Here is the finished product. Yes you do see green on her knee and her elbow. That is a character attribute . . . she's slowly turning into a green dragon and is starting to grow scales.

I do want feedback, keep in mind that this is a tabletop quality mini though, not my best work.

My only critique is that you refer to this as "tabletop"

The length you went to highlighting and painting details.. *sigh*.. most of my poor pooooor orcs don't even HAVE dots in their eyes.

The metal bits (or NMM..I can't quite be sure which) are well done and you have picked out sone nice colours for this mini.

How long does it take you to paint "tabletop" like that?

PLEASE don't tell me you can do THAT in seven minutes!

Looks very good for tabletop I think. Her clothes highlights are very good, metalic eye makeup is good touch. Her hair is better than my best I think.

I think the mace is sorta missing something though. Couldn't tell ya what, because I have a hard time with the metal.

If I'd painted this it would go on my for display only shelf.

Uhh she probably took me 5 hours to complete from basecoat to finish. I've been working on her intermittently for the past several days. I've got many projects on the table. She's good quality. Basically tabletop in my book is a mini that looks nice, you would be proud to own but not so nice you are afraid to use it. Besides all of my minis that will be handled are coated numerous times with gloss and matte finish. So far this one has only gone through round one because after I applied the first coat it started raining tonight.

The metal bits are actually gold with some shading using muddy brown paint thinned down with future and water.

Since this was intended for gaming use, you've hit that well.

If you decide to re-do this as a display quality mini, you might consider using greenstuff (or other epoxy of choice) and scuplting on the scales to better define them.

She's cleanly painted. If you someday decide that her gaming days are over, she's ready for the next step (more highlight & shadow). Green and gold is a fine combination. The skin and hair highlighting look especially good for a gaming piece.

If I was painting her, there are two things I would have done a little differently. [George's Opinion Mode]I would have used a color more tan than yellow for the hair (my preference is to have blonde hair shades of tan). I also would have given the scale textured areas a wash of either brown liner or green liner to define the texture a little more.[/George's Opinion Mode]

I actually don't have any liners hence why the scales are just green.

She is actually for a gamer in my group but yes if I ever decide to do this one for show quality then there is more that I would have done with it, such as clean the mold lines better.

For future reference - if you don't have brown liner, it could be substituted with Walnut (Pro-Paint or MSP), MSP Blackened Brown or Vallejo MC Camo black brown for this application. I like to mix a little brush-on sealer into the mix for washes and glazes (I think that was an idea Jen posted a while back).

Great job as usual Field. Perhaps it is the anal jerk in me, but if only you could hit the gold with a quick wash or two of chesnut (as much as I loath GW, thier fleshwash is the greatest creation known to man). I just can't help but think "she spend so much time on this model, what is a few seconds more'.

I love the greens of the cloak, they look great.

gold is actually washed in areas with muddy brown turned into a wash. I don't currently have any inks and need to replace some of the paints in my collection as they are being used up and some are going bad. I'm not too concerned as the owner of the mini seems pleased. Soon I'll be doing commissions for my whole group!

Slightly better than table top quality there fieldarchy. The mace looks quite flat when compared to the rest of the model. It may help to paint the section of the mace directly above her head to match the rest of her a bit more. Some minor dark lining where the pointy bits of the head meet the haft would help too.

The only thing that I would change on this is the mace. Compared to the rest of the model it seems lacking somehow. Perhaps the fact that it is all "one" colour in that it is all pure metal rather than anything to break it up. Perhaps a wooden handle or some other coloured trim maybe? That's the only thing I can find to pick at really. This is excellent for tabletop quality.

Hey Meg - First - This looks great. To apply eyeshadow on a mini for gaming is an execellent detail that shows your brush control and skill.

Second - The colout pallet you've chosen is great

Third - The hair looks great - I assume you did hit it with some sort of wash or maybe the camera set-up is different but it looks better than it did in the WIP photos in my opinion.

And now - my commentary.

**Granted this is for tabletop - so as it stands - you are at end of job and can use it/display it proudly.**

If you were doing this one again... Or going back to it for touch ups down the road....

Maybe a touch of green on the left elbow behind the shield? Judgement call I know - but it would look more intentional...

The shield and mace look kind of flat... Not sure it would be worth the effort to go back and use washes, maybe different tints of paint to use a NMM approach, only with metallics... Mix some dark brown and a hint of burgundy into the gold to apply in areas to add some depth to the shield...? Just sayin' is all.

As for the mace itself - great conversion, but it would look a bit better (IMHO) is it tied into the Green/Gold of the shield... Maybe in the handle and the 'fins' on the mace...

Lastly - and ist probably a matter of personal style/preference - but I generally try and run the highlights up a bit higher (distance - not shade) on the cloak. Right now the 'hot spots' look to finish at the bottom 1-2 mm of the cloak... I try and get them to run up along the 'peaks' as far as I can get away with - it makes the folds look more defined/dramatic... again - personal preference though.

As this stands now - great piece of work. Anyone would be content to use this as the centerpiece of their campaign.

So... What's up next?
