[Posting for Dagan....]

Dagan...

[As we last left Dagan on the Strteet of Curting:

Dagan ---- Drawing his bow and looking off to the rooftops everything appears to be moving in slow motion. Your peripheral vision reveals Ogre enroute to the fallen person until he leaves your vision. You also see the people ‘out and about’ scrambling around the street off in the distance. Then there it is…….

You see a silhouette of person stand up from a rooftop (about 30’ from where you are and 30’ high on the rooftop caddeycorner) and you see some type of motion. A second later you hear the skipping of an object hit right in front and left to where you stand. ]

Dagan ..... As the silhouette came into the view I left the bowstring go. It seemed as if it were in slow motion...... Then all of sudden another skip off to my left... Keeping me nerve I stayed the course drawing another arrow from my quiver and nocking the arrow to the bowstring I started to aim again....

Ogre continues on his way and finally reaches the destination of the fallen man on the ground.

Kurith….

"You shure seemed a-hurry to get here..an' now you wanna wait

Thor answers afterwards, “Aye the streets take ona difference appearance ---- especially whens the sun goes… An dwarves are not likes too much heren anyways. Youz should know half-orc --- you’d look’d doawn on also…”

Thor opens up the door and yells down the hallway, “HEY!!!!!! Gets Bellrose down herz!!!” and closes the door.

"You shure got a long beard. How you make your water without gettin' it all wet?"

Thor starts to laugh to himself, “Sometimes I don’ts know…. Heh!”

He looks at you and sits back down. Then theres a knock at the door and Thor says, “Com in!!”

You see a chubber dwarf enter with just as long of a bear as Thor. Thor looks to you and says, “This me bropther Bellrose. Bellrose this the woman Irenda sets us up wit… Whaddya thinks?”

Bellrose looks to you and says, “Soo you be Kurith then..?.. Bouncer for Irenda eh???”

Bellrose looks to Thor and states, “Looken likes ya gots yar hands full brothers… Whats that weapon on the desk?

Thor replies, “ Its Betaghigh-Rakh Kuriths weapon…. “

Bellrose looks to you and states, “So minds if I takes a closer looks at it?”

Quintilas….

“speaking of the boy, let me fill ya in on his condition” he states as he raises his mug once more before telling Essimuth the details of Marcus’s condition.

Eissmuth leans in and says, “Cans’t be taa good me friend. I did a lil check an seen what blade cut the boy. He won’t be back fer a day or so. It seemin as if I out of a helper taday. Ahh wellz… Guessen me makes big money laterz then….”

Eissmuth leans back again and takes a drink. He looks to you and says, “Well so Thor Irongullets eh.. Interestin dwarf. I give ya a little background bout him now. Eissmuth leans in and closes the gap. He starts to talk quietly/ He say’s, “Old Thor had it rough. He and his brother Bellrose started off in the city as a less class folk an even today are lesser class folk to the humanz. But ---- they have their stature as well. I have come to respect the lil guys myself. Great tenacity and thinks great wealth all at the sames time. Too just a basements tavern and turned it inta quite a business. Therz rumors going round abouts the lil guys but most of them false.”

Eissmuth takes another drink, “Somes say they have their own lil street gang doin some deeds to da nobles an fer da nobles ……. only Moradin knows for sure… Somes say they dealin with the dwarves from da outskirts of the city doin somes illegal tradins …. but that’s still rumorz as well… What I do know is dey have made quite a life fer der kind in Waterdeep …… an don’t cross em…. If ya do you;ll prolly end up suckin water….”

As he finishes up his statements he finishes off his drink, He holds his hand up for the bartender to see and shows her 2 fingers and waves her back over.

The bartender starts to pour 2 more drinks behind the bar…

Darius….

The cround turns around chattering amongst themselves. You hear a few hey . well met, and so on’s….

One commoner in particular turns to you and states, “Been a while since ya last been in Waterdeep friend??? It’s definitely not the place to hang out in the streets by yerself anymorz… Seems as if a few gangs been tearin the place aparts at night and peoples who walk by themselves usually don’t see the mornings anymore. We be waiting ta take a trip down to The Swords Rest fer da night for some story telling and a lil drinkin… We just waitin on the cty watchmen to come is all. They been makin patrols at night an if ya walkz wit dem notin really happens…”

As the lamplighters finish up with their task on the street they continue on their way northward leaving the crowd of people. As soon as they leave you see the city guard begin come into view from the north.

You take note of the situation at hand --- in the guard you see 6 people: Two with crossbows on the ready, two with shields and shortswords on the ready, 1 with a crossbow and mace and the other wearing just a robe.

As they make their way to the crowd they begin to slow down and the one with the robe runs up ahead and addresses the crowd. He states, “It’ll be 1 silver donation per person for escort to the south.” After he says that the people start to line up and pay the man their ‘donation’.

They are all paid and the robed individual starts to make his way towards you.

Vargos….

The old lady looks to you and says “ I offer much……. Why don’t you come inside an see my wares young fellow…..”

Eligos….

The dwarf looks to you an says, “Okay …… I’ll get ya 2 of da good stuff.” He then walks back behind the bar. You see him put 2 big glasses onto the bar and then turn around and grabs a bottle that looks to be so old its covered in dust a ½ an inch think. He pops the cork and pours both glasses full. You hear a female dwarf yell from the kitchen, “hey fatty …… pickzzz upz da foood fer da dorfz tablezz!!!!”

You hear him respond, “In a secz!!!!” and contnues his way to your table. He sits both glasses in front of you and says, “Hardest stuff we gotz!!! Dem humanz knowz hows ta lightz a firez in da belliez!!!!” and he turns and leaves you to yourself….

As he walks back to the bar you see him make a turn and head into the kitchen. A few seconds later he returns and heads off to a table of 3 dwarves with plates in his hands. They begin to talk in dwarven and all start to laugh at the same time. When he is done placing the plates in front of them he returns behind the bar….

Dagan.....

Ogre…..

As ogre runs up the fallen man ogre begins to growl at the dead mans body. Seeing a puddle forming in the street from the rain ogre decides to take a quick drink.

Dagan….

From your position you see Ogre bend his head down by the dead mans body but you can’t see what he’s doing???

But that is not what is on your mind you continue to look up towards the silhouette. From the distance it’s hard to see but a second after you left your arrow go the silhouette fell backwards out of sight. Standing your ground you wait. About three seconds later the silhouette is back out and looking your way. You see the outline of a bow this time….

Thor starts to laugh to himself, “Sometimes I don’ts know…. Heh!”

Kurith joins Thor in subdued laughter, pleased to see that he has some sense of humour. "You all-right... for a dwarf.", she says to him, her demeanor seeming a bit more relaxed.

Soon there is a knock at the door. Kurith assumes correctly that it will be Bellrose, whom Thor had called for moments earlier. When the pudgy dwarf enters the room, Kurith immediately takes note of the new interloper's armament; a precaution that had become almost second-nature to her during her various career adventures as strongarm and thug.

Bellrose looks to you and says, “Soo you be Kurith then..?.. Bouncer for Irenda eh???”

Kurith nods. "Yeah.. been at the Corner haff a year ... more, maybe."

Bellrose looks to Thor and states, “Looken likes ya gots yar hands full brothers… Whats that weapon on the desk?

Thor replies, “ Its Betaghigh-Rakh Kuriths weapon…. “

Kurith is surprised at the dwarf's ability to speak the weapon's name so well, though she still wonders if he understands orcish enough to appreciate the potency of the name.

Bellrose looks to you and states, “So minds if I takes a closer looks at it?”

Kurith stands, carefully taking up the greataxe from Thor's desktop with both hands, gripping its handle from either end. Before offering it to Bellrose, she gives him a fair warning.

"I had'ta break a few legs to get this.. an' if you think you gonna take it away from me easy, you better think s'more.", she says, mentally preparing herself to make good on the offer if either dwarf should try to rob her.

Toldin…..

After Axel makes it inside you take your watchful eye out into the evening street. You can see by the light of the lamps that tonight is going to be quite slow. The weather is keeping a lot of the inhabitants inside this very ugly evening.

About 10 minutes pass and you hear the door close and you look down the steps. Old Bellrose starts to walk back up the steps. By the look on his face you know something is wrong.

Bellrose looks to you and says, “Ya didn’t remember!?!?!?!?!?!?!? NO TALLIES TONIGHTS ------- youz luckys Axel looks like one o us….. Now remembers no-one tallies comes in unless its on da paperzzz?!?!?!?!?”

The gruff dwarf turns around and stomps back down the steps opens the door and slams it behind him….

With water running off his hood, Toldin watches Bellrose slam the door behind him.

"Well its not like Axel is REALLY a tallie", thought Toldin. Bellrose was still angry at the time that Axel, too far into his cups, had drunkenly grabbed his daughter Brundha. The whole room had gone stunned silent as Axel laid a colossal kiss on the fair Brundha's lips. Dwarves were by nature a bit more private about their personal affections. "Not like Elves", thought Toldin. Toldin remembered all the stories he was told as a child of the vast Elven Orgies where whole towns would writhe around in orgiastic wantonness. The thoughts of that and the stories he was told of all the sicknesses that were spread by Elves made Todlin's skin crawl. Toldin said a quick prayer of thanks to Moradin for being born a dwarf.

Once Brundha had regained her composure, she had hauled of and decked Axel so hard he flew off his stool and onto the table behind him. Her closing comment, "Ye might be a man, but ye not man enough to kiss a Dwarf" raised such a howl of laughter that Axel was forgiven. Well, after the dwarves drug his unconscious body up the stairs and out the door, and a few accidental kicks, THEN he was forgiven.

To everyone's surprise he showed up the next night, black eye, cut lip and all. Toldin remembered the scene. Everyone got very quiet when Axel walked through the door. Bellrose stormed out of the back, with every intention kicking Axel out. Bellrose marched up to Axel, bouncer's billy club in hand. "Whatz ya mean, commin back here" he growled "after me daughter had the sense to lay you out?"

Axel looked up meekly and said in the hush, "Well, Ive been spurned by a beautiful Dwarven woman, this seemed like the appropriate place to drink my sorrow away".

The crowd roared with laughter, and Axel was led away to several welcoming tankards. To this day Axel cringes when Brundha walks close. Brundha, however makes an extra effort to wait on Axel and terrorize him every time he comes him. Toldin wondered if the spark in her eye is just of playfulness, or something more.

He hoped it was nothing more. Toldin had heard stories of the evil Elvin witches capturing Humans and having some kind of sickly, twisited, evil, offspring. Toldin had another horrid shudder at the thought. He knew also through historic lore, that, Humans and Dwarves could not bear children. Dwarven stories had several tales of tragic love related to humans. Marying a human meant no children, and thus no linieage. Bellrose would never approve of his daughter and a human. Brundha's duty was to her clan. She would be best to keep her eyes elsewhere.

Toldin finished reminiscing and looked up and down the street. The rain was absolutely pouring from the sky. He was the only person as far as he could see. Even the bouncer across the street had moved inside. After Bellrose's temper, Toldin knew that would not be an option.

Toldin jumped down into the puddles of swirling rainwater. He moved his stool up to the top steps under the very minor overhang of the inn doors. Crawling back onto his stool, he found that if he laid his back against the doors, he could keep his head dry-ish, while his knees and feet were still getting wet.

From this height, he could see anyone trying to go down into the steps of the Tavern, as well as a good way down each street. Down in the distance he saw what looked like a human size figure running up the sidewalk. "What other fool, but me would be out in this weather", thought Toldin.

“ Essimuth leans in and says, “Cans’t be taa good me friend. I did a lil check an seen what blade cut the boy. He won’t be back fer a day or so. It seemin as if I out of a helper taday. Ahh wellz… Guessen me makes big money laterz then…”

I’ve told ya got time on me hands to give ya a handz around the shop till tonight and I still be needin a few items as well, Marcus didn’t findz a bow but I’ma guessin you have a reliable crossbow that’ll suit me needs.., and I won’t mindz havinz a lookz at that blade or whats its covered with, something that potent sures to comz in handy” he states with a sly grin

“Well, so Thor Irongullets eh.. Interestin dwarf” Eissmuth leans in and starts to talk quietly “Old Thor had it rough. Quintilas has another drink as he listens to Essimuth relate to him some of the more common background on Thor & Bellrose Irongullets. Its something he can relate to being a Half Wood Elf himself. Having coppery skin with a faint hue of green is something that has drawn stares, and in the seasons in which his skin darkens slightly he cares not to dwell on the thought of those whom have little wit and bolstered with an over active iminagation that don’t know any better but to think that he may be one of that race that dwell underground.

“Eissmuth takes another drink, “Somes say they have their own lil street gang doin some deeds to da nobles an fer da nobles, only Moradin knows for sure. This is where Quintilas ears visiblable perkup, a practiced muscle control that he uses to entertain the children at Helm’s Hall.

This is something that would be worth looking into afterwards

“Sooz I take it I can tak’em at their word and truszem not to cross me either, eh?” he says as Essimuth waves for the waitress to bring a couple more drinks.

Vargos glances back at the street once again where the elf left and turns again to face the lady.

"Ummm... alright." he says and follows her inside.

He looks around the shop, seeing if there is anything interesting.

"So... you say business has been bad lately? Ummm... may I ask what might be wrong with it?"

Eligos sits quietly sipping his drink and taking in his surroundings. The dwarf is correct that the liquor is quite potent, but having worked in a night club for so long, the young tiefling is quite used to potent drinks and has always managed to hold his liquor well. He smiles in satisfaction as he feels the warm fire begin to grow in his belly and slowly move out to his extremities.

Finishing his drinks in a leisurely manner, he finally ascertains that it is time to go on his way. The rain had seemed to let up a bit, but now was beginning to turn into more of a downpour again. Shrugging in resignation, he leaves payment for his drinks on the table along with a tip and heads and, wrapping his cloak and hood tightly around himself, exits the tavern into the stormy night.

He walks for what seems like forever in the dark and finally picks out the Underdark in the blackness, a lone figure sitting on a stool outside of the entrance. Clutching his cloak tightly with his hand, Eligos trots as quickly as possible to where the dwarf is sitting and presents himself.

"I have been sent on an errand by Kolats Tower. I am to see your barkeep and impart an important message," he says in a low voice barely audible over the pouring rain.

<Posting for Dagan.....>

But that is not what is on your mind you continue to look up toward the silhouette. From the distance it’s hard to see but a second after you left your arrow go the silhouette fell backwards out of sight. Standing your ground you wait. About three seconds later the silhouette is back out and looking your way. You see the outline of a bow this time….

Taking careful aim Dagan lets the second arrow fly. Grabbing the next arrow out of the quiver with lightning speed Dagan knocks another arrow on his bow. Letting his sight roll down the street to ascertain the situation he sees Ogre's head down doing something close to the head of the fallen man. Looking back up toward the silhouette he waits....

Kurith…..

Bellrose looks over the weapon very carefully for about 5 minutes inspecting every little knick and scratch.

Bellrose then walks over to Thor and begins talking in dwarven. When Bellrose is done he looks to you and say’s, “Not a bad axe but………” Bellrose then seems to be deep in thought.

Thor say’s ,”Sozz ya been here a half a year eh???? What’s ya been doin heres besides bouncing??? Howdya gets ta live here????”

Before Kurith can respond Bellrose says, “Well …… Kuriths and Thor issza be backs in a bit…” and he hurridly leaves the room.

Toldin and Eligos……

Toldin ----- as you are standing as door man for the underdark you see a human size figure running up the sidewalk….

Eligos ----- say’s to Tolding "I have been sent on an errand by Kolats Tower. I am to see your barkeep and impart an important message," he says in a low voice barely audible over the pouring rain.”

Quintilas…..

The waitress makes it back to your table with 2 more drinks. She takes Eissmuths empty container and wiats patiently for you to finish your drink off to take it away as well.

After you finish the rest of your drink she then escapes back to the bar.

Looking around to make sure no one is listening in on the conversation Eissmuth leans in and continues speaking quietly, “ Ahhh I sees ya interested in the Dwarves now eh????” Eissmuth paying attention to your body language noticed the ears visiblable perkup and decided to continue.

“Aye old Thor an his brother have interesting acquaintances ta say… No matters what they always ends up on the bettern sides of things. Since I’ves been here ------ I can’ts rememberins them taken a hit ---- so ta say.”

Eissmuth then sits back and takes another drink. A few seconds later you hear the footsteps of the barmaid making her way back to your table with the food. She places the food in front of you two and returns back to the bar.

Eissmuth then begins to lean back into the table and begins to eat his lunch.

Vargos……

You follow the lady up to the counter and she continues, “Aye ---- business always slows in the wintery months…. Should start to perk up shortly I hope…. Unless big and strong knight types scare away my customer base…. But I have lot’s to sell….”

Looking around the shop you see lots of spice jars / dried fruits, vegetables, animal parts, / jars with ‘stuff’ / a lot of different fabrics / coin purses / belts / backpacks / parchment paper / books / inks / feather pens / lamps / and so on….

She looks at you and speaks, “You see kind knight ….. I deal with the arcane students and masters of Waterdeep….. So what you would call suspicious ------- would probably my full clientele…… some are upstanding ….. some are not…. Whatever the case may be …… what would you be in the market for today?????”

Dagan…..

Ogre ---- continues with his head in the puddle finishing off a drink a water.

Dagan ---- behind Ogre you notice that the crowd the was scampering about has almost left the entire scene and there is practically no one in the street at this point in time. Looking back up you watch the silhouette fall forwards out of sight.

Waiting (for about 1 minute) for what seems an eternity the silhouette never reappears

Vargos looks around somewhat interested. He browses through anything he's allowed to browse and tries not to comment when she mentions something about knights scarring away her customer.

He only mumbles, rather sheepishly: "I'm terrible sorry, madame. I did not know he was a customer..."

When she asks him what he is in the market for, he slightly panics. The fact that he's in the store is rather an apology for disturbing her and, being mandated to buy something, he wasn't sure what he wanted, if he wanted it, or if he could even afford. However, one thing hit him as an old memory of early day adventuring resurfaced.

"Do you have any potions?" he asks. "Particularly, potions that can mend wound and flesh?"

Toldin sat on his stool at the top of the stairs. The rain poured down over the front of the in's doorway and dripped in rivulets off the inn's sign. Toldin watched the human come up to the top of the stairs and speak softly. "I have been sent on an errand by Kolats Tower. I am to see your barkeep and impart an important message,"

"Oh ye do, do ye"", Said Toldin. "Whats your name?"

"Eligos",

He reached inside his oilskin cloak and pulled out a piece of paper. As the ran splashed down and the thunder cracked, toldin looked at his paper and tucked it back in his cloak. "Aye, yer names on the list, but ye cant go in right now. The Tavern's closed to non-dwarves. We have er... official business going on. Your welcome to stand under the ledge with me, but theres barely room for one more, and it only partially keeps ye out of the rain"

A thunderbolt hit a rooftop nearby with a resounding crack, sending arcks of blue white flame from lightning-rod to weather vane. In the flash, the strangers face was lit up showing copery skin and odd horns peeking out from under his hood. Toldin scoweled and leaned forward.

"Oy" he said, squinting up his eyes. "Yer not an elf, are you?"

More waiting, it figures Eligos thinks with a sigh. He scrunches back under the ledge still huddled in his cloak.

When the dwarf asks him if he's an elf, he shakes his head to the negative and pulls back the hood of his cloak slightly to let the dwarf get a look at his appearance. "I don't think that one of that fair race would take kindly to you referring to me as one of their kind. I'm what people refer to as a tiefling. A freak of nature and magic that is not really meant to be. But, as I'm here, I try to make the best of it that I can. How long do you suppose this wait is going to be? I'm really quite ready to be done with this weather for the time being."

Kurith waits and watches as Bellrose inspects her axe. Though her suspicions concerning the dwarf's intent is fading, she does not particularly care for the way he is inspecting it as though looking for a flaw or some peculiar marking only he knew of.

The two dwarves then speak at length to one another in their own language. Eventually, Bellrose speaks in the human tongue. “Not a bad axe but………”, he starts, but lapses into some new private thought of his own.

"Sozz ya been here a half a year eh????", Thor interrupts the silence. "What’s ya been doin heres besides bouncing??? Howdya gets ta live here????”

Before Kurith can respond Bellrose says, “Well …… Kuriths and Thor issza be backs in a bit…” and he hurridly leaves the room.

Kurith takes her seat again, carefully leaning her axe against the chair as she had done before.

"I didd'n steal it, if that's what ya think.", she states loudly and theatrically toward the door through which Bellrose had exited. Turning to Thor, she tries to answer his question without volunteering too much information.

"I come here with a man called Vartek an' another who ev'rybody jus' called Captain...only he didd'n have no ship. He put me to work helpin' him keep his own town watch. He got people to give him gold so nothin' bad happened to 'em.... if you know how I mean... an' that's what I done."

Kurith pauses momentarily, anticipating some kind of reaction from Thor.

"So I done all he asked me to do, but when I asked for my money he sez to me I still owe him what he traded for me.. an'.."

She pauses again, then resumes her story.

"I come from the North.... but you would'n know nobody from there, would ya."

Again, Kurith pauses.

"The axe come from a shop down on the highstreet. I gave ''em haff the pay the Captain had been keepin' from me for it.... so I didd'n steal it. After that, I needed somewhere to stay an' that's when I got to Sailor's Corner an' Irenda."
