Okay... some questions about ReaperCon since I fully intend to attend ReaperCon '08:

How much does it typically cost for a hotel room in the Denton area for the length of the convention? How are the hotel shuttles to/from the airport?

Are cabs, buses or whatnot affordable or should I just rent a car?

Just asking so I know how much to set aside..

There are people in the area who usually a few months before the convention will offer rooms or a mattress on the floor/couch to those attending the con to save money. That's what I did for R-con 2006 and it was a blast! Stubbdog was a great host for the weekend and since he was at the convention all day, we rode with him (Me, Humansquish and one other guy who's name eludes me momentarily). All I needed was to buy my own plane ticket and bring cash for food and whatever else I wanted to buy. Stubbdog met me at the airport to pick me up, and he took me to the airport after the convention. Ask around, there will be people willing to put you up cheaply, unless of course you wish to room at the Super8 there in Denton or La Quinta.

well if you want to be with most of the Rconers, Reaper will announce a "official" ReaperCon hotel around the same time the dates are announced.

I priced shuttles from the airport this year as I thought I'd have to use that to get back to the airport & what I saw was they ran about 50-60 dollars or so. It's about 20 mins give or take from the airport to Reap HQ, really not that hard to get from there actually (thou if you ride with Rastl, that is different story, but that is between her & I :B): (& I've never actually driven, just been a passenger each time that last 3 years, thou this time probably do the rental myself & come a day earlier then normal as well (been showing up on Weds, but I think this time I'm gonna drop in on Tues), more or less get on 35W & follow the signs to Denton from the airport

hotel costs vary as well, this year stayed at the best western (official hotel this year) was around 500 dollars, allot more then I want to spend for a bed, but I was amongst friends, so the cost wasn't that hard to swallow (well sorta, ha ha).

+ gotta remember to save cash for Reaper heaven, err I mean Reaper HQ & the Boneyard shopping---best advice for that area----plan ahead!!!!

At past RCons, it has been easy enough for people without cars to get rides between the hotel and ReaperCentral.

As an example, even though I drove from Chicagoland to Denton last year, I still picked up and dropped off people at the airport.

When I have attended, I usually rent a car and will pick up folks at the airport and bring them to and from the Con. I couldn't attend this past year because of finances and childcare.

Rental car is usually about 250 depending on the size of the car you rent. I drive a truck, and usually have a full car, so I usually get at least a midsize and then get my free upgrades because even though my brother no longer works for Enterprise, they never apparently removed the family of employee tag from my account. Though lately I have been partial to Hertz. Hotel usually averages about $90 per night after taxes and junk. If you have roommates and split costs those change dramatically.

Usually around February/March a thread pops up and gets pinned for people looking for roommates/rides/etc.

Personally I rent a car only because I combine ReaperCon with a visit to my dad. So I need the car to accomplish this.

Actually, every time I've been to Reaper it has been in combination with a visit so I've always needed the car. Interesting. Well, efficient is more like it.

When things start firming up and the new Rides Needed/Wanted thread is open I'll post my availablility for airport to hotel. And the hotel to con group kind of falls together by itself.

True enough. Its a standing offer every year. Anyone that is willing to live with 2 star service rather than 5 star service is welcome to stay at my place for free.

I'm reserving my room/couch/air mattress now barring any unforseen drains on my income tax return that keeps me from going next year like it did this year. Your wife gets another chocolate cake out of me too. Afterall the woman let's me use her Kitchen, and that takes some trust on her part when to her I'm practically a total stranger.

Well... I'll wait and see how much the Reaper hotel will be before I start fretting about hotel bills and rental cars. I already know that I don't wanna deal with a rental car (I despise driving anyway) and I can get non-stop flights from the nearest airport right to Dallas/Ft. Worth so that's really all I need to know for now ::P:

If I were to book a couch... no large doggies or small younglings (they both scare me and they both smell fear), cats are great but they will be spoiled (the Evil Ones have me trained properly)...
