Angorak
I also use a old ratty brush to transfer from the pot to the pallet. I've had the same set of GW paints for over three years probably closer to five..rarely have I had a pot dry out to the point of having to discard it. So far there are still colors that I couldn't replace with any RMS like Dark Angels Green, Snakebite Leather, all the reds. So until Ann gets to replacing some of the colors in the RMS with ones that are equivalent I will always have those in my pallette. I love the RMS for the most part but I also love the GW's. Lars Porsenna
I transfer all mine to 1oz glass bottles, and thin the paint right in the bottle, usually 50/50 paint to thinner (with the thinner being 33/33/33 of water/flow improver/retarder). Works pretty well for the paints, though the actual quality of the paints varies... Damon.
sam500
I use a Rainin LTS Pipette to grab 50 microliters at a time. Here's an example of a Gilson: http://cgi.ebay.com/Gilson-Pipetman-P100-V...1QQcmdZViewItem
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted October 19, 2007 Moderator Share Posted October 19, 2007 I used to use the "old-ratty-brush" method. Now, I use the "store-the-GW-and-Liquitex-paints-in-a-bin-on-the-top-shelf-and-paint-with-the-RMS-paints" method. It is working well for me. Moderator TaleSpinner Posted October 22, 2007 Moderator Share Posted October 22, 2007 Actually, I thought they'd make good starter paints for my 8-year old, so he's not using up all of my RMS as he attempts his first mini this winter. He's not the neatest person in the world. TS
Thes Hunter
Actually, I thought they'd make good starter paints for my 8-year old, so he's not using up all of my RMS as he attempts his first mini this winter. He's not the neatest person in the world. TS TS, after 2 accidents already with our 7 year old, I would recommend getting dropper bottles if you want to let your child use the GW paints. Our boy is struggling to get the lids off of everything but the very newest type of GW bottle. (The hexagonal clear bottle with the black cap and a flip top is what I am talking about.) Most of my GW paints are the old style in the small white plastic bottles with the different colored caps for washes, metallics, normal and glazes. These are a struggle even for me to get off. So me and my boyfriend have to omnipresent when the kids are painting so we can open all the bottles for them and put the paint on the wet palette for them. Then the wide open mouths are a problem, if they are ever tipped over. Also, being that GW paints need to be thinned so much for them to be usable, it's much harder for the 7 year old to paint because he won't take the effort to thin the paint and slops it on as thick as he can. Just my $0.02. I hope it helps, but also, a plastic rain jacket for a paint smock does wonders to protect clothing as well. Though right now our boys have taken to painting in their undies. vejlin
yeah I recommend dropper bottles too. Plus GW paints are the most expensive per ml content (at least around here)
