Lance
Just a thought. Would it look more like a scale coming out of the skin if you put a small patch of black and then the green on top (like an eye leaving black on the edges) ? Very nice the cloak looks like what I use for orc skin. If thats an orc skin cloak I'm releasing my orcs on her...
mattmcl
I really like how you used the yellow to highlight the green, great use of color. I'd have to agree on the mace, a wooden handle would look good. Nice work, esp. for 5 hours.
fieldarchy
thanks for the feedback guys. All feedback is noted. As for what's up next are two warmachines two helljacks. Cerridwyn1st
Looks very good for tabletop I think. Her clothes highlights are very good, metalic eye makeup is good touch. Her hair is better than my best I think. I think the mace is sorta missing something though. Couldn't tell ya what, because I have a hard time with the metal. If I'd painted this it would go on my for display only shelf. The problem with the mace is that it is all one "surface" - metallic - and kind of flat at that. For TT, I'd suggest two things on the mace: 1) Paint the handle a wood color, then stain with brown ink. 2) Multilayer drybrush the head of the mace. Still a quick enough techniques for TT. I'm assuming you're using white primer, so you will need to darken it first. Layer 1: Adimantite Black, thinned to wash consistency. Apply two coats Layer 2: Mix a little of the wash into a dark silver metal color. Blackened Steel works well, but use what you have. Layer 3 & so on: Gradually add in a bright silver and continue drybrushing additional layers. Each time you add the next layer, add a little more of the light silver. Load lighter, blot harder and brush softer with each new layer. If you REALLY want to go the distance on the handle, paint a light brown like Tanned Leather. Add streaks of off-white, then off black. Linen white and then Brown Liner work, but again use what you have. Stain the final product with thinned brown ink. If you need a "liner brown" but don't have it, there's always Jarret's Brown (from Jarret Lee). Mix approximately equal parts Snakebite Leather, Chaos Black and RPP Walnut. Thin it a little with Magic Wash and you are good to go.
Madog Barfog
Face -wow Dress - great But since you asked for feedback, the shield and mace aren't up to the quality of the rest of the mini. The shield would be easily fixed with some dark green ink. I agree some more brown wash would help as well. Tha mace just needs some mithril on the edges and a wash of black ink. If the whole model took you 5 hours, you should be able to do this in under 20 minutes. This is really a great mini, it just looks as if parts are unfinished because they don't keep up with the rest in quality.
Versutus Vulpes
thanks for the feedback guys. All feedback is noted. As for what's up next are two warmachines two helljacks. Now if only I could figure out how to put the durn things together. From what I have read on the internets - they can be somewhat tricky. I'd start by looking at the brushthralls website. Lots of cool tutorials and WIPs as well. Let me know how it goes - I was thinking of trying them as well.
fieldarchy
The warjacks are commissions for the guy I did the purple undead pirate for. I just glued one of the warjack bodies on so it was angled too low and I can't glue his arms on now. He's currently taking a nail polish remover bath to break the bonds of the super glue. fieldarchy
yes yes I'll do a WIP on the warjacks! I mean c'mon the paint scheme is acid green and royal purple! how can I let a mini be painted in those colors and not do a WIP? That would be tragic! Versutus Vulpes
Privateer Press... Kind of Magic controlled Steam powered fighting bubble robots... Some look wicked neat - others totally schtupid. Overall - I want to try them which is why I am pandering for the WIP before I drop coin.
