Marlfox
I'm painting my GW dwarf army (I know, blaspheme), and I want to paint their cloaks, surcoats and whatnot in autumn colors. I'm thinking dark greens, reds and yellows. I was looking through the triads on the online store and i like the look of the terracotta reds and ochre golds. What would all you painting gurus suggest for my triads?
Reaper User Vaitalla Posted October 26, 2006 Reaper User Share Posted October 26, 2006 For greens, Jungle Moss is a good dark green. Highlight it by adding Palomino Gold, or any yellow if you want it a bit brighter. Terracotta reds would be good, though they go a little pink at the upper end (Fired Clay) so you may wish to mix with Burnt Orange for your highlight. The Ruddy Leather/Oiled Leather/Burnt Orange triad in general wouldn't be bad for brownish-orangey leaves. And yes, the Ochre Golds (besides giving you the aforementioned Palomino Gold) would be great as well, and Chestnut Gold is a great golden leather brown. --Anne
Ghaz
Also note there is an Autumn Brown triad coming out in December.
Artists Wren Posted October 27, 2006 Artists Share Posted October 27, 2006 I like earth tones and fall colour schemes a lot, and use a lot of rust/chestnut/mahagony and ruddy leather/oiled leather/burnt orange. I haven't played a lot with the terracotta triad yet, but the paints to my eye have a pinky/purply undertone I wouldn't use for a true fall colour scheme. Palomino would be my top choice for an autumn type yellow.
