Ghaz
I just picked up the Old Bronze today as I think it will look great on some Circle Orboros miniatures I'm working on but I'm stymied as to how to shade and highlight the color and the other two colors in the triad as well. Any suggestions?
Rastl
Quickest way is to use Adamantium Black and Pearl White to do the shading/highlighting blends. Or you can do demi-metallics by adding other non-metallic colors.
ixminis
I've used colors like walnut and blackened brown as my shade for bronze and gold metallics... although a dark green could work as well. I'll use something like linen for the highlight. If I use pearl white, it'll only be on the highest end to represent a hotspot/reflection that is so bright no color comes through
FreeFall
I'd use Scorched Metal for my shadow color. I would think that you could take your highlights right into the first golds triad, though I haven't tried it.
Reaper User Vaitalla Posted October 11, 2006 Reaper User Share Posted October 11, 2006 Old Bronze actually highlights best by mixing in New Gold (from the original golds triad) and shades best by mixing in Adamantium Black if you're looking to keep the greenish tone. Tarnished Brass shades well with Scorched Metal and likewise can have New Gold mixed into it for a highlight. Pewter would shade by mixing in Adamantium Black, and highlight by mixing in Pearl White. --Anne
Ghaz
Thanks for the replies everyone. It looks like I need to pick up some New Gold next time I'm at the FLGS.

It was one of my favorites for chain mail.
