EntilZha
Only 16 more shopping days till Halloween..... I love Halloween, it's my favorite holiday. So around this time every year I hit the seasonally open Halloween stores (Spirit, Halloween Express, etc.) in my neck of the woods for costumes and other cool stuff (I'm going as Harry Potter this year), including music. They have the always excellent Midnight Syndicate CD's, sound effects discs, and then there's these so-called "Ultimate Halloween Party Music" discs. On them there are some songs which one would typically associate with Halloween, like Monster Mash, the Ghostbusters theme, Werewolves of London. However, most of them have songs that have as much to do with Halloween as Deck the Halls, O Holy Night, and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer have to do with Valentine's Day. Hot Hot Hot by Buster Poindexter, Disco Inferno, Love Shack, and YMCA do not even begin to remotely make me think of All Hallow's Eve. Lame-O-Rama City. I want to say to the convention of genetic defectives who put these stink bombs together, "PICK SOME SONGS WITH SOME RELEVANCE TO HALLOWEEN!!!" So, I made my own 2 CD set of Halloween music which is infinitely better than anything you can get at Spirit or Party City. Here's what I came up with: Disc 1 ------- 1. Introduction (with Elvira, Mistress of the Dark) 2. Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare 3. Blue Oyster Cult - (Don't Fear) The Reaper 4. Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross - The Halloween Spooks 5. Pantera - Cemetery Gates 6. The Tubes - Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman 7. Focus - Hocus Pocus 8. The Cramps - I Was a Teenage Werewolf 9. Black Sabbath - The Wizard 10. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark - Bride of Frankenstein 11. Weird Al Yankovic - Slime Creatures from Outer Space 12. Screamin' Jay Hawkins - Little Demons 13. Oingo Boingo - Weird Science 14. Whodini - The Haunted House of Rock 15. Cradle of Filth - Halloween II 16. The Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra 17. The Cramps - The Creature from the Black Leather Lagoon 18. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark - Zombie Stomp 19. Rob Zombie - Dragula Disc 2 ------- 1. Ray Parker, Jr. - Ghostbusters Theme 2. Bobby "Boris" Pickett - Monster Mash 3. Megadeth - The Conjuring 4. Weird Al Yankovic - Nature Trail to Hell 5. Tim Wilson - I Think My Sister's Boy Is a Vampire 6. Angel Witch - Sorceress 7. Alice Cooper - Feed My Frankenstein 8. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - Nightmare on My Street 9. Slayer - Black Magic 10. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark - Haunted House 11. The Cramps - Big Black Witchcraft Rock 12. Blue Oyster Cult - Godzilla 13. The Eagles - Witchy Woman 14. Cradle of Filth - Cemetery and Sundown 15. Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London 16. Rob Zombie - Living Dead Girl 17. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark - Monster Rap 18. Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party 19. Outro (Elvira) There's quite a bit of metal on these discs because, well, Metal's the Official Music of Halloween!! tanker22
You got alot of cool songs on there, but one of the first things that seemed a bit odd was how your mixing in hard core rock with kiddy songs like wierd Al and a few others. Just think I would of stuck with one style or another. Understand your tying to stay with Halloween related songs for it. Guess alot of that depends on your personnal tast and the target age group though.
Baphomet69
It's an eclectic mix, to be sure, but if he's using it for Halloween parties or something, I think the variation would work. I actually wouldn't mind having that collection myself!
mattmcl
Bauhaus has some good stuff- Bella Lugosi's Dead, etc.
chesme
Good mix there... I actually meant to go through my collection and do this too last month, but got caught up in convention stuffs. Though, I would definitely have to add Type O Negative - Black No. 1. They even say "Happy Halloween" in the lyrics. Then again, their song Be My Druidess is good too. And silly me, let's not forget Hallow's Eve. You'll have to excuse me...I'm a fool for their cheesy gothy sound. I'll go sit back down now. Edit: Now that I think of it, Be My Druidess probably wouldn't be appropriate for all parties. It all depends upon the age group and genre of the crowd. ;) Edited October 14, 2007 by chesme
Star Drifter
Yeah, lists like these tend to be a lot to do with personal taste. I have a collection of horror movie scores that I'll probably end up playing while our house hands out candy this year. My own personal mix runs from the obscure and goofy (3-D Invisibles, Zombina and the Skeletones) to a lot of the usual goth/metal stuff. But even then, I'm surrounded by various non-Ipod mp3 players that allow me to peruse entire albums.

mattmcl
Off of "relics" wasnt it? The studio version was originally a b-side I think, and it was released on Relics. The live version appears on Ummagumma.
