Faction Capacites

Recommended Posts

In the Malvernis Faction ability it allows you to receive a free stand of Rifle Team Infantry Stand in your Mech infantry section and infantry section.

Questions:

Are these the 84 point variety only?

Can the stand bring you up to the minimum requirements for a Section as well as above the maximum?

You get a Rifle Team, no swapping for Armored Rifle Teams or Heavy Mortar Teams. :poke:

The extra stand is added to the Section, so I'd say you have to have a legal Section (IE the minimum) before you get the freebie.

Yeah that's pretty much why I never use that doctrine. I might if the rule was that I could bring 3 reg infantry and add the one free stand thus making it legal. That's not how I read it though.

Even when doing armies designed to take advantage of the free extra stand I only seem to get about 5% extra points worth from this doctrine. That's just not worth it IMO.

Yeah, it needs some extra umph.

They're conscripted, which means that they shouldn't be as effective as a regular Rifle Team. Maybe they could get their own card - the Conscripted Rifle Team. Lower their Exp, CCV and DV to get them down around 50 points.

Then change the rule for them to something like for every 2000 points in your Task Force, you get a bonus Specialist Section consisting of 4 Conscripted Rifle Teams. This section does not count towards your Task Force size. The only Task Force Upgrades that Conscripted Rifle Teams may use is the Infantry, Weapon Upgrade.

Even if the capacity is below average....is there any reason not to take the Free base if you are running an infantry or Mech Inf Section....or are those sections below average when comparing identical points of an armor section.

Well the reason for not using the doctrine is that the other doctrine seems so much better. I think the basic idea behind the conscription doctrine is a good one, currently it doesn't seem very worthwhile though.

Well, if nothing else, it's another +1 CCV modifier and another stand that you can use to switch out the primary attacker designation with.

What if for every Infantry (not Mech. Infantry) Section you simply gave them 4 stands bringing the minimum section to a maximum section for free with no upgrades allowed? The Malvie player utilizing this Faction Doctrine will still have to provide transports in a secondary Section at normal cost unless he wants them walking. Just a thought.

I'd much rather see this doctrine tied to the battles points total than the number of infantry sections. Much like the templar doctrine.

Giving a player with the conscription doctrine a number of free points (calculated as a percentage of the army total) that can be used freely on infantry (and maybe infantry upgrades). Much like the templar pimp-my-ride doctrine.

That's a good idea. Something like 1 free Rifle Team for every 500 points. For a 3000 pt game that would be 6 stands, enough for a separate rifle section.
