The Kingdom of Mordant

"Dymitri, what brings you back to us now? Last I knew you were off to visit your father on his death-bed." asks Reg.

Dymitri looks at his friend, a bit shocked, and replies, "Oh, no my friend...as far as my last note from home my father is still as chipper as ever. I left for myself, I had to do something."

Leaving it as that he takes another drink, and continues, "Why I am here, and how I came to be with you again is another story..."

Dymitri goes on to tell his story, the "quest" he took up, how he came to meet Kaylie and how he came to carry the crystal key around his neck. When he is done he says, "So, it seems we are on the same path as it where, and very possibly for the same reasons." he pauses looking at old friends and new, then continues again, "Would you have us," motioning to Kaylie, "in your company?"

"Of course, you have no need to ask." Replies Reg "We have shed blood together that counts for much."

[minipainter]

"I had to ask." Dymitri chuckles

"For we have a long road ahead of us, and it's not going to be easy."

With that, Dymitri smiles, looks at Kaylie approvingly, then finishes his drink, and takes some bread and meat to feed the hunger in his belly.

It's good to be in the company of friends, old and new." he thinks to himself.

"Welcome to the group." Tarail says. "Now that we have concluded that order of business, we should probably devise a plan for our journey. While the reprieve in this little hamlet has been pleasant, I feel that we should not tarry here too long and need to get on with our quest."

"Agreed," Reg nods to Tarail.

 

Turning to Dymitri and Kaylie "are you prepared to leave at first light? Hang on do you have rooms for the night?" Reg hops up and speaks to the innkeeper, securing another room for the party, then sits back down.

 

"Okay there is a room here if you need it. Kaylie, you mentioned you know this area and can also guide us to the temple we seek?"

[Lady Tam]

Kaylie looks up and says. "Actually I know the area in passing...but I know where the temple is. And once we reach the westerns edge of the moors I can take us there." She watches them all for the reaction to this bit of news.

[Stern Kestrelmann]

"At first light then", the hukling half-orc rumbles as he looks to Reginald, then to Kaylie for confirmation.

Reg nods and informs the rest of the party, bids them goodnight, before heading to bed to pack his gear.

"Agreed," Reg nods to Tarail.

Turning to Dymitri and Kaylie "are you prepared to leave at first light? Hang on do you have rooms for the night?"

Dymitri nods to his friend, "Yes, I believe we are, or will be ready by first light...and no we do not have a room."

Reg hops up and speaks to the innkeeper, securing another room for the party, then sits back down.

Dymitri then hails one of the servers and asks about stabling, Kaylie and his, mounts for the evening. He relays where the must be picked up from, and drops, him/her a silver coin for their trouble.

Dymitri waves to Reg as he leaves, then turns to Kaylie and asks, "May I walk you to your room? Tomorrow, will be a long day, and you should be rested."

Archibald wakes up, makes a "Bleaurg" noise, and wafts up to the rafters and falls back asleep.

Lanae sits quietly as the new comers tell their story. Normally she would have flooded them with questions, however she has been reflecting upon her outburst and is quite embarrassed about it.

 

"It is a pleasure getting to know you both," Lanae says to Dymitri and Kaylie as she stands. She gives a shy smile to the group and excuses herself to her room for the night.

Tarail finishes his meal in silence. I guess that's that he muses before heading upstairs to bed himself, accutely aware that this will be his last night in a real bed for quite some time.

Telener sits in the corner, carefully writing on a slighty stained peice of parchment he sometime aquisitioned from his belongings.

Candles burn low as the satr traverse the night sky. Soon the golden glow of dawn graces the eastern sky. The small hamlet bustles to life as people awaken to start thier day.

Reg having gotten up an hour or so before the dawn to do some much needed exercises, starts readying the horses and gear for the coming trek to the temple. Humming a couple of old tunes to himself, the brisk morning air brings his spirits up.
