Hackrilege
Hi guys Just wondering what you guys thought was a good 750pt starter list, and a 1000pt list that could be created from that? I'm considering elves as a side faction for my crusaders. They may even become my main faction Also, the hunting cat, warrior centaur, rangers and sniper seem to be missing from the gallery? Thanks
Pointy Eared Speed Bump
The miniatures missing from the gallery have not yet been created/released. As for a 750point army, I prefer some archers and warriors as a base, then adding a cleric and melee support(either a heavy hero or Mossbeard[the coolest shrubbery EVER]. Hackrilege
The hunting cat and royal guard seargent can be purchased from the warstore though? And their cards are avaliable in RAGE? Niriodel for cleric? Danithal for melee hero?
Stubbdog
The hunting cat and royal guard seargent can be purchased from the warstore though? And their cards are avaliable in RAGE? Niriodel for cleric? Danithal for melee hero? The royal guard whites got posted not long ago, but still not released yet for purchase. All those that you mentioned have not even been sculpted yet (as far as we know). So, if they are listed in the warstore, then either they are pre-order spots, wrong game, or simply a mistake. All cards are available for download whether the actual miniature is available or not. One of the great things about this game, can proxy most anything you need to to play, but go ahead and get the stats to the players to allow for best and most balanced play possible. You cant really go wrong with any of the warlords anymore, so I would never reccomend against Danithal. Nirodel is nothing to sneeze at with the marksman RAV5 at 30 inches. But, I would say it depends on how you plan on using it. If you think you will spend more time casting a lot of spells then I would probably go with Dehanis. If you want an archer that also can toss a spell out in emergencies then Nirodel is a good choice. The hunting cats are great, and especially since they become grunts in the Woodlands list (or is it both lists I cant remember) you can spread a few around in different troops. But, as one of my friends says, "Don't leave home without the centaur warriors." With their ranger free move, their high movement ranges, first strike, and high MAV, they were built for the stampede attack, not to mention thatit gives them an advantage when playing scenario games that require speed and maneuverability. Hackrilege
Are the centaur warriors released yet? Or will they be in the near future? I'd rather play with released mini's... Selwyn - 88 Niriodel w/ Hold, Divine Vigor, Slow - 110 4x Vale Archers - 240 Anise - 67 3x Death Seekers - 156 Centaur Archer - 88 Outrider Total – 750 Selwyn - 88 Niriodel w/Hold, Blessing, Cure 1 - 120 4x Vale Archers - 240 Anise - 67 3x Death Seekers - 156 Meridh – 30 4x Vale Warrior Centaur Archer – 88 Outrider Centaur Archer - 88 Outrider Total - 998 What do people think of this? As far as I can tell, using all released minis. Thanks.

Stubbdog
Overall that list looks pretty decent. But, that is the beauty of this game, and one of the reasons I like it so much. I could probably point as as many enemy lists that this one would beat up as I could find enemy lists that would beat this one up. Before the 2007 updates there were definitely more "power" lists to be made. Lists that were successful 75% of the time and so people would build those lists and make minor tweaks here and there, but for the most parts stick to the model so to speak. But, ever since the updates have happened, I have seen less and less power lists. Don't get me wrong, there are still a few out there, but for the most part, it has become a much more balanced game of "what do you feel like takin today"... I know this is not what you are looking for necesarily, but what I can say is that this list would fair well against some and will get schlacked by others, but overall it looks like a balanced group. You have some melee, some ranged, some spedbumps, and you always have your rangers moves and rerolls on missed shots, and overall team speed. Since you have devoted a good portion of your points to ranged, your main weakness with this group is if the enemy is also made up of speed and more of it than what you can handle in a turn or two. Or if the landscape has lots of hiding terrain to allow the enemy to get to you before you can start shooting...
WolfDreamerNZ
Hi guys, Sorry if this is in the wrong place - but I am only just coming back after a long while. I have always been a painter and not a gamer, but I have downloaded the RAGE Chronicals 2007, still have my 1st ed printed book and am stoked by the additional troops and abilities for Elves. I only got to play one game before life took over - so at least I don't need to relearn anything. LOL I have read a bit on here - much of which goes over my head - - and have printed out the adjustments and I noticed the woodland protectors subgroup. I think I may give that a try. I have run a search for other posts on them but to little success...what do you think? Any tips for playing them in a 1000pt game? A friend, who has played Warhammer and the like for a long time, has created a Merc list and he wants to play this weekend.... I can put stuff together to equal 1000 pts, but I understand so little about the game mechanics - I am unsure what works best for a first game...any suggestions?? Vil-hatarn
Most people prefer the sublist now, since Sure Shot has become slightly less powerful. I haven't played them, myself, but I've heard there are many tricky tactics you can pull with their special rule, especially if archers are involved. I'd take a good look at the Rangers, too; they look like the perfect multipurpose models.

Be careful to keep it supported. Though it's fast, it will die if teamed up on. You might want to consider centaur warriors to go with the unicorn--together you could have quite a nice cavalry unit, say Chiral, Unicorn, and two Centaur Warriors (assuming Chiral can take an elite, I don't have the stats in front of me). I'd suggest mixing up the troop types a bit more, where the adept/troop limits allow. For example, having two matching units each containing a ranger, hunting cat, vale warrior, and something else is more versatile than the thematic divisions you have going here.
