I can say with certainty I will not be doing snow... I'm thinking dank catacombs ::):

Anyone know someone who sells already cast Hirst Arts bricks? I just don't have the room or time to get the molds, cast 'em, and expect the cats to stay out of it or my store clean...

The Monique you mention VV is by Amy Brehm. I like the way Amy has her busting down a door and got rid of the helmet. The piece is "Monique's Dramatic Entrance." It was part of the Masters competition at Reaper Con and was allowed in Gen Con because it did not place there. It didn't place at Gen Con either, but won a Reaper award.

Pretty tough competition when something that lovely doesn't even place in a category.

My Monique is primed, but I'm not happy. How did I miss that mold line in her hair? How did she get all that fuzz under her armpit? AARGH! Probably let the primer sit until tomorrow before I paint. Might strip and start over. Depends on how discusted I am the next time I look at the model.

I'm thinking Dark Elf with white-blue hair, and rich evergreen to emerald armor... her cloak would be a nice deep red... gold buckles, blackened silver sword... Dark an menacing ::):

I would LOVE to see her as a dark elf!! <drool>

I'm thinking about jumping in on this one, too, but it will be a slow go for me as well. I mean, probably really slow (so much depends on my tattooing workload). If people are okay with that, I'll join in. If not, no worries! :upside:

Yeah, there was a lot of debate at Reaper Con about that particular model. It's very nice, very well painted and it's a cool concept. However, the base and setting overpower the rest of the mini. My eye wasn't caught by the model but the "entrance" around the model. You should create a nice background but not so nice a one that it over powers the model. The model needs to be the center of attention.

Anyway, PTF when are we going to see more updates? I really need to get this mini and play around with it.

Ayin:

It's fine with me is you jump in.

Meg:

You mentioned getting the model and painting it. Want to jump in? I'll post some updates as soon as I get painting.

Speaking of painting, I need to work out my color theme. I think I'll go with fair skin, but not sure about the hair color or armor. I might try one of the recipies I have from Thierry Husser that I haven't really tried.

*Sigh*

I'm a failure, I know it.

I have a lot of projects on my plate right now,

I am working on 3 exchange minis and my Warmachine army has been needing some love for a long, long time so I must oblige.

I'm afraid I've had to put Monique on the back burner for probably another month, she'll be a good piece to work on for the Halloween season

Ayin - Please jump in, this thread has been altered as to allow ANYONE working on a 54mm Moniqur to be part of.

While I won't be working on her for the time being (but don't worry she will be finished), I am always here to lend advice to anyone who wants it. Though I am at an intermediate level for painting I always like to help to the best of my abilities.

The reason I am doing so many exchange minis is it gives me a chance to flex my painting muscle and motivates me to learn and attempt to master new techniques.

Sorry to disappoint everyone

PTF, you are not a failure. You just have a lot going on, and if you need to put the lady on hold for a bit, I'm sure she will dominate your shelf (impatiently) until you are ready for her. :poke: And thank you, guys. I will join in, just after I get a few things done, too...

She's going to be my first 54mm, so I'm a bit nervous, but what the heck (must decide color theme)....

I haven't used them myself, but I have heard good things about Castle Kits. They will sell all of the pieces to make the various projects or you can have them cast up specific molds. Hmm, Their address is in Clinton, CT. I wonder if they have a physical store. Can you say, "roadtrip"? :blues:

All mail goes c/o Shoreline Hobby and Crafts... that sounds like it could be an actual store and folks don't use Suite unless it's a storefront or office setting in the address... Hard to tell in the satallite photos on Yahoo Maps... but it very well could have a physical storefront going on of some kind. Or the guy who casts the molds works there.

Anyway, the tracking info for my Monique hasn't updated yet, so... once again.. no mini for me (if it updates it means it's on my porch waiting for me).

Same for me! She's my first 54mm and according to my landlady who was there when the package containing her arrived.. she's sitting on my porch chair. ::):

Hey PTF. If it helps at all you can put one of those exchanges on the backburner and work on Monique. I really dont mind. Everyone is talking about this 54mm scale so much lately I think I just may have to pick one up for myself. Where can I find the miniature?
