I'll take epoxy over broccoli anyday

The reference to getting your greens reminds me of a story I overheard in the classrooms at Gen Con. Apparently, one would-be sculptor advocated chewing the blue and yellow Kneadatite to get the proper blend. Yuck. I think I'll stick with using my fingers.

The only thing I can think of that would be nastier than chewing Greenstuff would be trying the same thing with Apoxysculpt. That stuff is water soluble...

Ecch. I wonder how much Green Stuff someone would have to chew (and suffer any effects thereof) before it would actually seem like a good idea to chew Green Stuff? I recently switched to Werner Klocke's practice of using a moistened sponge (blisterpack foam) rather than licking my sculpting tools, but that was more because I wanted to use a sharp blade for tiny details without the risk of slicing my tongue. Maybe we should all wear muzzles when we sculpt and paint, to avoid any temptation of putting our art-materials in our mouths. :;): (closed-mouth smiley)

The drow (dark elf) figure is a male -- "sorcerer" rather than "sorceress".

Some notes...

The apparent mustache is just a trick of the light, on what I intended to be a small-lipped elven mouth. I would post an alternate view of the head, but I don't see the option to add a file. (Does the ability to add pics differ from thread to thread?)

Under the plates, the hips are very slim. But he is wearing a corset.

My contribution to Talin's concept art was the idea that even a powerful male dark elf is still subservient to the females: they make him wear uncomfortable clothes, no shoes, chains, etc.; he's emaciated and shifty, probably paranoid from lifelong mistreatment. I'll be painting whip-scars on his exposed back....

But if you want to call "him" a "her", who am I to stop you? ::P:

Well... if it helps, I thought he just starved to the point of near death. He does look like he ought to have a whipped look. I'm eager to get my hands on this one for two reasons... He's a drow, and I like elves of all persuasions. The other reason I've bought the other elves you've sculpted... realistic anatomy.. He looks like an underfed guy because he is an underfed guy.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments on Pulger...that should be an interesting set, with several sculptors working on it. there are more coming along as we speak. one note on pulger: there's no way the photographer could know this, but the spear can actually be set so it rests on that little hook on the side of the shield, lowered into a fighting position.

That drow is creepy-cool, derek! and a solid Ridolfi piece, as well as a little gem of a dwarf by Tom Mason...nice little batch!

Jason, while you've posted here, just wanted to say love the goblin ninja you did for Reaper + the guy for Paizo/Mega Miniatures as well, heck I even order 3 more sets (come in 2), just to have a small clan of them, ha ha (grand total for me would be 8 + the Reaper ninja)

love this hobby!!!

I don't know. Other than surgical masks, the only "muzzle" for humans that comes to mind would be really wierd. Someone might get entirely the wrong idea about you if they walked in while you were sculpting or painting.

Speaking of lubricating your tools... I've been using lip balm lately. I started using it to lubricate drill bits and then used it on my sculpting tools as well. Of course, there's something else I've used for my sculpting tools - "personal lubricant." The really thin stuff, not the gel type.

Human saliva is more viscous than water, so the lubricant would be closer in consistency than water. It is water based so it doesn't leave a petroleum coating on your sculpting putty like vasoline or lip balm. Like I said, I've used it before and it seemed to work pretty well. I think I'd repackage it in a dropper bottle if I decided to start using it again. Imagine the looks I'd get when I opened my tool box if I didn't.
