Cerridwyn1st
Lately I've been mixing paint and ink together, especially for shadowing. I also use a paint/ink mix as my base for metals. Anyone else doing this, or am I totally wierd?
JoeGKushner
I do it all the time. Thins the paint with some water and makes for different quick color inks.
mooseyjoe
I had an army paint scheme that featured a blue made from ink + white paint. I Liked it because it was reeeaally easy to wet blend with.
LSTR
I was just at my FLGS and was flipping through one of the Warmachine books. In it I saw a tip about mixing ink and paint so I guess you aren't alone. You may still be weird for entirely unrelated reasons though. As for Warmachine, the Privateer Press Brush Thralls come up with some amazing stuff. Well worth reading. Rackham's painting tutorials in Cry Havoc! are good, too. First you must accept they are painting with what we would consider colored water...
LSTR
Oh yeah, I've been all over the Brushthralls site. Between there and tips found on some of the personal sites of the vets here I have learned a lot in a short amount of time. I really like the Rackham style, but I doubt I'll be able to find the Cry Havoc book locally though. Rackham's not too big around here it seems. Cerridwyn1st
It doesn't help that their magazine is rather expensive. They did drop the price from $20 to $8, so it is much more reasonable now. Dropping that much money for a couple pages of painting advice can be a little tough. LSTR
For even more validation, Privateer Press are releasing some "washes" with their paint racks which are apparently a combination of ink and paint.

No one in my area has the racks. They have the boxed sets of paints. I'll have to check out the washes at GenCon.
LSTR
No need to wait that long, they come out on the 24th.
