One of my biggest pet peeves is Spam. ( No I like my body the way it is. I don't need to increase or decrease anything. No I don't want to "Hook Up" tonight) I can't stand it. Anyway, my day is going a bit crumby today but it got a little better when I read this:

Man described as a top spammer arrested

On the bright side, if he's in custody, maybe the spam will slow down somewhat. On the dark side, this will probably just drive the remaining spammers to use more devious and harmful tactics.

What kills me is that these guys are still making money off of this. That means one of two things - either advertisers aren't being responsible with their budgets, and just spending money that they don't know is going towards spam (or more likely, haven't researched and/or don't care) OR that people are still buying things from spam. I swear, if I ever meet someone who admits they bought viagra from an company that advertised via email, I'm probably going to strangle them.

Even though he may have been caught, his spyware programs are still out there, running. So it's going to take some time before people start seeing a decrease.

And he's not the only spammer. Where one falls, another three take his place. I'm glad he's been caught, but I'm more interested in seeing how the trial pans out. The results of that trial will help set the regulations we need to bring down ALL the spammers.

Meanwhile, I will rejoice that finally someone is doing something to stop these people.

Ah yes I read that this morning and a huge grin came across my face. Isn't it a beautiful thing?::D:

Maybe now I'll stop getting as many spam messages about enlargement of parts I've never had, or for that bank account I've never had etc.

Problem is, like it said in the article, even if every spammer in the US is arrested, does hard time, loses his flower in prison (hopefully to someone that purchased the aforementioned Viagra from one of his spam mails), and never does it again, there's still all the spammers outside US jurisdiction. Every country in the world will not be able to arrest all the spammers. I seriously doubt a developing country would even bother, too many other things to worry about.
