ROTFLMAO....

Panty prank benches 6 cheerleaders

Ok, the girls shouldn't have defied their coach and done it anyway, but this would have been hilarious to see... The only reason I'm supporting their punishment is that they expilicitely defied their coach - but the prank itself is priceless. And I thik their coach should have let them do it in the first place.

EDIT: Uh oh...what does it say that this happened to be my 3000th post? Whoops, if I had realized that, I would have gone for something more intellectual.

Yeah I have to agree it's pretty funny! Even if I was their coach I don't think I could really punish the girls. I'd probably laugh and just make them clean the locker room. I mean, c'mon who at that game didn't appreciate that? It's hot cheerleader @$$.

I've got to agree. If you're a guy, and you don't want to see that or don't appreciate it, you're a freak.

Yup! Couldn't agree more. Heck I'm a female and could appreciate that. How is it any different than the girls on the swim team doing the same except instead of panties they have it on the butts of their suits? Oooh it's still hot chicks scantily clad showing their rears!

We had decals on our rears when I was on swim team. And we would do WAY worse to people at meets. You want to talk about a rowdy bunch man . . . swimmers are a whole different breed!

Well, I'll give you two reasons why a guy may not enjoy such a panty shot.

First of all, this was kind of senseless. A woman who you appreciate and who returns the favor is an enjoyable experience. A random person (a guy?) showing his undergarments unexpectedly (at the office?) is harassment and potentially illegal. (But Sally! I wrote "Happy Wednesday" on them!)

Second, there may be a stronger legal matter. These women don't all sound like they're old enough to vote - or to consent. I hate to drag this post down, but there may be more to the issue than a foolish prank.

The thing is, I doubt it was their actual underwear. It sounds like it was the little tap pants most cheerleaders wear under their skirts that gets flashed to the audience every time the do a lift, toss, flip, high kick, spin, etc. This isn't really situation where you could consider it harassment or even remotely illegal, given that what they are showing is part of the uniform and it is something that is seen regularly during the course of their performance.

I personally find it funny, and have to agree, a suspension from school seems a little hamfisted. I could agree with a suspension from cheerleading activities, maybe some form of community service - cleaning up the stands, locker room, gym, etc.

I am glad to see though that they at least are showing some concern about missing assignments and coursework instead of considering the suspension free vacation.

Given the actual nature of the prank, I personally wouldn't put it in the category of harrasment. Nor would most people I know, although I do have a couple of aunts who would probably find it in poor taste.

It's obviously the harrassment and other concerns (age, etc) that led the coach to veto the idea in the first place. Which is a shame, in my view. We take some of these little things way too seriously

I agree I think a sport suspension would have been more appropriate. I don't see where this is all that serious. In fact I don't see why disiplinary action went futher than the coach.

I would really hate to be a kid these days trying to enjoy high school. I mean, we had rules and things to follow but we could still get away with a lot.

From what I can tell senior pranks are done away with these days, sports pranks such as this one are not condoned apparently, does that mean team hazing such as our Rude Awakening morning would be banned as well? Rude Awakening was the older kids on the swim team coming around to get us "newbs" at whatever time in the morning, they drag us out in our PJs (or whatever you are wearing/not wearing) and take us to IHOP before school. And then you had to wear your PJs and slippers around school all day. <shrugs> harmless, but so much fun!

Even the rules about what kids can wear and the dancing that is banned, give me a break! Kids need to have certain freedoms in order to learn right from wrong, what is acceptable and not acceptable, and it's better for kids to engage in some "dirty dancing" in front of adults than do something more drastic in a back alley.

Was trying to avoid this topic - title like that just can't be good...Then I read the article, and it is simple stupidity.

I wen't to a private preparatory high school (80% of the students went on to become either teachers in Christian schools or pastors). It wasn't one of these new fangled religious groups either with the guitars and all that - very straight laced WELS backing. Even with all that, our cheerleaders did routinely do exactly what this group is being punished for. Either something like GO VIKES! or some other set of letters on their bloomers.

People really need to get a grip.

Because as a society we've become uptight. My guess is that one of the reasons the coach vetoed it in the first place is the overreaction by others.

Meg - remember, most people seem to feel that what they ban isn't happening. You know - out of sight, out of mind.

Not to mention having to walk through metal detectors or get wanded...When I was in school almost every guy and some of the girls carried a pocket knife. Not because it was a weapon but because it is a tool.

@cucu--yeah that does beg the question, will they eventually do away with home ec or shop because they use sharp pointy objects in those classes?

Well, one things for certain - I'm sure that you can't make swords, gun stocks or crossbows in wood/metal shop any more. Which is sad, because that crossbow was one of the coolest projects I witnessed any of my classmates make. And it wasn't like it was handled irresponsibly, either - the student had to get permission from both their parent, and the shop teacher, they had to have a decent grade point average, the item(s) were locked up in a secure area unless they were being worked on, and once they were finished, their parent had to accompany them to pick them up.

Hmm - I'll bet the archery team is gone from my old high school now, too.

They have here in town. I teach classes at one of the local high schools after hours for students who fill out a long set of legal forms and releases by their parents. They got rid of the shop classes/home economics (the actual cooking/sewing parts - they still have some BS class that teaches people how to balance a check book) three years ago due to safety concerns. I managed to get them started back up last year by offering my time for free and getting a pretty well bullet proof release form done up by my lawyer (releases the school from liability at least, I carry my own insurance just in case someone gets a bit too close to a table saw blade).
