Unglef
Heleger shouts "Innyboody got a cloob? Mah axe ain't workin'!" as he takes another swing at the monstrosity. Attack: 1d20(17) +6 =23. Damage 1d10(3) +3 =6.
haldir
Rd #2 continue: Tolan You grit your teeth, as you are able to fight off the poison that courses through your veins & the pain of the piercing bite of the unnatural creature. You respond by throwing a blast of energy into it's face, the energies spark around it & it does 4 pts of damage to it. Lavinia She sees Tolan doesn't go down due to the bite & decides its best she stay back & lets the others do the fighting. I mean, you are getting paid by her Rd 2 end, Rd 3 start Yarrin Moving your hand in a pattern, you utter a magical word & a small but bright flame appears in your hand, it illuminates the area. As the flame appears in your hand, the cobra takes a quick strike at you, but you are able to pull your hand back without no harm done. (AoO due to spell cast with 1 standard action) Vieta You can shoot this round (reloading a pistol is a standard action btw) as you said you were reloading last round. Tolan You fire your hellfire at the beast, but the blast just bounces off the metal hide (didn't strike it) Cobra[/color][/b] The Cobra strikes at you again, Tolan. Apparently it's either mindless & is attacking you or it just doesn't like you for some reason. The strike is quick but way off, your blast must have messed up something in his head..... Heleger You cry out for a club & strike down onto the beast. Again the strike is sure, but again there is little damage to the thing. It bears the scars of your strike & that of your companions but the thing just won't go down!!! (Damage for 6 pts) Lavinia She is starting to get ancy just sitting back & not doing anything, she moves over to the entrance of the 2nd chamber & reaches into the bag she brought with her, producing a small glass bottle with gold liquid inside, the swirling liquid catches the light & glitters. Gil You try to strike it, but have to avoid it's tail as it sweeps under your feet, not in a tripping action, just it's there & you misjudge it & swing at air in your attempt to strike. Rd #3 end (open thou for Veita actions)
Vinny
"Well, this is quite an opponent." Vieta says with a grin to Lavinia while he reloads his pistol. He stands and waits, observing the battle, while leaning against the pillar, carefully filling his pistol with powder and shot.
Voladilk
Rd #3 Action: Tolan, encouraged by the effect that his last blast had on the cobra, unleashes another blast at the thing. (Attack roll: 10+2 = 12 if successful dmg - 4) Rd #4 Action: Getting more and more frustrated with the cobra, Tolan looses another blast of energy at it. (Attack roll: 12+2 = 14 if successful dmg - 1)
Unglef
Heleger swings his axe yet again, trying to overcome the thing's resilience with pure dwarven muscle and fury. Attack: 1d20(6) +6 =12. Damage (if necessary): 1d10(8) +3 =11.
CuCulain42
Gil will continue with his attack, knowing that he is being ineffective. He does start watching the tail a bit more. (Attack roll=Nat 20--Dmg=2-2=min of 1) OOC-Wow, what a waste of a nat 20.
Outkast Samurai
Focusing his thoughts Yarrin thrusts the flame towards the serpent's eyes. (Attack roll:8)
haldir
Rd #3 continued Veita--You size up the beast in your gun sight & let loose anther blast, the smoke filling the area, & a loud pow deafens those near for a couple secs as the hammer stikes the frizzen & the bullet flies toward the cobra, but as the bullet flies past it's intended target, it almost strikes the dwarven companion, but he moves at the last second & it richocets off the stone wall, harmlessly. Rd #3 END, Rd #4 Yarrin You from your hand into claw as you trust with the magical fire toward the creature in a attempt to strike it, but it moves it's head out of the way easily. Veita (waiting actions) Tolan Seeing the creature distracted by Yarrin's attack, you fire a blast & try to strike it in the head, but the speed of the creature is too much & it doges the blast. Cobra Seeing that you've tried to strike it with the flame, the cobra focuses his attack on you Yarrin. It tries to strike your arm as you pull back, but Tolan's blast distracts it enough to cause it to miss. Heleger Seeing the snake distracted by the spellcaster, you take a mighty swing with your axe & come down fast onto the creature, your axe bites into the tail of the creature & severs it cleanly, but amazingly the creature still lives!! Lavinia She sees that Heleger has damage the creature & she cries out "YES!!!", all the while holding the bottle of liquid. Gil Seeing the area that is damaged by Heleger, you focus your attack on that, & somehow your blade is effective!! You strike the vulnerable insides of the creature with your rapier & it goes ridgid & falls to the ground, unmoving. END COMBAT The creature is dead from what everyone can tell. (OOC--he he, you spellcasters are lucky, I didn't read the SR part of the creature, ha ha & yes it only had 1 hp left when Gil struck it, LOL)
Voladilk
Tolan bends over, exhausted from unleashing so much power over so short a time. "What WAS that thing??!!" he asks the group.
Outkast Samurai
extinguishing the flame from his hands Yarrin walks cautiously over to it. "I can't really say other than it is nothing that nature has produced. Any idea Lady Lavinia?"
CuCulain42
Gil looks at Lady Lavina. "Is this," he asks kicking the construct for emphasis, "a family inserted protection or something someone else added?"
haldir
"Your guess is as good as mine." Lavinia says, "Everything is new to me, the symbol, why there is nothing in this chamber, now a hidden chamber, & then that snake like creature." she puts the bottle away & walks over to the cobra. She examines it, lifting the head "Its heavy, & from the looks of it solid metal, & your right Yarrin, nothing on it is natural, see?" She shows you even the eyes are nothing but colored stones, "I have no idea what it is or if it's a guardian. Maybe it was put here, by someone or something, that might explain why this chamber is empty. A going-away present you might say." (Anyone with Knowledge(Arcana) can make a check if they'd like). She peaks into it's hiding spot, "Hmm, looks almost the size for it to hide, plus those symbols on it's hood, maybe it is a guardian, but no guardian I've heard of, or at least from my parents, then again they never really talked about the vault anyways." she says. "Well it appears this room is empty, maybe looted already or maybe just a false chamber with the appearance of that passageway there. Shall we enter the next room? This time I'll take your advice Sir Heleger, I will let everyone investigate first before I enter. The excitement of that battle was almost enough to knock the adventuring spirit out of me, but of course not enough to see what is in that next room. she says & gestures to the party to move forward. She waits for anyone to enter the next room & check it out to make sure it's safe. The first person to enter see this This octagonal room is supported by a single large pillar with dozens of deep groves along its sides. The seven walls of this room each bear fantastically detailed bas-relief carvings of exotic mosnters in threatening poses. Starting at the wall immediately to the west of the entrance to the room & moving clockwise, the carvings depicts the following: a tentacled monster with a glaring red eye & a mouth full of teeth a looming dragon a fish-like creature with 3 eyes & 4 tentacles a 2-headed giant wielding a pair of immense clubs a spherical creature with 4 eye stalks & a bulging central eye over a drooling maw a gorilla-like beast with a fanged maw & 6 eyes a towering black spider with 7 eyes. Each monster's eye consist of a glittering red stone. The ceiling above is only 10 feet high, with the now familiar eight-pointed star pattern radiating out from the grooved pillar. The arms of the star black, save for the pointing south toward the entrance, which is red. The room only has the light of the giant 8 point star symbol from the other room to light it, thus the chamber is mostly in shadows, a torch or something will be needed to fully light & see the room. Voladilk
Tolan takes a closer look at the dead cobra after he has caught his breath (Knowledge Arcane check - 12 +1 = 13), trying to recall if he has ever seen anything like this before or read about it in his father's library. Once he has finished studying it, he moves in behind those entering the darkened chamber, peering about with his enhanced vision.
Unglef
Heleger spits at the thing on the floor. "Ah, joost git away froom it. It's a oonnatooral beast, it is. Nut woorth stoodyin'." He checks his axe for any major damage, decides it will do for now, and moves into the next room. Standing just inside the dorway, he searches for another possible threat to the lady. He sees the figures on the wall, and thinks about the note, but doesn't see the monsters described. Search check:
haldir
Heleger Your search check, finds nothing in the chamber that would come to harm your employer but you find that the central pillar moves back & forth & each time it gives a mechanical sounding "click" each time it moves. As you turn the pillar, you notice it "clicks" 8 times from the point of the door to doing a 360 back to the door. Also you note, the eight point star in the floor moves with you, with the red pointed one moving with the "clicks" (ending back at the door--points toward the door like it was when you entered). The red pointer & click each end up at the various statues each time you turn. Tolan You recall something in your studies. You recall the creature to be a iron cobra. Your recall thou is only good enough to know the things are made by a powerful wizard & are usually setup as a silent assassin creature or in this case a guardian Lavinia seeing that nothing has come to Tolan or Heleger, she enters the room with the lantern (note disregard the part with the light, I forgot she lit one before entering the vault) & all she says in awe is "Wow. What do you make of this?" she says to Heleger.
