joshuaslater
I say "ho, ho, ho" all year 'round.

Mojoman
'and what's this gonna do to the Green Giant?!?!?!?! I know... how else is he supposed to let people know he is jolly? I mean, "Ho, ho, ho" really says it all. Sheesh. -mojoman
Krztoff
Think about it. The kids are expecting a "Ho ho ho". Now Santa looks at you and says "Ha ha ha". The only logical explanation is that Santa is laughing at you (or retarded). This is going to crush their self esteem, and make them hate Santa for the rest of their lives. Just wait. They'll grow up and end up killing fat bearded guys in red shirts just because some moron decided that "ho ho ho" was too offensive. I'm guessing being knee-deep in fat bearded men in red shirts won't be much better for them than hearing the phrase "ho ho ho".
rgtriplec
I heard this on Bob and Tom this morning, but they said that most of the Santas were very vocal about not liking the policy. Until a few days ago Lowes had adopted a policy to not sell Christmas Trees or Christmas Ornaments. They were going to sell Family Trees and Holiday Ornaments. But a rash of complaints made them change back to Christmas. In Florida last week an elderly lady at a rest home was told to take a Christmas tree off of her patio because Christmas may offend someone. Political correctness is really beginning to get under my skin.
kristof65
In Florida last week an elderly lady at a rest home was told to take a Christmas tree off of her patio because Christmas may offend someone. See, I don't get that at all. I'm all for christmas, seeing christmas decorations, putting them up, etc but that doesn't mean that someone visibly celebrating Hannakah is offensive to me. I mean, the only way I'll complain if my neighbor puts up a 6 ft light up Star of David on his front lawn is if it's bright enough to keep my bedroom lit in the middle of the night. The only case I can see it getting touchy is when governments put up overtly religious displays on their property without giving free access to other religions. <sigh> The way it's going, soon couples won't be able to celebrate Valentines Day in a public place like a restaurant because they might offend lonely single people... Warlady
I showed this to Chaoswarlord, whose response was, "Whatever you censor can always be replaced with something more offensive. How about, "Yo, b*tch, here's your gift!" Some years ago, I worked for an organization once where we closed the office between Christmas and New Year, since so many people always asked for it off. We had fewer other holidays during the year, but it was worth it to get an extra week of paid vacation. And the day before we closed the office, we always had a catered company lunch. However, it went from being called the Christmas luncheon, to Holiday luncheon, and finally to Winter luncheon, because we actually had people in the office complain about the name.... :-P "Ho, ho, ho," is at least traditional. I'm more offended by the hot pink and lime tinsel Xmas trees I saw in the store - what bad drug trip did *those* come from...? :-P
Brushmaster
Oh brother! What's next? No more ho ho ho Yep , I read this in the local paper last night at work . It dismays how political correctness no rules the way things are done in my country with every little minority having their rights to do "their" thing but the typical christian anglosaxon Aussie keeps getting put down for things we have been doing for years . Next year - No Easter Bunny ?

I'm too traditional, I'm even opposed to the white trees and pre-lighted ones. A Christmas tree is green, you put lights and garland on it. Then you put ornaments. A variety of mismatched ornaments. A Christmas tree is not a tabletop army. The ornaments don't need a unifying theme. The sterile white trees with nothing but white lights and green and red bulbs you see put up at the mall disgust me, and the recent flood of blue and silver ornaments even more so. CuCulain42
No Easter Bunny ? Of course, everyone knows that a "Bunny" is one of those women who hang out with Hugh and have nekkid pictures taken of them.
kristof65
A Christmas tree is not a tabletop army. The ornaments don't need a unifying theme. Then I probably shouldn't tell you about my sister's Donald Duck tree She collects Donald Duck stuff, and about 8-9 years ago, she finally had enough Donald Duck ornaments to dedicate to a seperate tree. So they have their 9 ft tree in the main family room, and then she has a little 5' Donald Duck themed tree in the upstairs rec room. If it ain't a Disney Duck (Donald, Daisy, Scrooge, etc) it doesn't go on her themed tree... My wife and I could probably do a Warner Bros themed tree if we wanted to - but we only have room for one tree.
Krztoff
That doesn't bother me. Its the people who's only ornaments are the matching sets. It results in a lifeless and unmemorable tree. You raise kids around that and they'll grow up with memories like "remember when we got this ornament? It was in a 12 pack at target"
