Babes and Bullets

Recommended Posts

I'll be posting the pix for this when I get home tonight. I don't have access to post to my WIPs to my site from work. Getting the topic started so I won't have to argue with my home computer about it.

I can give you an example of what the model looks like. This is from the Green Dragon Hobbies website. The model is one of the Gun Molls from Cobblestone.

The figure is the second one from the left, the girl in her underwear with a pistol. A friend gave the model to me.

I have to say that working on this girl, I've noted how spoiled I've become working on Reaper models. The definition that I've grown used to in Reaper models just isn't here with this one. I'm having to paint to make up for the weakness of the sculpt. The eyes in particular were a right pain.

So far I've got her hair, face, and some of the body done. Will need to work out the stockings and shoes. I have my color theme worked out. The bra and panties will be red with black trim. Stockings will be black. Probably make the shoes red, to contrast with the stockings. I may make the heels black.

I'm considering giving her a tattoo. For the time period, it would be a rare thing. I think it would give the model even more of a tough girl appearance.

Wouldn't it be cool if Reaper would do a series of minis like this, I'd definitely buy. Anyway, good job on the skin and especially the hair. I do have to agree with Lastman, she is a burly one, kinda reminds me of some of the drag shows in the French Quarter, New Orleans ( pre-Katrina).

I personally don't like models like these. I like Reaper's line just the way it is!

Mel, you are doing a good job so far. I've noticed the same thing about being spoiled by reaper. Other models just aren't up to standard. Crunch Waffle is the only comparable company really! Gael does a good job and Gene did a model or two for them as well.

Saturday was Paint and Take. I was in my FLGS all afternoon but got amazingly little painting done. One thing I did find out is that the magnification in a portable lamp that I don't often use seems much more powerful than that on the lamp I DO use all the time. Found lots of little white bits and such that needed to be painted on the Pulp girl.

The afternoon was good for my ego - lots of admiring looks at the models I had brought.

Sunday was pure down time - stayed in my PJ's all day. Only picked up a brush for about a half hour. Found that some of the rough bits I was obsessing over on Sophie could be gently filed off with little damage to the paint.

So no updates ATM. I'll try to remedy that when I get home.

Personally I prefer the submachine gun. It is a nice touch, but then there is the hand gun. This art piece shows womens advancement in the mob world. If you can not get through the class ceiling use explosives. Also bonny is a good vintage and American miniature.

So how are you going to paint the trench coater?

P.S. Field does have a point this is reaper they do have a good line. Maybe I should stop it with the pictures of faen put them on a off site link. Those are just as good and it does not detract from reaper while showing an openness to other medium. The miniature is from a subsidiary of Wizards of the coast and yours is different.

Looking good Cerridwyn... I love these minis, and the gun doll is looking great so far.

Reaper doesn't mind as long as they are clearly marked as being non-Reaper.

Besides - we all know Reapers are the best - but we all love to paint and or game, so post what you have.

Oops, looks like I inserted the link instead of the pix:

I painted a hand gun for another of these figs. I base-coated with Blue Steel and then washed it with Adamantine Black. Not sure if I'll use that again. This looks like one of those nasty little 22 autopistols like the German officers had in WW II. A single bullet wouldn't do much damage, but they can be fired quite accurately (almost no recoil) and rapidly.

I love bits and pieces of the time in history these lil' beauties hail from.

While the minis are not as detailed as I like (again, spoiled by the likes of Reaper, Rackham and Privateer Press), I think they are fantastic in their own right.

I really dig the red you are doing up her clothes in.

The skin looks fantastic as well, I've always thought you have a natural talent for pulling off really effective skin tones.

These ladies would look great representing some of the more "hardcore" women from the Call of Chthulhu RPG (<sigh> if I could get any one in the area interested in it).

I'm excited to see how they turn out!

I'm not doing the whole group, PTF. I just have the one mini from that set. A friend gave it to me when I painted another model for him from the set as a commission.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm happy with how her decolletege is turing out. I painted in some shadows and then blended over them with the skin tones to even it out. I was trying for the same highlighting technique I've seen recently on Marike's models.

Cerridwyn - ditto on liking the red. It has highlighted up quite nicely.

This is a really cool looking mini you have on the go here. The hair in the skin are top notch.

(PTF - have you seen the RAFM minis for CotC? I picked up one a while back and I am just now getting around to painting her - the rough analog to Alice from Resident Evil).
