1) Count me in, if it's a day that I don't normally have off... That's what employees are for. I'm located in Brunswick, Maine (35mi north of Portland)

2) Possible venues...

There are four gaming stores that I know of in Southern Maine, My store (J&R Cards and Games) and The Keep are both in Brunswick. Crossroads Games in Standish, which is about 15-20 minutes inland from Portland, has ample space and I know the owners well enough they wouldn't charge us for table space (but the lighting sucks), and then there's Game Geeks in Portland proper which I don't know much about. I know a few more stores up north, but primarily card flopper hangouts even if they do have great lighting.

My roaming range in my '86 F-150 (there, the 'old truck' defined) is pretty much 2-2.5 hours. If I can goad a few more people into coming with me, I think I can extend that range to 3 hours.

3) Saturdays are the one day where I don't have to do anything store related unless my business partner is out of town. I think he's heading down to Texas towards the end of July, but can't say for certain because he keeps changing his mind about when he's going to go.

When we manage to pull this off, it'll be great!

1.) Who's in the area and interested? (or wants to wing in, Phil :poke:)

I'd love to do something!

FYI, my real name is Clinton, I'm in Southwestern CT.

I don't even think there is an active Black Lightning member in the state.

2.) Specifically where? (What state/town and any ideas for venue)

It would be nice to have some kind of central location between everyone who is interested. It would also be nice if this could be an all day thing since some of us will probably have to do some driving. I don't know where everyone is located so I couldn't really recommend a place...or I could just selfishly say "Somewhere in CT"!

3.) When?

Well, I don't have a job holding me down <_< , I'm pretty much free for anytime.

I think it would be fantastic to have a day that we can dedicate to the hobby. I know I would love the chance to meet other painters since I've have pretty much been stuck in the middle of a painting limbo and I have been teaching myself this whole time. There are plenty of gamers around me but none with the same passion for painting as myself.

Excuse me for a moment, but I have to say something:

The idea of driving for two to three hours and finding oneself in another state is mind-boggling to me. Two to three hours, and I'm in San Antonio, Waco, Houston, or not quite to Dallas, depending on traffic.

I suppose I should add:

1.) I'm Darin. I live in Peterborough, NH. That's central on the southern-most line between NH/MA. Definitely interested, obviously. :poke:

2.) I'm willing to range pretty far for an all-day event. 2-3 hours driving would be max, I suppose. Otherwise or perhaps in any event, I could get a hotel room for the evening, too. That's fine by me (so long as we're not talking a tourist town where the rates are jacked) I suppose we should see how much interest is generated, pinpoint the location of folks, and choose a target area democratically based on a concentration of participants, eh?

3.) I'm good on weekends all through July and into the beginning of August. I'm away in August from the 16-31st. After that, I'm back and available until the 12th through the 16th of September.

So who else? ::):

EDIT: Ary... I can drive pretty much an hour in any direction in be in one of three other states. Two to three hours can bring me to yet another, possibly a fifth. But having lived in Miami for years, I feel you. 6 hours+ out of the state of FL from there. ::P:

I'd be interested in hanging out and slappnig some paint provided the day works for me.

I live in Lowell, MA about 15 min from the NH border.

Helltown, I'll be heading through your neck of the woods in a few more weeks en route to MDI where my wife and I go camping every summer.

Ary, a 3 hr drive in New England is a long drive. That's leaving civilized land and heading out West

I was recently thinking it had been a while since my last NE Reaper-fest.(April 2004?)

I have too much on my plate to coordinate this alone.

If someone is willing to assist in the coordination of this, I'll commit resources.

I can supply official Reaper Support for this activity if we want to plan something fun like a contest or something.

I would prefer not the End of July(local con =OGC) nor anytime in August (that whole GenCon thing... :poke:)

If we wanted to entice more people, we could open it to gaming, too.

I have a listing of stores that I'd target first based on past positive experiences.

CHer- How about the Wizard's Tower in Nashua NH? Do you think they would consider a day/night event? Seems to be a central as any.

Night works best for me (Work until 5:30 :p) As for when, I jsut need a few days notice to make sure nothing is scheduled.

Even more boggling to me is hearing from New Englanders who consider it "too far" to to travel, from say Boston, MA to Hartford, CT as a day trip. That's the same distance between Cheyenne, WY and Denver, CO, which people here will do for family dinners and such. Heck, it's 70 miles between Colorado Springs and Denver, and a lot of people make that drive weekly, or even daily.

Now, back to topic - it looks like I'm going to have to head out to CT/MA to service a customer later this year - hopefully I can make the timing coordinate with this, so keep us all posted. Be nice to meet some of you.
