Since I have to paint up both armies how many points per side would I need for a good game and to get a better understanding of the rules?

What size tables do most of you play Warlord on?

Thanks

I think 4' x4' is most common but the rules say 4' x4' or 4' x 6'.

I think a great learning size is 1000 points each. It's not too large and not too small. I also like to have a Warlord in those games and a caster with a couple spells, that really makes it the size of a traditional skirmish game. I think most people play around 1500 for a regular game. I think both GenCon and Origins tornaments are about 1500 this year. I prefer a little larger game, I like 2000 points.

I'm not sure how many points most box sets are any more but I'd guess they are around a 500 -700, but thats just a guess.

For learning, anything between 500 and 1000 points should work quite well. You might paint up to 500 points first and then bump your armies up in stages.

Of course, there is no reason that you really have to paint your armies before you start learning the rules.

4' x 4' tables seem to be the most common size.
