Bel_Amore
So as some of you know, I started painting a few months ago because my husband (then fiance) painted and wanted me to try it out. Along with starting to paint, I started going to to a painting group (with buggeye, cutebutpsycho and jester when he can make it) at a local shop with Chris. Then I started going to sunday night gaming to hang out and just see how the game is played. Even though I wasn't playing I still felt like part of the group, so as you'll notice I refer them as "our group" and so on. Well, last session our cleric had to leave early so I played his character (read: I rolled the dice when I was told to) for an hour or two. It was ok, nothing too special IMO. I'm not into the spellcasting and stuff. It was nice to get in and play a little just to get a feel for the game. So tonight our halfling (Erin, aka cutebutpsycho) was unable to make it, so she told me I could play her character if I wanted. Well I think whether I wanted to or not everyone assumed I was going to step in and play Bella. So I grabbed her character sheet and I tried to play Bella just as Erin had done. Don't worry Erin, you're still the best at making Bella an obnoxious little turd. But I had fun. Bella got some pretty good hits in, or at least I think so. I rolled my first natural 20! AND Bella only took 12 points of damage the whole night, which all came from one blow from the silly Urgelstasta (or however you spell it) Plus Bella got to fly and was able to roll a reflex save to avoid being puked on by the Urgelstasta!!!! sweet deal! So I'm just a little excited right now. I am going to work creating a character! Hoorah!!
Corsair970
Painting is likened to a gateway drug :) And gaming to painting...
mattmcl
Yup. They go together like coffee and smokes, pancakes and syrup, and a host of other more interesting combinations I won't get into.

cutebutpsycho
Well, it's very comforting to know that I'm still alive. And that you had fun with Bella! And I'm VERY glad to hear that playing her pushed you into the creating a character mode! Especially since we'll be one character short in a month. I've sure considered you part of 'the group' regardless of the fact that you weren't running a character, so I'm glad it'll be official soon. Krztoff
I'm helping her start on her character so it'll be ready for next time. When discussing where to put stats she said to me, "If I don't need it to do what I do, I don't want it." I think we might have explained the stats to her a bit too well, because we created a min/maxer.
Sergeant_Crunch
painting leads to gaming, gaming leads to gm'ing, path to the dark side that is.
Bel_Amore
I'm helping her start on her character so it'll be ready for next time. When discussing where to put stats she said to me, "If I don't need it to do what I do, I don't want it." I think we might have explained the stats to her a bit too well, because we created a min/maxer. I think what my darling husband means is....I know what kind of a character she is, so I'm going to take full advantage of her lack of knowledge and lead her blindly into the roll of a min/maxer... I think we officially weirded people out at perkins tonight while discussing characters and such..heh...good thing I'm already used to the strange looks!! cutebutpsycho
So, what is she? I need to know so I can have a mini on the table for you in time (assuming Rob doesn't do it first)
Bel_Amore
So, what is she? I need to know so I can have a mini on the table for you in time (assuming Rob doesn't do it first) well I don't want to double up on anything we already have, and I kinda like to hit things. I'm thinking dwarf barbarian. Chris found a few minis that I like.... Freya Fangbreaker Margara Firetongue Azrin that is, unless you already have a good one in mind.
