Lord Wehrmacht
Meg, Couple questions. What are you going to do with the metal in the armor/pads/sword? Did you hate the chest as much as I did? LW
fieldarchy
I'm going to do the metals in Gold and Silver NMM. I'm going to alternate the two to provide some good contrast. I didn't find the chest difficult to do at all really. The bits between the straps are too small to highlight. Once the laces are painted on then she will look much more put together. What do y'all think of the skin tone? It's a cross between fair and rosy skin. The fair triad is just too light and doesn't provide enough contrast. Lord Wehrmacht
Personally I think its a bit too porcelain, however its probably because I did mine really dark. Also alot depends on how you do the rest and what contrast that provides. Gotta go to the Airshow now.. Look forward to seeing more! Legion
so far looks great Meg. Looking foward to seeing what scheme you go with. As a gamer who love playing thieves I usually have 2 opinions on clothing either subdued leathers or flamboyant. I just always find it hard to go down the middle of the road. That said, maybe a merging of the two. A DARK green leather with copper plates. Just a thought.
Cerridwyn1st
I'd like to see an update. I liked her face in the last pix, but the belly looked a bit off, as if the highlighting was a bit abrupt. I'd like to see what she looks like now. fieldarchy
Well I haven't gotten any more work done on her yet. I'm doing her in spurts. What was it about the stomach that was abrupt though? It may also just be my photo skills. I think she looks really good in person. I'll see if I can get more done at paint club this weekend. It could also be my monitor. It looks like there is a line from the bottom of the vest to the top of the pants that would be to the left of her belly button (her left, not mine). Doesn't look like there is enough transition between shadow and highlight on the highlight in the center of her belly.
fieldarchy
umm theres a line of definition that runs in the middle of her stomach but her belly button is on it. Not sure if you're seeing something I'm not. hmmm . . .
fieldarchy
Mel I'll see if a glaze helps out at all. I'm going to work on this mini tonight for a bit though my batteries in my camera ran out and I can't seem to find my charger
fieldarchy
I did a little more work on her this evening. I actually started highlighting her top and pants. It's hard to see but I'm working on the first stages of highlighting. I want to do a really good job on this mini because I need to start pushing myself to do better. This is a good mini to do that with. So far, I'm liking the way she's turning out.
LordColdsteal
Looks good Meg... When I did this one.. the face gave me some trouble because it was soooo long. It looks like you gave her a good highlight from the mouth to the nose... very good job. Like the hair too
fieldarchy
Thanks LC. Yeah this one is a bear to paint but I like her. I'm hoping she turns out as good as I'm picturing in my head. I just need to slow down and take my time.
fieldarchy
Ok here's what I've gotten done in the past hourish. I was going to ask if the highlights need to go up a bit more but after looking at the photos I think I answered my own question . . . yes they do. Anyway what do y'all think thus far? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Throw at a wall and start over again?
Cerridwyn1st
I wouldn't throw it over a wall and start over. She looks very nice. It is hard to highlight black or dark gray. I think that what I was commenting about with the belly is part of the sculpt, not your painting. It looks smoother now, in fact. I like the detailing you've got on the closure at the top of the bodice.
