fieldarchy
One of her professor's is ahead of the excavation of a Civil War fort, Fort Wright. My wife digs sometimes, but when they aren't digging she works in the lab cleaning the artifacts. She may get to excavate some Indian mounds in the future, we are in a hotbed of Hopewell mounds. She's still not sure if she wants to go more towards archeaology or cultural or physical, but wants to eventually teach. She has mentioned an interest Anthropological Forensics a few times. I've done a lot of Native American excavations in AZ as well as digging in Pompeii for a month. I had the opportunity to go to Greece to excavate one of the proposed "Atlantis" sites but I couldn't afford it. It was a long project and I just didn't have the savings to do that and still be able to pay my bills. How far along in her program is she? It took me until my Junior year to figure out I'm good at Cultural yet find it boring as all get out (even though my profs kept trying to push me that way . . . ) that I enjoyed Linguistics ok but the human body and what it can tell you is just FASCINATING! I love me skellies! Love 'em. They are so interesting and the dead really can speak to you if you know how to translate what they have to say. Paleopathology and Biological archaeology are my areas of interest. I want to know how people lived, what affected them in life, the diseases they suffered and survived, what they died from, etc.

I think she'll probably get her undergrad in cultural anthropology with a minor in Native American studies. What she takes for her graduate studies is a mystery. She likes the forensics and archeology and folklore aspects quite a bit, but that's quite a ways off.
PurityThruFire
Okee dokee, what do I like to do besides gaming and painting minis...hmmm... I enjoy annoying the hell out of my girlfriend Erica, yet she still loves me...she must be crazy. Playing with my 8 month old Pug Takashi...we take lots of walks (which I need ). Um...so, my DVD collection is around 2,000 films, most of which are either horror or Samurai films, some other oddball stuff thrown in there too. Sitting around drinking rootbeer doing nothing in particular. I enjoy a steady diet of boardgames (yet another large collection of mine). Reading, yup...you guessed it...horror novels. Yeah...that's it in a nutshell.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted November 2, 2007 Moderator Share Posted November 2, 2007 Fly fishing/tying (much in common between fly tying and mini painting actually) Ooo, that's one I forgot to mention. I love fly tying, but I haven't had time to go fly fishing since my youngest was born (almost 4 years ago now). Next year, I swear! Some of my flies TS

PurityThruFire
do you know where to find the japanese version of "Legend of the 8 samurai"? my english dub is TERRIBLE!!! Sadly the gorgeous copy I have of Legend of the 8 Samurai (put out by Adness under their Sonny Chiba collection line) is out of print. It is widescreen, uncut and in Japanese. However, it look like you can still pick up a copy from HK Flix, a very trustworthy company. I've dealt with them many times. I would grab up a copy while you still can. Being able to see it widescreen, uncut and in it's original language is amazing, it is one hell of a fun film. Let's see, recently I have seen some cool stuff. For pure Samurai action my highest recommendation goes to both Azumi and The Princess Blade, now if you are looking for a little more drama I would go for The Twilight Samurai or The Hidden Blade. All 4 of these films are must owns in my most humble opinion, which isn't always shared by the rest of the group.

John Lee
I don't have a lot of time ( 4 kids, shift work, etc...), but when I do get some I like to garden, cook, work on my bonsai trees, fly r/c airplanes. I also collect stamps. I also like to read, especially on the back porch in the evenings. John Lee
