So lets summarize the Sawx are in the World Series, Brady and the Pats are doing a rendition of Sherman in Georgia to the NFL, Boston College is #2 in the BCS rankings, the Celtics get Garnett, and the Bruins are even playing better. Is God renting in Boston ATM? Is Babe Ruth drunk in heaven? What's going on here?!?!?

*muttergrumble* Yeah well... Ohio's still got the Buckeyes, y'know.. the #1 team in the BCS? It's a good year for Ohio, the Indians made it to the ALCS, the Browns are doing well, and the Cavaliers have never looked better. The Buckeyes are doing well out of Columbus, hopefully the Blue Jackets improve this year, and maybe the Bungles... I mean Bengals will stay out of trouble long enough to remind everyone they're a decent team afterall. Now... what do we do about the Reds... think Baltimore would take those like they took the original Browns lineup a few years ago?

... The pro teams in Ohio just can't afford to buy a good roster, we gotta grow 'em. But I'll say this about NE Ohio... when the teams are doing good the people there feel better about the area ::D:

Is Boston burning yet?? ::D:::P:

congrats RS nation on anther title, at least this one didn't take anther 86 years or so.

I think that layoff killed the Rockies, hurt the Tigers last year as well. Didn't watch any of the WS this year, mainly due to each game was nights I worked---sleep more important then baseball!!!

I think a lack of hitting, pitching and experience is what killed the Rockies more than anything. The layoff can only be blamed for the first game, maybe two at best. Look at how well Lester pitched last night, and he hasn't started since September.

The Rockies have some great talent, and much of it young. This experience can only help them in future seasons. They should be a team to reckon with for sometime if they can manage not to lose the team to free agency.

I think the biggest problem though is just that they were a National League team, and the American League has just been so dominant over the past few years.

I'm quite pleased with the performance and glad Lowell received the MVP. He's been nothing but a class act here in Boston and does what is expected of him quietly and without fanfare.

Looks like there was a little trouble in Boston by the idiot college kids. Couple flipped cars, but no fires, rampant looting, etc.

Now, I can sit back, and relax, and watch New England stomp a mudhole in commercial boy.

It makes me laugh, how they are so busy playing up how the Colts haven't lost in 12 games, yet a couple years back when the Pats won 17 in a row, all those playoff games didn't count. Should be a great game nonetheless.

The Rockies were just a bit over matched. Boston's lineup is just murderous, looking at the national league the team that may have matched up best against them might have been S.D. (best pitching staff in the majors this year) But the problem is the Padres hitting was way too light. So I send my congratz to the BoSox and wonder how much money they will throw at A-Rod if Lowell goes elsewhere, If you missed it, Rodriguez has opted out of his contract. Can anyone imagine a linep with 3,4,5, of A-Rod, Ortiz, and Ramirez!?! The "27 Yanks" might become the SECOND most feared lineup in baseball history...

I'm a fourth generation Red Sox fan in Colorado. Man, it's hard trying to work with these people today! They're moping around like someone killed their puppy...

I don't see why they really didn't let us down. They just choked later in the post season than expected.

Yeah, normally they choke sometime between Spring Training and the All-Star break. They did good this year. Heck, it took the Broncos four tries (or was it five) to finally win the Super Bowl. The Rockies still have 3 more World Series to lose before I'll be disappointed in them.

The big issue is that Lowell is likely going to be looking for more years than the Sox are willing to sign him for, due to his age. Current talk is that Lowell would prefer 4 years while the Sox want 2 with an Option. Although this is a very poor market for quality third basemen, I don't think (hope) money will be the problem. Especially after things like the J.D. Drew signing. It wouldn't surprise me if the Yankees pull a Damon though and scoop him up just to stick it to the Sox.

I'd love to see the Sox nut up and offer Lowell 3 years with a team option for a fourth for around $15-17 million.

I hope to god Aknob never dons a Red Sox uniform. He's a tremendous hitter and fielder, but he has no heart, and the sandlot crap he has pulled in games in the past, I just don't want him in Boston. Let Torre bring him over the Dodgers with him. It's an appropriate team, since Aknob seems to dodge all the important games.

Sox have done perfectly fine without him. Every team with him has accomplished...NOTHING.

I was listening to a NY sports talk show on ESPN the other day and its was astounding to hear Yankee fans complaing that A-Rod was leaving for nothing but the $!!! Uhh excuse me how many times have the Yanks taken good players from other teams in the exact same scenario!?!? As a fan of a small market team (Pirates) I was so disgusted I changed the channel, but I was laughing a bit thinking "You reap what you sow boys!"

Well, he's a Boros client, so he is always going to go for the money to an extent, but the Yankees are talking about rebuilding and there is one thing Aknob hasn't done, and that is play in a World Series, let alone win one. Before he became a Yankee, he was really close to being a Red Sox, but the Player's Association stepped in and said he could not waive his contract and accept less money to play in Boston, so he went to New York instead. So it's not always about the money.

I think he was just miserable in NY and never fit in and wasn't loved and adored like he has to be, so he took the first chance to leave he could.

I agree 100% Qwyk he wants out of NY, bad news for the Mets I spose, News now is Little is OUT in LA and Torre may be IN. Wonder if that is a foreshadowing of A-Rod's future? We shall see... A-Rod throwing across the diamond to "Nomaaar" some irony in that!
