Voladilk
"That's right! Daemon cursed I am! Run like you have never run before!" Tolan shouts at the thug's back as he runs away. He then continues on towards his previous destination, used to such events and no longer disturbed by them. He does pause briefly to search the dead man's pockets for anything useful or valuable. haldir
Tolan The man doesn't even look back as you shout, it almost appears that your words put some more speed into his legs, as he disappears around a corner. As you kneel down & search the man, you find a couple of silvers but nothing else. Pocketing the coins you continue to make your way over to the boat shop run by Panchi the dwarf. As you get about a few buildings away from the scene, out of the corner of your eye you catch movement & turn, what you see are 3 men, in rags descend on the corpse like vultures & they strip the man's clothing away, leaving nothing but a bare corpse. One of them sees you & instantly they scatter back into the shadows. Knowing all to well how life in Shadowshore can be, you carry on like you didn't see anything. Making you way south on Gull Street then on to Harbor Way, you make your way north past the gondola station to a run down shack, the roof you can see has a severe sag in it, you wonder how it can even hold out the rains. Sitting outside on a wooden stool leaning backwards against the building is a old sea-weathered dwarf whittling on a piece of wood with a dagger. His beard is white & short & run along his cheeks & chin & he is bald. He has a scar across his forehead & is wearing a large gold hoop earring in one ear. He is dressed in typical clothing of the area, a loose vest & loose pants, he is also bare-feet, Panchi you presume. He sees you & says "Can I help ya?" without stopping his whittling or even looking up at you. Vieta "Ehhh, keep it, but if I hear a gun blast, I know where to look." the bouncer says & folds his arms across his chest & resumes his eyeful watch of the place. As you move away, Yarrin says "That was a close one. You almost had me convinced it was a dud with that speech of your's, ha ha. Let see what we can find here, let split up, maybe we'll get more info that way." & he moves off to the bar, leaving you the tables. You make your way over to one, where a man, a seadog from the looks & smell of him is sitting enjoying a brew. He sees you staring at him & he asks. "Arrr, you wanna a date, thar or be yah admirin' me good looks A pence for an old man o'de sea?" & he awaits your answer.
Unglef
"Thanks a loot, friend," Heleger says to the half-elf, and tosses him a coin. He turns to Gilhurst. "Less go an' see if our friend's hoome, shall we?"
Vinny
Vieta nods at the bouncer and enters, keeping his hand on his belt, close to his gun. When he splits up, he moves next to the old seadog and takes a seat across from him at a stable. Vieta flicks a gold coin at the old man and leans back. He waves for a wench, and when she notices him, he says: "Aye, a drink for me and the old matey, if ya please. Grog..." He turns to the old sailor. "You come here a lot, old man? Which boat are ya from?"
haldir
Heleger As you leave the tavern, Gil pipes in & says "Big manor home with a big white wall, um Heleger that is The Vanderboren Manor. Ha ha, I'd know the wall anywhere." After realizing the half-elf description is the home of your employer you decide to check elsewhere in Merchant District, but to no avail, no more information can be turned up other then that yes, Vanthus has been around but no one has seen him for quite some time. After using about a four hours of the day, you decide that asking in Merchant District about Vanthus is just a empty request, so you & Gil decide to head west over to Cudgel District & ask around there. Also Gil decided that maybe it's best to cover this district by splitting up, that way to cover more ground. He decides to take the Southern part of the district. "Lets meet back here around 7 or so. If we can't come up with anything we'll head back to the manor. Agreeing, Gil disappears down a street. Not knowing this district, you realize that your standing in front of a giant church, the symbol on the wall is a cross with a double iron circle around it (make a Knowledge Check:Religion) Vieta The serving girl gets the drinks for you & your new mate & sets them down. After you drop the coins on the tray, she leaves. The man see you are looking for information (he does bite into the coin you tossed him first). "Aye, matey. So what ye be wantin'?" "I be captain o' The Lady, Lady Antebellum t' be proper.. A grand 'essel, that she is. Why do ye ask?" He gives a raised eyebrow look upon finishing. After downing the drink he had, he reaches for the one you bought & begins to to sip that one.
Vinny
"The Lady Antebellum, eh? I think I might have seen this ship moored on the waters. So you are her skipper?" Vieta muses, sipping his drink. "Oh, just curious. I might end up looking for work on yer boat, cap'n. One of these days... But right now, I need something else." Vieta leans in closer. He slides another gold coin across the table towards the old sailor. "So Cap'n... you must see a lot of people come and go. Know of a man by the name of Vanthus? Vanthus Vanderboren? Classy bugger with a beard and fancy clothing, perhaps? Know anything about him?"
haldir
Vieta "Aye, lad. Captain Prichard is my name, but for you call me Prich'." "I see many people here & aboard me own ship. Heck I've even toss over a few lubbers in the watery depths while at sea. You look like you'd do well on my ship & not just crow's nest duty either, ha ha" the old pirate take a long drink of the brew you ordered for him.Using the coin you just gave him, he motions a serving girl over & has her bring a couple more. She sets one down in front of you, giving you a smile as she departs. "Vanthus, Vanthus. That name sounds very familiar, thou I can't recall where I know it from." he looks over to anther table & calls out "Jenks, get over here!" a scrawny man with glasses, probably in his 30s gets up from a table of people & rushes over. "Yes Cap'n?" he sounds as he gets near "This be my logmaster, Mister Jenks, he'd know." "How do you do?" the man extends a hand to you. "Jenks, you recall a Vanthus Vanderboren on my ship?" Captain Prichard says. "No sir, I don't. the Vanderborens are nobles in the Merchant District. Verik Vanderboren thou had a ship thou in the harbor, the Blue Nixie I believe is what she was called. Sea Merchant like yourself, sir." Mister Jenks says. "Ah, yes now I remember. Thank you Mr Jenks" the old man says & the man returns to his table. "Any thing else you want to know about..." Captain Prichard isn't done finishing what he is saying when all of a sudden a loud crash interrupts the conversations. All eyes are on the bar where a large man has Yarrin headfirst onto the bar. he has a broken bottle in his hand & is about to use it!!!!!! Voladilk
"If you'd be Panchi then you might be of some assistance to me matey," Tolan replies to the dwarf's brusque manner. "I am looking for some work and heard that an old acquaintance of mine might have bought a boat from you. Goes by the name Penkus. Ever heard of 'im?" Vinny
Haha! His name sounds like Prick... poor bugger... Vieta was about to begin inquiries on the captain's knowledge of the Vanderboren naval affairs when the fight erupts near the bar. Instinctively, Vieta draws his pistol and cocks it, aiming for the head and torso region of the man brawling with Yarrin. Realizing as he draws figure 8s with his sight that he might hit Yarrin instead and that the bouncer might realize his gun was armed, Vieta mutters several curses even sea dogs find offensive. He glances at Prich, and gives a strange grin, considering the circumstances. "Sorry, Cap'n Prich. That be my mate Yarrin about to get his ugly face made even uglier... If you would excuse me..." With that, he holsters his pistol, grabs the chair he was sitting in by its backrest, and swinging it in both hands, charges at the brawl, attacking Yarrin's aggressor. With a great battle howl, he rushes past the crowd and swings the wooden furniture like a massive club. (attack roll- 5 (1 ( ) +4))
Unglef
Knowledge (religion) check: 1d20(14) +2 =16. Heleger looks about himself, trying to take in all the strange sights and sounds. He has really been too busy since he arrived to notice anything about it. It seems strange to the dwarf that he feels so exposed in an aboveground city. This is a new feeling, because, really it's his first experience in a human city, and he never feels this way when in the wilderness, traveling. He stares up at the huge building, admiring the stonework, before shrugging his shoulders and walking to the door. "Good enoof place ta start as inny," he grumbles to himself. haldir
Heleger Instantly recognizing the symbol as that of St. Cuthbert of the Cudgel. A lawful neutral human god of Wisdom, Dedication, and Zeal, thou in a more along the lines of Retribution & Punishment of sins. As you get to the door & turn the handle, you are greeted by a small room. On the walls are various pictures of a middle aged man in full plate, in anther one the same man wears a crumpled travelling hat with the armor, but in all of them he is wielding a large spiked mace. There is no on in the foyer, but a set of double doors is open. You make your way into the next room, the main worship hall. It is a large room with a vaulted ceiling, with pillars spaced every 10 feet apart along the walls, each draped with the iron cross symbol & the colors of St Cuthbert. There are wooden pews & at the far end there is a podium with the iron cross symbol. As you look around, a middle age man wearing a light colored robe at his side is a small wooden club, along with the cross around his neck comes from a doorway behind the podium. He sees you & walks towards you. "Welcome to his majesty's grand hall, may I help you sir dwarf? the man says. Tolan "Aye, I'm Panchi. Thou I know you be lyin as Penkus have no friends, just enemies & biznez pahtnahs." the dwarf says to you. As you look a bit surprised at his response & are ready to reply, he starts to chuckle & says "but you didn't say you were his friend now did I." the dwarf stops whittling, but doesn't stand up. "Aye, I know the man, angry as the sea some days. Over the littlest things too. If he was a drinkin, you best not be around him or he'd be liable to stick a dirk in yer belly. I recall him & some fancy lad came here one day & bought a boat from me, but they started to argue before & after the sale with me, cause I wouldn't sell them at a discount price, said the boat wasn't worth the cost! I beg to differ, as my boats are all in great shape & are made of top quality wood imported as far as Menowood in IDEE!" the dwarf raises his voice at thought of sale. A quick glance at his inventory of boats, shows that some are nice, but most are pretty bad shape. "Don't tell anyone but I did give them a bit of discount, as I was hurtin for a sale that week, but I didn't pay much attention to them after they did the sale. I had their gold & honestly I didn't give a damn what they were gonna do with it." the dwarf says, he spits something he was chewing on, to the ground. "Hmmm, I do recall they did buy some supplies as well from me afterwards. Allot of lamp oil, lanterns & few bundles of rope. Looks like they were goin somewhere. Not sure exactly, they head west thou afterwards." he says. "That all, I'm kinda busy." Panchi says Vieta "No by all means." Captain Prichard says, as you walk over to the quarrel & grab your chair & take a swing at the man, hoping to catch him off guard. But your swing is wild & with a mighty wiff, you swing pass him & the chair catches a rather large woman. The blow knocking her to the ground! With wide eyes, she stands & says, "Why you little pri**!" & she takes a swing at you with a meaty looking fist. The swing is off, as she stumbles a bit, still feeling the effects of the chair. "He he, nice one laddy!!" Captain Prichard shouts. "Thanks!" is all you hear from Yarrin, as the man grinds his face into the wood of the bar. "After you I go after your would be savior, well if Mad Marie doesn't get him first. HA HA HA, the ogre-like man says. INITIATIVE!!
Voladilk
Tolan takes in all the dwarf has said to him. As he turns to leave he says, "That would be all I need at the moment. Thanks for your time mate. If'n you hear of any work let me know." He tosses the dwarf a gold coin and starts to walk away. As he takes a few steps he stops and asks, "Just one more thing mate. Do you know what they named the boat and where it be docked?"

haldir
Tolan the dwarf surprised a bit as the coin lands in his lap. "You best not be tossing coins around like that in the 'shore, lad. It might bring unwanted attention." Panchi says "That boat you be lookin for had no name. You mustn't be familiar with the workins of the sea. Ships get their names from their cap'n." Panchi says as he bites in the coin, squinting a eye he says "That may have been why those two lubbers were arguing, he someone might have wanted to play cap'n." "As far as where she be, I haven't a clue. I only sell them. Once they leave my yard. I could care less where they are." the dwarf goes back to his whittling. Almost to a point where he doesn't even know your there anymore. Vieta Initiative Yarrin 19 barfighters 16 Vieta 9 Yarrin feels the pressure on the big man's meaty hands as he grinds his head into the bar, but somehow is able to punch the man into the "man-zone" with a wild swing. The big man howls as he lets go of the druids head. He swings in retaliation but the lingering pain of the blow causes him to swing wide. The woman swings a fist at you Vieta but you sidestep her & misses badly. You counter with the chair & smash it over her head, shattering the chair in the process. Your left with leg & some wood good for the fire now. The woman slumps to the ground, she doesn't move. "Oi, GOOD SHOT MAN!!" Cap. Prichard says over the crowd of people that have gathered to watch the brawl. "You!" the man says "No, both of you!" he shouts at both you & Yarrin "Finish what you started." he says as he points to you Vieta "All this over a name!"
