pae
LOL! Of course I know who Brooke Shields is! I've been told I kinda look like her . . . personally I don't see the resemblance! For one, you're too short. For seconders, you don't have the eyebrows that she has.
PurityThruFire
Are you trying to say that Sophie might return to the Blue Lagoon?

Cerridwyn1st
I did some more work on Sophie over the weekend. Click on the links for the full images. Darn wings fell off again. I'll need to clean the glue off and try again. Sigh. Sophie's front Sophie's Back I smoothed out the skin a little, re-base coated the sword, worked on the gold NMM and touched up the reds. Also cleaned up some of the darklining. Edited July 2, 2007 by Cerridwyn1st
fieldarchy
better eyes! I like the green. She's lookin' good. Your pictures seem a little fuzzy though. Not sure if it's actually the photos of the fact that I don't have my glasses on!
PurityThruFire
Wow! She's looking fantastic!
Cerridwyn1st
Meg: Thanks for the compliment about the eyes. I read Mrika's tutorial and I've seen several minis you've done with eye color. On a model this big, I thought it was worthwhile to give it a try. What do you think about the eyebrows? That less Brooke Shields-ish? The pix probably are fuzzy. I've got a crappy old camera that doesn't like anything higher than Win98. I can't drive it through the computer so my images are so small it's hard for me to tell if they are in focus. The WIPs really help spur me on, but it is such a right paint in the butt to take the pix. Maybe for Christmas I'll get myself a new camera. PTF: Thanks for the compliment. Cerridwyn1st
Sophie update: Cleaned up the right eyebrow (the one that's partially covered by hair), touched up the gold NMM, started work on the NMM for the sword, touched up some of the skin a little more. Pix tonight. Sword colors: VMC 807, Oxford Blue; VMC 907 Pale Grey Blue, VMC 951 White. Gold NMM: VGC Beastial Brown (#43), VMC Yellow Ochre, VMC 949 Lt. Yellow Skin is from the Reaper Tanned Skin triad, with Fair Shadow added as one of the highlight colors. I have a mix I call "Eye White" that is 50/50 Pure White and Fair Highlight. I may use that for some of my final skin highlights. It is wat I used for the white of the eyes. Leather base color is VMC 982 Cavalry Brown. Mixed in some Yellow Ochre for highlighting. Will probably use either VMC Red/Black or RMS Red Liner for the shadows. May do a final wash with Clear red, but undecided on that ATM. anvil
It looks like you're using that clear 5 minute epoxy, or super glue for your wings. For something that heavy, I like to use a really good marine-grade 24 hour epoxy like pc-7 (or is it pc-10 now?). I've had great success with this stuff. After it sets up, it's stronger than the metal. No casual handling will break that joint. Otherwise looks good (insert obligatory Ooh's and ahh's here)
GreyHorde
FWIW, I recommend that 'unholy bond' of green stuff (or brown stuff, less flexible that way), CA glue and brass pins.

Cerridwyn1st
OK, I good news/bad news time. Good news: Got the wings to stay on. Bad news: drilled through the model doing it. Sigh. Have to fix that... Anyway, this is how she looks now with the wings on. I've darkened the wings a bit. I wasn't aware that the "edited" pix were not acceptable. Now that I know, it's links only, guys. Sorry. Sophie front, WIP Sophie Back, WIP Sophie, close up The last link is an area I "touched up" in close-up. PurityThruFire
The pics are really small, tough to see ('course I probably am in need of glasses). Stinks about drilling through it, I managed to go a little nuts and sand one of her arms down a little too much, it looks ridiculous. I'm eagerly awaiting the finished product can't wait to see how the base turns out.
