tanker22
Of course it all makes sense now." I see said the blind man" Other than the larger girl mini's I do I have always worked from a black base. How I started and learned years ago. The girls I'll work from white, grey or tan. depending on the look I'm going for. I guess this is due to the translucent properties of the paint. Never really stopped to think about it, just trial and error and go with what works. I was doing alot of the stuff you just listed without knowing it or why on my more recent work. Thanks for explaining Anne, your my hero
Baphomet69
On the primer issue, I've tried them all (black, grey and white). Anne's 1st point sure struck home with me. I hate priming black. I just can't see any of the detail. White's better, but not a whole lot for me, I just prefer grey. Things seem to stand out better for me with it. fieldarchy
Ditto on the black primer. I love me white primer. Much easier to see every little detail and easier to paint bright colors over. And we all know, I like bright colors. Can't wait to see this one come together Anne.
Heisler
I going to make a request here (and break my request). Since this is Anne's WIP we really should keep the comments down to a minimum it will be a lot easier to read it as Anne works her way through it. Since this is Anne's WIP we really should keep the comments down to a minimum it will be a lot easier to read it as Anne works her way through it. I agree, when I was posting my replies I was feeling a bit guilty. Hopefully this isn't taboo to do, but I've created a separate thread for us to remark on the WIP. If it is a no-no, mods please delete this thread. Otherwise, I ask that everyone but Anne use this thread for comments on her current WIP, and she can reply to our questions and comments in this thread. Consider this an experiment... Versutus Vulpes
Well - if Anne is okay with it - I think it is a great idea. It should make the WIP alot easier to follow. With that said - I am really looking forward to seeing this come together. Though I may never paint for competition - I like the idea of being able to see a competition level WIP. Thanks for taking the time to do this Anne.
Cerridwyn1st
Sounds good to me. I've been holding off making any comments on the thread because I want to see pix, not my own blurbs.
Helltown
This is a great idea Keeps the chatter to a minimum on the actual WiP and the really great part... We'll always know when Anne's updated it because she'll be the only one posting on it
ReaperShaun
re: Anne's primer I'm almost 100% sure she used Tamya fine surface primer (spray can). I have never seen her use anything other than that. I tried it and threw my old spray primer out.
tanker22
Thanks for all the input on the primer. I'll start trying white more often to see how it turns out for me.
