Christopher777
Hello, I was wondering if testors dullcote was any good ? My concern is that it will make models look lifeless. I currently spray with Krylon UV Protect Crystal Clear Gloss for protection, but hate the glossy look. I want to dull it a bit, but I am worried that dullcote will take all the effects of my painting away. Thanks C
Spartan6
I've never had a single problem using Dullcote but I use it primarily on CAV stuff. The Warlord mini's I've dullcoated look fine to me too though.
smokingwreckage
Depending on the colours and shading, some minis can look BETTER with a dull coat. However, if you try it and don't like it, just put another layer of gloss over top- I'm assuming that will work fine. It worked OK for me earlier today. Mr.Wizard
Dull-Cote is a very durable coating, which helps the warlord, warhamster folks. It is not water-based, so make sure your paint is completely dry before applying.

Moderator TaleSpinner Posted January 23, 2007 Moderator Share Posted January 23, 2007 Dullcote is all I ever use on my minis. Me too. Make darn sure that your washes and liners are fully dry before using it though. TS
Lahatiel
I, too, use DullCote on pretty much everything. But you're already using Krylon so you know their range of options is rather extensive, so if you try DullCote and find it's too flat for you, try a Krylon satin and it should fall in the middle for you. Lorderl
Dullcote works great!, I've never had a problem, hell I keep 3-4 cans on hand as I hate to run out. If you want to see how it looks on minis do searches on the boards on some of the awesome painters here like "Vikinglodge". there are other great painters here as well just VL was first to pop in. nuff said! paintminion
Dull Cote is great, just be careful of probpems in high humidty, and spray with ventilation! During the wnter, now, I've taken to using the brush on Reaper Matt Sealer. Love the stuff.

All-Terrain Monkey
I love Dull Cote as well. If you're worried about it dulling down your minis you can always reapply your top highlight specs again (which is what I normally do). Okay, flynn, read that as " Don't use Dull Cote in the Shower, the sauna, the hot tub, or spray over a pot of boiling liquid."
mattmcl
Nope. I've never used Future for anything, and I don't know what X-21 is. :-p X-21 is the Tamiya Flat Base that one mixes with Future to make it matte.
