cutebutpsycho
Well, I've done everything from "I have a red and black elf army and want a captain" to "paint me anything". For the paint me anything type, I've considered what MY strongest points as a painter are, and really worked on something that showcased them. As for preferring to paint for someone you know from the boards, ie, a frequent poster, let me know and I'll see what I can do. I can't promise anything (because I can't control who signs up) but I can do my best. It's too late for this go around, but maybe next time. And as for a fall exchange, you all are gonna have to wait a while as school starts Tuesday and I'm still working my tail off! Work's not excited for me to go back to school (although they understood it and aren't mad).
Evilbob
I said paint anything, but I do have both a Crusader and Sisters of the Blade army. I got a Sister of the Blade. But If I'd gotten a troll with boils, cool. Now my recipient was specific. I mean even, I don't want these. And these are the like top things I like. So I picked a top thing I thought I'd want to paint that wasn't on the no list, and TaDa! I even have paint on it now.
Star Drifter
I am still working on mine. Basecoat is down and some detailing is done. Sorry for the lack of updates but my current job has been hell and I have been working hard to get a new one. I halfway got it. too.
sethohman
Have to start a new mini. Apparently, the one I shiped to my recipient has been lost in Post Office land. First time I haven't shipped Priority Mail, and for sure the last time. Been 3 weeks from Ohio to Texas. SETHOHMAN
Fruggs
the piece I am working on is coming together slowly. This week , it has had to go to the back burner til I get some other things done but it is almost finished.
kristof65
I'm about 70% done with mine. I'll make it on time, but it's going to be close. Me thinks I bit off almost more than I can chew.

An Exemplar Seneschal for PTF, a mini for CBP 'cause she's a sweetie, and well... I dunno after that.. anyone else wanna swap minis?

I dunno after that.. anyone else wanna swap minis? Possibly ... I have really enjoyed this swap so far. I love being able to see different techniques... vutpakdi
The mini exchange is partially about pushing yourself to try new things, right? Even if the result doesn't quite hit the mark, right? <sigh> <sotto voce right>: Memo to self: maybe the next exchange mini should be the second time that you try something new, not the first time. And, let's restrict it to one new thing, not two, eh? Ron

Ayin
Interesting. My question is this. Who started painting using other than Acryic paint. For the first two years of my hobby I used Testors Enamel and for a year after switching to acrylics I never used primer. Haven't gotten to work on mine in a bit. He's sitting on my table giving me dirty looks. I'm hoping to get some work done tonight, depending on if my real work wipes me out again today. If not, Monday! Edit: Heh. Forgot to post my reply to the above quote. See what happens when I pop in here for a quick browse before I have to go to work? Answer: I started with Testors too. It was a long time before I went to acrylics, with a long painting pause between. But, thanks to my Dad, I knew to prime before I paint. I just never knew to scrub ze mini before that until last year, I think....
John Lee
I've finally gotten started on mine, but I'm bit intimidated about painting as I've checked out my recipient's work and they are very good, and I'm , well, not so good. John Lee Just dive in and do what you can! I'm sure whoever gets it will appreciate the effort you put in, even if you don't feel your skill is "on par" with theirs. The mini exchange is meant to be fun for everyone, and I highly doubt anyone, no matter how good a painter they are, signed on specifically to get an "uber mini". If it happens, cool! But if not, you still get a piece that someone put a lot of heart into. That's what counts, as far as I'm concerned.
