Enchantra
Shindig...or SHINEdig? Only thing we'd have to worry about is how much noise Meg's neighbors could tolerate. To much noise could invite unwanted guest(s) in uniforms and land Meg in some trouble.
fieldarchy
yes, we would have to be some what quiet but no matter where we go we are going to run into that, especially if we want to party at a place where people don't necessarily need to leave in order to crash. I know I'm not going to have a ton of sleeping room but there is always the floor to crash out on.
Rastl
Hmm...I might try to make it this year. Depends on whether it conflicts with my AP tests...and whether my parents will object to me flying halfway across the country Heck, bring 'em along! There's always interesting things to do at RCon. Wouldn't be the first time it was done.
haldir
for Rcon next year I want to get a "official" slot for a rpg game on Saturday (if not I KNOW for sure I'm scheduling any classes, as I missed not playing with Unglef like in 06), leanin toward doing a old basic D&D game (the Expert rule set) for a couple hours, a nice little nostalgia trip if might say, but also have other gaming plans as well, just want a spot. I've always wanted to hit GC, ever since I got into gaming some 25 years ago, but as long as I have RC, I'll be happy, big enough for me, get to be around people I know & being in "Reaper Shangra-la" so to speak is pretty damn good to me. + the after hours stuff is the kicker to a great weekend as well, even if I have to pay for the next day, HA HA HA
fieldarchy
hal if you do a DnD game that would be awesome! I'd love to do a session.

Artists Wren Posted September 27, 2007 Artists Share Posted September 27, 2007 The whole point of the entire con is the Auction on Sunday. Look at it you get reaper bucks for attending a class and you get reaper bucks for playing games and there are no classes during the auction. Obviously the entire con is focused on me errr I mean on the auction. I don't know about the whole point being the auction, but you certainly do make it a very entertaining and exciting part of the con! Several pages back someone asked about activities for non-mini spouses. I think a lot of those have been mentioned, but just in case, I thought I'd list the ones I remember. (In addition to the auction, of course. ;->) My husband is very supportive of my hobby, and would be happy if I ever finished painting an army he could play with, but really he comes along to ReaperCon to keep me company more than for his own interests. But he's had fun both times we've attended. There are usually at least a couple of RPG sessions. There are tours of the facility and how the miniatures are made, which we both found very interesting. Last year they had Reaperized versions of Life and Risk set up in the Asylum that ran several times a day and looked pretty fun. (I had a scheduled activity every time the Life session ran, I was bummed I missed it!) There's also a sort of intro to the Rage system dungeon run that would also appeal to anyone who enjoys board games as well as mini games. Paint and Take and Speed Paint sessions can be fun even if you're not super into painting. They also do a masters version of Speed Paint and Speed Sculpt with a Sophie Says flavour, it's pretty funny to watch the big names of painting and sculpting doing goofy things. I think there are Sophie Says painting sessions for attendees, too. Talin has given talks on drawing for miniatures design at at least one or two of the RCs. haldir
if anything about Talin's talk is you get a handout (at least this year anyways) with allot of his sketches & concept artwork in it, not to mention of course, the discussion was very informing as well, I hope they have it next year as well. I hope they have Life & Risk again, they were a blast to play (Reaper was short on bodies over the week, so Bryan had me fill in for that & even thou I wasn't playing I still had fun). If anything Rcon is a great excuse to get out the house for a few days, as I don't really go anywhere, other then to Boise for a couple hours, but since it's semi-local (hour away), not really a trip. Thus, anther reason why I like going to RCon each year, thou hopefully next year when spring break comes around for the kiddies, hopefully we'll get a Oregon Coast trip (been a couple years since I was on the western side of this state). If anything, non painters & such get to see the offical works that you see up on site at reaper hq, maybe that'll prod them along to start painting, ha ha. Hopefully down the road, I wanna bring my daughter to Rcon, as I know she'd like to go, if not for the trip, but just not sure if she'd be ready to spend the entire day at Reaper with dad. Ayin
We could always plan a dinner/cookout at the end of the day one day. I do have cooking supplies and I should have a much roomier kitchen. The grocery store will be just down the street. We can load up on cooking supplies and drinks and make a night of it! If the guest list's open, I can say I make a mean margarita if anyone's got a blender I can use!
fieldarchy
Ayin, can you do on the rocks instead? That's the best way to have a margarita!
Ayin
Ayin, can you do on the rocks instead? That's the best way to have a margarita! I suppose I could try the same recipe for on the rocks... Never done it. I actually prefer frozen with fresh fruit. Ever had one made with a ripe peach? I was hooked from that time on. I've done strawberry, mango, various berries, watermelon, apple, and more.
Vil-hatarn
Vil, How old are you? I'm guessing you are at the end of your high school days since you are talking about taking AP classes? You can assure your parents that most of us Reaper Peeps are fairly responsible and we always look out for one of our own. If you want to come out and need transport to and from places let me know. I know I've got Kate staying with thus far and the possibility of Kelcore bunking at my place too. If Kelcore doesn't come out there I should still have some extra space. tobasco, sounds good. Hopefully I will have a grill and we can also do bbq chicken too. Well, aren't we just planning a good sounding party? I'm a high school senior, but am already 18. I think they could be convinced, it's the AP tests I'm more worried about. I've got tests on both the 7th and the 12th...so until the actual dates of the Con are released, I have no idea if I can make it Thanks for the offer; I had overlooked that I probably can't get a rental car (pretty sure you have to be 21... )
Enchantra
I had overlooked that I probably can't get a rental car (pretty sure you have to be 21... ) Yes most companies require that you be 21 to rent a car. Most dealerships won't let you do test-drives either unless you are 21. My sister found this out car shopping with a friend a few years back, her friend was 20, and they wouldn't let him test drive a car. However there are enough people with cars that live in the area, and cabs that getting a ride places won't be hard.
fieldarchy
Actually you can rent a truck at 18 but in order to get a car you have to be 25 that or pay boat loads extra for a rental car if underaged
