Unspeakable Journeys

Disneyworld was incredible. We had a grand time, but back to the adventure. I believe that Unglef may be the only curent player. So here is a little transition scene.

The night passes and very few people get any sleep. At some point people arrive from some government agency and begin doing the majority of the work with the remaining zombie bodies. People meet and wander through the streets. But the small cadre of people who know; you, the Sheriff, Ms. Arwell and Old Bill move with purpose and as the sun rises, at around 8 in the morning, you are all together again, at the Sheriff's home on the outskirts of town.

"I can't go and Bill can't either," says the Sheriff. Scowling he continues, "That means that Miss Arwell will be going with you folks. First to the Cornthwaite place and then to where ever. Be careful. Look out for Susan." He pauses a moment and then, "I have my truck out back I know it will get you to where you need to go. There is some useful things in a box in the back."

Decide what you want to take, and it could be everything you brought. Now would be the time to ask the Sheriff for extra things.

"Well I'm hoping Arthur's place can give us the rest of the clues we need," Ray says. "I'm a bit suprised with all that's been said but knowing him like I do I guess I'm not as shocked as I should be. Arthur just can't leave well enough alone but I guess that runs a little bit in all of us who dig around in the past."

Sorry life got in the way. I should be back and solid now. Thanks

Toth spends part of the morning speaking with the agents that have arrived before meeting the others at the Sheriff's home. He has an old knapsack slung over his shoulder, and is carrying a shotgun: a 12 gauge with a bayonet attached. As he walks up, a slight breeze blows his coat open, and a .45 automatic can be seen in a shoulder holster.

He extends his hand to the local lawman. "Thank you for all your help, Sheriff, and for the loan of your truck. Rest assured that Miss Arwell is in capable hands." The agent then turns to the others. "We ready to go?" he asks.

Toth is taking everything he has with him, except for his car. Welcome back, Outkast Samurai.

Welcome back Outcast Samurai!

Susan arrives dressed for the weather in what looks like Arctic Explorer's gear. She has a satchel over her shoulder and a walking staff. After some very brief farewells and handshakes you are on your way. As the only person who knows where you are going Susan drives. Most of your gear will be in the bed of the truck covered by a tarp. The ride is bumpy and slow but in an hour you are plowing into the driveway of the Cornthwaite Mansion. It is a large country house, two storey. It shares the lot with a large barn and a smaller car shed.

You pull to a stop in the pristine snow. From the warm cab of the truck you can see the snow around the house has been disturbed. Susan turns off the engine and climbs out. She gathers her gear from the back of the truck and shows you a key. "The Sheriff got the key for me. What should be check first?"

"Well as much as I'd like to get in that house and start looking I think we'd better check around the outside first. It looks to me like someone," Ray takes a nice long pause. "Or something, has been here already. I'd like to know what might be waiting to say hi to us before walking into that house. Toth can you make sure nothing sneaks up on us while I go look? It'll be best if there is only one of us disturbing the tracks."

"You are absolutely right, Ray," Toth says nodding his head. He gets out of the truck, and looks for the best place to cover Ray with the shotgun while the other man noses about. The cold hits him immediately, and he wishes he had brought along warmer clothes. His old trench coat and driving gloves won't hold out for long against this type of weather.

Ray shirts the gun in its holster to make it readily accessible and heads towards the house. "What have you gotten us into this time, Art?" Ray mutters to himself as he crunches through the snow.

"You got yoursef into this one," a dry old voice echoed inside his head.

"Shut up dad," Ray said smiling as he studied the disturbed ground as hard as any dig site.

Sorry but real life steam rolled right over everything.

A survey of the outside of the house indicates that sometime in the past a group of creatures with bare, strange feet wandered around outside the house. It appears to be a day or so with some partial melting to show the passage of time. They broke in to the back of the house and dragged something away toward the mound, now visible perhaps a mile away. The back door remains open.

Ray scans the tracks and moves along beside them keeping a bit of distance to make sure he doesn't disturb them too much. He's had more than his share of people destroying a dig site with carelessness.

"It looks like something was here alright. A day maybe two ago from the shape the prints are in. Not human that's for sure"

He moves around the back of the house and then comes back up through the snow and stops next to Toth, "The broke through the back door and drug something, or someone out and down towards the mound. We can try and hunt down whatever made those tracks or we can check out the house first. As much as I hate to delay any longer I think we should see if we can pick up any extra clues as to what we may be facing from in the house."

Moving up to the ruined back door of the house Ray twists the light to shine in as far as possible to try and make sure that no one is left inside waiting for a hostile greeting. Stepping slowly over the threshhold, gun at the ready he sweeps his gaze over the interior to try and make sense of what the intruders were after, just a person or perhaps a bit more.
