Nope and lord knows my CAV's have watched Stubdog do it enough times.

I think just simply stating that a stand can either mount or dismount once per turn would simplify the problem, and still allow for the Shock SA, and allow units most of their tactics.

With harcopy rules impending, I was just curious on the status of any rules updates or changes?

Shock: In, out, changed?

Higher Shredder values for some units?

Possible indirect fire modifications?

I also agree that their should be a minimum percentage amount spent in order to call a task force a faction force. I propose a sliding scale of 10% of each whole 1000 points spent on a force, round down. the logic here is that a single unit may be given mercs to do a given mission but as the task force increases in size the faction commander in charge of the force will increase in rank and have a larger faction force under direct command.

Well i agree but not with that whole point zaarin. On the surface it sounds great but once you start getting into the army faction lists for certain roles open models either do it better or cheaper. For instance the soft killer walker cavs either you grab a sabretooth or vanquisher. Not many other mini's can fill that role quite as well for the points. Or dedicated walker cavs with good hard target capabilities either its a falcon or 60 'tater. Its hard to beat that value for under 300 pts with no upgrades. For more points of course you could grab an oem ogre rhino whatever but that defeats the purpose of getting the most bang for the buck.

Not every battle is gonna be the same setup and the ability to pull from the open list gives you flexibility in your model selection to keep the game fresh and surprise your opponent. From what i've played and seen this game is all about army selection and hopefully getting the better matchups against your opponent. Surprise and luck wins you games..not to mention lucky dice on your end or bad on the other guys. Another point here if you are only allowed to min mix with a small number of open mini's in a game regardless of the point scale. Then you are handicapped at this point because the majority of the released models are from the open end market.

I don't think 10% of your points being spent on faction specific modesl invalidates anything that you mentioned.

All of that is true but there is another point to consider. Look at the problems the Germans had in WW II using everybody's trucks because they could not make enough. So when your nice shiny '70 Dictator goes down because widget "A" isn't in your spare parts bin don't shoot your supply or maintenance folks. They are talking about doing campaign rules and this point would defenitely apply then.

Well now if your talking campaign rules than the open list makes even more sense to have the majority of your stuff from there. Look at it this way ...it would much harder to keep your own new tech supplied and repaired and running then scavenging bits and pcs of old tech from not only other store rooms but off partially burned up cavs.

But to be comepletely honest with ya when i play i'll usually take over 70ish percent pure faction stuff the rest i fill in. The major point of me piping up was to leave the option to those who wish to surprise the other guy with something totally off the wall but just within faction rules. Ie one faction mini will work currently. I'd say leave it be and let their wins and losses determine what they choose to play not errata. /Shrug to each their own is my opinion.

Later

quick edit here..

Not every faction is good at everything and for some roles they just plain are no good. For instance ritterlich has very little long range capability vs hard targets. Or if they do have it its very expensive or not condusive to min/maxing. And direct fire vs soft is not an option with what is out there atm. So i'm forced to go into the open market minis if i want to fill those roles. Other factions have shortcomings too i'm just not super familiar with em off the top of my head.

What do you all think of adding more faction specific versions of open market models? Thus expanding what is deemed Faction Specific, and covering most of the faction's UCOR models?

Too confusing? Pointless? Maybe good but needs work?

I could see a few more faction-specific versions. Right now, it's pretty limited, right? Off the top of my head, all I can think of are the Hedgehog, Ogre, and Talon. I'm sure there're a few others, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to have at least one, maybe two a faction. I'd also like to see more faction-specific models, myself, or some benefit for being loyal to your UCORs (I may be biased, given that I own only one non-RMI or BS model...)

I'd like to see each faction have different rules for determining a faction force.

Something like Malvernis need a faction model in each section, Rach must have a specialist section with Mech Inf and tanks, Terrans must have a section of nothing but faction models, etc.

That way each faction has it's own force composition feel to it.

I plan to follow this just for fluff reasons. I take the cards for those open market models I wish to use and give them good Terran unit names. What Legionaire in his right mind would be caught dead in an alien built piece of junk any way? They are all probably loaded with viruses, trojan horses and such.

The force is still centered around Wolf tanks and Condor mounted infantry so the "open market stuff" is usually in the minority anyway.
