Whizard Hlavaz
On another note, in a "if wishes were fishes" vein, I found the perfect venue: Ultimate painting area Ah!! That would be great!! Need an NMM reference? The place is chock-full!!
Qwyksilver
Some time in September would be preferential for me given a number of activities already scheduled with the family.

Helltown
Whoa... took me a little longer to find time to get online than I thought. Zip Code: 04011 My availability: July 13th-15th are a no-go. Magic events galore and I run 'em all. The first two weekends in August are also bad for me, partner goes on vacation (and the employee threatened to quit if I made him work during the Yu-Gi-Oh tournament despite offering hazard pay) and the championship event of the Heralds of Galactus tournament for HeroClix. September is wide open for now. Now this is just to throw the option out there: If folks are willing to make the trip up to Brunswick, Maine, I'll be more than happy to play hostess for the event. There are hotels in the area and for those who are inclined to tolerate the Evil Ones, I've got a spare bedroom and a extremely comfy couch at my apartment in Lisbon Falls. The option of bringing the futon back in from the barn to provide additional sleeping area for the folks too broke to afford the hotels also exists. For actual miniatures gaming, I can talk to the other gaming store in town about hosting that aspect. Painters at my shop, gaming at The Keep which is about a block away (aka across town). We haven't got the terrain or the space that they've got set aside for Wargaming, not to mention my regular weekend events will also be occurring in our basement play area keeping me from just borrowing some terrain boards :P Although a demo or two of Warlord by any Black Lightning folks that care to put one on, would be possible depending on how many painters are jockeying for table space. My partner can make some hills and such Downtown Brunswick offers, Chinese, Indian, Irish, Mexican, Italian, and traditional pub foods as well as a slightly pricey deli for food. There's also a couple of collared shirt and tie places to eat as well. My business partner, if we do decide to have it up here, will probably go insane and cook chili, make salad sandwiches, and insist that I make the one thing I have yet to burn (pasta salad). Whizard Hlavaz
I could make that trip. And if the Indian in town is good, I may just to give myself a weekend away.
Helltown
There are two different Indian restaurants within walking distance, I haven't been to either one yet. My budget for eating out tends to run to the Dollar Menu of late
PurityThruFire
I could make that trip. And if the Indian in town is good, I may just to give myself a weekend away. For a weekend of painting and gaming I think I could pull it off, except I'm the poor and jobless one (at the moment at least)

For a weekend of painting and gaming I think I could pull it off, except I'm the poor and jobless one (at the moment at least) I actually kinda hope we can find someplace a little more central to everyone. Having it in Brunswick, while it'd be great to not have to drive far, would mean that I have to run all my normal events while trying to find time to paint and game. Since I'm one of the few folks who has a venue, it seemed like a good idea to make the offer and I'll stick to it if everyone who wants to attend is willing to make the trip. That includes the crash space in my apartment for those too broke (or cheap) to afford a hotel room. So does anyone else have some suggested venues so we can all start thinking about the options? PurityThruFire
There's tons of conference places around me, I'd be happy to check up on some pricing. Again though, while close to me it may not be very convienent for everyone else.

If we start delving into conference centers it could turn into a mini-con and we'd have to charge admission... I mean.. if I were going to expect 20 or so folks, that's fine for a game store to host with advance warning which is what I think we're looking at right now at most. If we were expecting 100 or more folks to turn up, that needs a conference center..
Helltown
Okay... this is where it stands right now: Interested Folks: Whizard Hlavaz (New Hampshire) Helltown (Maine) PurityThruFire (Connecticut) Qwyksilver (Massachusetts) The Family Storm (Massachusetts) Dargrin (Massachusetts, but might as well be New Hampshire) Dilvish the Deliverer (Connecticut) and maybes who might fly in to attend: Flynn (who's Lady requires shopping) Rodnik (If his presence is requested and time allows) Kristof65 (depending on location and actual date) Locales: Only one so far and rather off center when you start plotting points. Best bet so far is to get somewhere in Northern Mass, Southeast NH interested in putting up with a small herd of mini painters. If we get more people from Connecticut who want to attend, moving it down into central Mass isn't out of the question. I admit it... Maine is out of the way

I worked in a conference center for 10 years as a purchasing manager, I do know that these places typically have very small and inexpensive rooms to rent out. However, you are right, it would not make a hell of a lot of sense. I doubt there is anywhere around me this would be possible and truth-be-told because of everyone's location I doubt it would even make sense. Oh I know they have smaller rooms, otherwise they wouldn't make much money if they only were able to rent the HUGE caverns. To put things in perspective, three different people (two gamers and one non-gamer) have told me that something like this amounts to herding cats. My experience with my Dad's herd (four cats) which occasionally includes my Evil Ones (he likes the grand-cats to visit), it means we gotta find out where and when the treat can gets rattled and hopefully no one gets trampled in the process.
