anvil
Yesterdays session was the Decemberists, that seemed to go ok. Pretty good album, and lots more paint on the exchange pieces. But with 2 kids, I rarely get to listen to music, normally it's the Disney channel. Poor Zach and Cody, will they ever find direction in their lives? Ironworker
I've had a hard time lately staying at it for more than a couple hours. This however is partly because I've only had a few hours to paint but also because things crop up. I've been doing one late night session a week to combat this. People don't tend to call me between 9pm and 3am so I try to paint at least one time a week during those hours. The quietness helps me stay focused but I can't do that often because it wears me out. Versutus Vulpes
Currently I have all 4 episodes of the War taped and ready to go when I feel the need to start a painting binge. Warning - This documentary is mesmerizing... I started to do the same thing and my paint dried on the pallet!! Dern good show.
PaintByNumbers
I also DVD'ed The War but I used the digital broadcast channel and I think there are a lot of dropouts and loss of signal entirely. I know one episode at least is totally unwatchable.
Jubilee
I also listen to alot of audio books. I have a subscription at audible.com for 2 books each month, and I borrow alot from my library, as well as take advantage of library2go & netlibrary. having an audio book definately extends my paint sessions! I can only put in a movie if it's one I have seen so often it is pratically memorized - anything Pixar, the lord of the rings' trilogies, the mummy, and a couple of others. Anything with humor that is primarily verbal rather than physical also works. But I can't watch something I actually want to pay attention to and paint (but we don't have cable and have virtually no TV reception in the hobby room anyway). When I can't settle on anything else, I'll usually listen to NPR.
Cerridwyn1st
This may seem odd to those of you who like music in the background, but I kind of like painting in quiet. It's less distracting for me. That, and I have so much background noise at work that a little quiet is welcome.
