ecs05norway
In my experience, the 'spirit of the rules' has always been "This is supposed to be FUN, people." ;) I'd say the mod Bruunwald is talking about would be quite kosher. Bruunwald
Trolls with mechanical arms? What game do you play with them? Right now I use them in various RPGs. I make them mostly for those and for fun. But it never hurts to ask. As I have a growing collection of them in various states of uh... cyber-iffic-ness-itude, I have begun to wonder what other games I might sneak them into. Shakandara
I have a hopefully interesting question. The proxy rules say you can't substitute with a non-Reaper model, but what about a mostly Reaper model? For instance, I have a bad, bad habit of taking Warlord ogres and DH trolls and lopping off arms to replace them with Warjack arms (from Warmachine). Bump. Gus, can we get an official ruling on this? Specifically, can non-Reaper parts be used in a conversion? If the answer is yes, how much of the model must be Reaper? For example, could you have cavalry that use Reaper mounts but another manufacturer's riders? How about the reverse (Reaper rider w/ other maunfacturer's mount)? ~v
CrispyMerc
We are four guys who play Warlord. We use substitutes a lot(especially me who mostly plays mercs). We haven't had any problems so far(but we never play more than 750 points, so that may be one of the reasons for it working well). We just say it must be very clear what the substituted model is. Man with spear = man with spear. Anyone being a solo or leader, better look a little more special than the rest. We use old remains from "Evil Company tm" even remains from way back D&D days from companies we don't know. Our local store doesn't have a full range of Warlord, and it ussually takes a looong time to order them overseas. Much of the new stuff we have bought is Dark Heaven, just because we think reaper makes some of the coolest models. I am not a big fan fan of the name thing either. I just think of it as "spellcasting warlord", "Stealth solo" and "Bow captain". ...and ofcourse this is a super cool game, and we have had much fun playing it (we could however use a scenario/campaign book..hint hint )
Ddot
I always thought of "Javolith" as something that could be a title myself. Kinda curious on the non-Reaper "parts" for conversions in case I ever made it to an official tournament, as I have a metric tonne of a particular model from WHF with really cool weapons; dismembering 5-20 of them for conversions would be no real loss to the current collection as I no longer play the game (we have two other WHF players in the area and they have insisted on the current edition, my distaste for which is well documented) The rules themselves make good sense as long as everyone understands what is what before the games commence. I like it as I found a great "dark elf priest" model who would be a great Javo... The spiked mace just screams "Gruesome Weapon."
DSModels
1) Official models that are unpainted, primed, or painted a single color are acceptable and allowed for use in any official event. 3) Generic substitutions from any Reaper lines are allowed for use as Non-Unique models in any official event. Here's one I need answered. The Stone Spirit doesn't actually have a model or at least no # associated with it on the card. I know others may have used the Greater earth Elemental as a Proxy but it's no longer available (P-65) with out paying an "arm and a leg" on eBay. So could I with a small bit of conversion to eliminate most of the skeletal bits, be able to proxy http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Warlord/sku-down/14150#detail/14150_jb for it? I love this model! Thanks
Shakandara
You don't even need to convert it; you can proxy it as is. However, if you wait about a month or so, the Bones version of the Stone Spirit (77185) will be available then. The pre-release info has it at $6.99, but we'll see whether or not that price actually holds at release (it is a very big model, though not especially complex, so the price may be accurate). EDIT: Also note that the whole non-unique thing doesn't apply any more. That was changed several years back. I'll look for the post, but it should be in this thread. EDIT2: And here it is, just one page back in the thread. ~v Edited March 22, 2013 by Shakandara
DSModels
Thanks Shak. One more ? if I may. The Kragmarr have the Forge Titan and a model #14629 but I can't pull that up on the store. You wouldn't know of a link to this so I can see what it looks like?
Shakandara
Forge Titan has not been released yet. Feel free to proxy any other model for it (I've been using a fire giant warrior). ~v
psyberwolfe1
Thanks Shak. One more ? if I may. The Kragmarr have the Forge Titan and a model #14629 but I can't pull that up on the store. You wouldn't know of a link to this so I can see what it looks like? To get your proxy juices flowing this is my Forge Titan http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/golem/latest/03204#detail/IG_1988_1 This one would be good too. http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/golem/latest/02728#detail/IG_2180_1
ObsidianCrane
I'll be using the Battleguard Golem (the first link in psyberwolfe's post) as my Forge Titan, mostly because its in the Bones KS and so getting multiples will be easy later and I have one coming from the KS as well. smokingwreckage
Not kosher I'm sure, but here's a really titanic forge titan: http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=221_222_45&products_id=289 I own one. A bit dated but very cool, and also very large.
ObsidianCrane
Well for tournament play that isn't ok, all Reaper modls are fair game, but non-Reaper are indeed not kosher. Though he's a bit small this is another mini I've considered for the Forge Titan: 60142: Golden Guardian
Bonwirn
quick clarification request on proxy rules... Say I have 3 Ivy Crown Archers in one troop, and 2 ICA in another troop. I don't have 5 identical archer models. Could I use 3 identical models in the first troop and different 2 identical models in the second troop and they all be considered ivy crown archers? This would let help me know which troop they were in easier. Would this lead to confusion? Or would the data cards with both pictured on them be of help? joshuaslater
The pose doesn't matter as long as you and your opponent know which troop they are with.
