Toad
He-he sounds like a blast. This is going to sound very nerdy, but when you all go to ReaperCon, do you go by your name or by your alter-ego forum ID... To be honest, if I could make it next year, I'd be lost with a bunch of Steves, Vickis, Anns, Mikes, and etc... Now Haldir, PuritythruFire, etc... would be easier to remember. Sergeant_Crunch
I was called by both my screen name and my real name. Wasn't a big deal though as I'm used to people calling me Sergeant. :)
tabascojunkie
It is easier to remember screen names than real names a lot of times. I try to use real names though when I remember them though. I'll answer to Bruce or, or tabascojunkie, or tabasco, though.
Kheprera
But will you answer to tabby-man? Or Spicey Red Sauce Guy?
haldir
I recall Bruce, answering to Bruce Almighty one or twice over the weekend that's for sure (ha ha). for the most part here I'll use both, but at the con I try to use the person's name, but the board name does slip out sometimes, ha ha RM
Spike
Well.... I suppose you could say I go by either or both. My "real" name is only for the tax-man. Hope to see ya there, Toad!
Toad
I'll have to see about sharing a ride... long way to TX. But there seem to be a lot of members from Chicago. Maybe flying would be better. Got a long time to figure it out.
tabascojunkie
Quite a few from Chicago and Denver. Gotta watch those Denverites, they have a habit of cornering the market in the piant contest.
Toad
That's because the one's from Chicago are so hyped up on caffeine from the long drive they can't hold their hands steady.
eastman
I'll have to see about sharing a ride... long way to TX. But there seem to be a lot of members from Chicago. Maybe flying would be better. Got a long time to figure it out. It's about 1000 miles (give or take a dozen) depending on where in Chicagoland you leave from. I did the drive in a single day each way (about 14 hours with stops included). I'll probably do it again next year (since I plan to have a lot of entries for the contest). Watch out for the Kamikaze Venison though (one of them got me this year north of Springfield).
Toad
BY the time you pay for gas and car repairs flying is sounding like a better option - assuming you can carry on all your entries...
Rastl
I fly but I also combine the trip with a visit to my dad so the rental car is necessary. I had thought about driving at one time but I would rather get there and relax. My vacation days are too few to spend them on driving to the heart of Reaper goodness. I don't have many entries to bring with me so carry on isn't really a concern. Maybe if I had more of them or larger ones I would be more inclined to drive. But for now, flying is the way to go. We had both our given names and our screen names on our badges so it was pretty darn cool to match up faces to names. I still use screen names more than given names tho. eastman
BY the time you pay for gas and car repairs flying is sounding like a better option - assuming you can carry on all your entries... Gas was less than $200 for the round trip. Since my plan for 2008 is to enter all 7 of the categories I'm eligible for (DHL Small, DHL Large, Warlord Small, Warlord Large, Warlord Unit, Open and CAV), that won't fit into carry-on (and there is no way I'm going to check an entry for the baggage monkeys to abuse). After paying for car insurance for 17 years, this was my first claim, so Kamikaze Venison only wound up costing me the $250 comprehensive deductible (so far). Toad
True. At 35 MPG, gas would be $170 at $3 per gallon not bad. Now have to get past all those long boring miles...
