fieldarchy
Meg,If my place at Stubbdog's falls through I'll keep you in mind. Always good to have backup plans. You have archaeology clothes? From college summer digs off-campus I'm assuming? So you're a fellow Anthropologist? Ooooer! We can comiserate! I was an archaeologist for three years. I worked for various firms while I was in school in Arizona. I was also honored with the priviledge of going to Pompeii for a month and a half to work in the House of the Vestals and the House of the Surgeon. I do plan on going back to school for Anthropology (at some point) to study the origin of Syphilis and TB and other STDs. I want to do my Masters on the Origin of Syphilis though. I was lucky enough to discover Anthropology at ASU where Dr. Johanson was one of my professors along with Dr. Gary Schwartz, Dr. Brenda Baker and Dr. James Eder. They are all very reknowned in their own subfield. Some day I'll be Dr. Megan Maples, knowledgeable in paleopathology, bioarchaeology, and expert in classical civilizations! I still have my dig kit and my hardhat. I am staring at them right now in fact . . . For now I'll be quite content to get done with my MIS on December 17th! This is the first masters. On topic now . . . if you need a place just let me know. I'd be glad to have company! Plus it's just more humans in the house to give Mr. Duffers some attention. I'm sure he wouldn't mind! Enchantra
I was an archaeologist for three years. I worked for various firms while I was in school in Arizona. I was also honored with the priviledge of going to Pompeii for a month and a half to work in the House of the Vestals and the House of the Surgeon. There in the Southern and Southwestern US is about the only place Archaeologists or Anthropologists can still find work. As for R-con, I'll certainly keep you in mind. I think a nice shopping spree at a craft store and maybe even a dinner at some local joint that can sit all of us wouldn't be a bad idea. We can comiserate over food! Helltown
... and would I be rude to bring a Magic deck or two, or should I leave those at home? Heck no, it's not rude! I think at Rcon'06 a few people brought Magic cards with them and had themselves a game or three. Go for it! It's a huge Gamers get-together, we paint, we eat, we sculpt, we play games and tournaments and do what ever we want (within reason of course) and have fun. Magic is totally allowable. Just thought to plan ahead as I'll be missing two of my own tournaments to attend ReaperCon, I kinda need my weekly fix of Magic or I go a little nutty. I'll add my deck bag to the list of things to bring (handy because my brush box fits inside it as well as the card boxes I like to carry my WiP minis in). FYI to anyone who is thinking of coming to RCon. My house should be done by then. I should have an extra bed for someone to sleep in (I have a pull out couch) and I'm not sure yet if I will need a roommate or not. So, I could potentially be able to house two people unless a couple of you don't mind sharing a bed. Meg, If my place at Stubbdog's falls through I'll keep you in mind. How big is Duffers? If he's not that big of a pooch, I'll keep ya in mind. I don't cook, but I order a mean pizza

Enchantra
Awwwwww! He's a cute lap dog! So how often when you're studying or painting does he try to perch in your lap?
fieldarchy
When I study, quite often. He likes to sit in my lap on top of the books I'm trying to read. When I paint he's pretty good. He'll just sit at my feet under the table. Inevitably when he needs to go out I'm usually doing small detail work and his way of grabbing my attention is by scratching my arm . . . Artists Wren Posted September 17, 2007 Artists Share Posted September 17, 2007 funny Wren mentioned Sophie shirts, I wear mine all the time, even when I go to school for my kids & such, they don't say or give me a odd look (not yet anyways). I've had two bad reactions so far. One I didn't really notice, cause I'm often oblivious, but my husband had a laugh and explained later. A little girl in the supermarket gasping in surprise and pointing at Sophie. Another time we were in a bakery-cafe type restaurant, and on our way out a chorus of three other diners said 'God bless you' or something along those lines, though they hadn't said anything to anyone else entering or leaving the place. Hubby was also wearing something with a fantasy picture on his shirt. (Though not the shirt he has that once prompted a homeless man to ask if he could get a date with the girl on the shirt...) To counterbalance that, our favourite waitress at Waffle Hut thinks Sophie shirt rocks. :-> (It was regular Sophie in all cases, I haven't had any noticeable reactions to cowgirl or sci-fic Sophie yet.) Maybe people in TN just like commenting on other people's clothes a lot. ;->
haldir
to be honest I'm surprised I haven't got responses like the "God bless you" here (small town, but it has it's highly relgious types), heck I'm surprised my M-n-L hasn't said anything, ha ha (thou she isn't one of those, "pay for your sins, now & you'll be welcomed..bla bla type, just she is big supporter of her church in all). heck to be honest I must wear a Reaper shirt every day it seems, since I'm a t-shirt wearing guy & most of my other shirts are either too small, have stuff on them I don't care for anymore (couple of Matt Kenseth nascar shirts) & what not & the Reaper shirts are my newest shirts--yah I'm one of those types if the clothes are fallin off yah, why buy new ones--thou I do need new stuff thou, ha ha) I know one thing this next con I'll bring the army transport bag, think I'll go a bit more compact with my stuff (thou doesn't help I packed the day I left for Boise, this time around.......again LOL) RM

Heisler
Yes, Babe and Porthos are Great Pyrenees, and Jack is alive and well and still will curl up with Babe in the winter. I'd bring them to the show but they are a little old to go on long trips anymore, Babe is 11 now and Porthos turns 11 in November. And they get along just fine with other dogs and cats
