Rigged4Mini
I didn't take a pic of the back..the cape didn't come out to well..Not really happy with it since I basically gave it 3 layers and washed it. The armor is not really doing it for me either..
tanker22
Sounds like you arn't to satisfied with it. If I was you I would probably strip it and start over. Then again I get real picky about my work sometimes when I get a idea in my head of what I want. If I'm not happy with the way its coming out its bath time. Beowulfthehunter
If you don't like how he is turning out then why bother with a WIP where you start by saying you are going to stip the model.
Cerridwyn1st
Put it aside for a day or two, then come back and add some highlights. I think you will like it better then.
wyrmgear
I agree with Cerridwyn1st, sometimes you just need 'fresh eyes'. And that blue cloth looks really good...

Not sure if you were looking for confirmation about the paint job not being great or what the motivation was. Either way, I don't think he looks that bad. Just start a new project for now. ReaperShaun
Hilight the gold armor with a bit of pearl white and you may see some major differences.
Enchantra
I actually think he looks good. Put him aside and work on another mini for a bit then come back to him. Some more highlighting on the armor should make him pop more. Highlight his hair and skin a bit more too and he'll be fine.
Cerridwyn1st
You need the highlight the metals the same as you would painting with non-metalic paint. You might also need to progressively shadow the recesses, rather than doing a wash. You might want to do some research on Near-Metal Metalics. fieldarchy
you mean Demi Metallics Mel? Mixing paint with metallics to create shadow colors?
Cerridwyn1st
you mean Demi Metallics Mel? Mixing paint with metallics to create shadow colors? Yup, that. I believe I've heard both terms used. I think Richard calls them Demi-metalics, while David Pawles (took a class with him at Gen Con) call them Near Metal effects. I think with Richard's technique it is more building up from a dark color with very little metalic paint, while with what Dave P is doing it is more shading with paint or ink. Dave recommens Golden Flow Acrylics for this.
