Madog Barfog
Sorry, no pics yet, but hopefully later. Yeah, I finished 52 in 2007, enough to clear 2/3 of my unpainted mini diplay case*. I wasn't trying for 52 (until late December when I had 48 done plus a few more almost done), but it worked out. Remember when your statistic teacher said an average of 1 per week doesn't mean 1 was completed in any given week? My numbers were boosted by a speed paint of 14 assorted rats and 10 Megaminis ants, which took no more than 3 weeks total. I got off to a really slow start, too. By April I had done little more than a few lizardmen (the ones with custom bases). Those bases took a while to figure out! I doubt I'll do it again, and I don't expect to set any particular goal this year. If this sounds like progress on the unpainted mini pile, realize I bought at least 90 in 2007, and already have plans for 2008! When you run a mini related website, these things happen. Good luck to all here, and may your painted mini shelf overflow with completed goodness! *If I did it again; it's full at the moment. Heisler
52? I'm sorry I had already trippled your yearly production by last April. My final numbers were probably around 300 but then I have been painting lots of 15mm WWII Infantry and tanks this year.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted January 5, 2008 Moderator Share Posted January 5, 2008 52 minis in a year is perfectly respectable and cause for celebration. Me, I'm trying for "complete more than I acquire" this year.
72moonglum
All I can say is that I am ultra jealous! With the exception of my six miniatures in two weeks while I was on medical leave, I'm lucky if I get a miniature every other week completed! Mad Jack
I'm pretty sure I haven't done 52 in the last ten years...
claymoore
That's a very respectable number of minis to paint in a year. In 2007 I painted 280 plus figures. Many of those were troops for Warmachine and Warlord but there were several large dragons as well. This year I'll probably paint fewer figures so I can concentrate on some projects that will be more demanding. Whether you paint one fig or a thousand if it makes you happy it's a good thing. haldir
ummmmmm 0 in 07 yah I know pretty darn pathetic, just haven't had the urge to paint lately. I buy minis & love minis, but just haven't felt like painting after Rcon last year. Hopefully that will change come Weds this week, have 3 days off (stuck a vacation day onto my days off this week), so I hope to get a few small Wiebe figs done. congrats on the 52 thou, heck if I could finish half of that, I'd be happy with myself RM
anvil
And I thought I was alone. RCON killed my painting, too. Information overload or something. I'm thinking of finishing up my BFG Eldar fleet just to put paint to pewter.
GreyHorde
52, eh? Well done! That's more than double my '07 count at 25. For me, 25 was more than double the previous year (9), so I'm making progress. '07 for me included 19 high-tabletop quality dwarves for Warlord, a Halloween online contest diorama entry, a Halloween online contest single entry, a GW mounted Bretonnian knight conversion (display quality, for practice), and three gift/exchange minis done to display quality. I also got a serious start on several more 'Bench Queens' and a basic start on about 10 others. So, no speed records were broken, but it was still more work to higher standards than I had ever managed previously. Sorry, I don't mean to steal your thunder, MB. I'm just chiming in, noticing that 52 is a nice benchmark total and using it for inspiration. Maybe it will push me to crank out a few more this year. Do you have a goal for this year? fieldarchy
I don't know how many I did. Quite a few considering the little time I spent painting due to school.
Ironworker
I did somewhere between 50-60 which is pretty pathetic considering what i could have acomplished but I had long dry spells. I'm not sure exactly how many because there are a few minis I'm not sure if I painted early in 07 or late in 06.
warlordgarou
I don't know how many I painted (meaning finished) in 2007, but I am pretty certain it is less than 10. I blame adding the second kid, training for some races, and pouring lots of Hirst Arts molds for my lack of painting.
Madog Barfog
Sorry, I don't mean to steal your thunder, MB. I'm just chiming in, noticing that 52 is a nice benchmark total and using it for inspiration. Maybe it will push me to crank out a few more this year. Do you have a goal for this year? I knew there would be a large variance in numbers, with some completing FAR more (like 300!). No one who did fewer should feel bad, there were spans of years in which I did not complete 52 minis total. I generally don't paint very fast, except for the ants & rats, and I almost always strive for my best, although sometimes the results don't reflect that. Goals for this year? Nothing definite. I'll definitely be picking up some minis, but I hope to paint about as many as I get. It may not be one/week, as I have a new job & need to devote time to that. Essentially, I want to continue to improve, to paint faster, and to enjoy it (and there are times when I'm less interested than others). Progress is being made on the camera front, so maybe I'll be able to share some pics :)
cutebutpsycho
52 is nothing to be ashamed of! I've wondered how many I do, although I know I did at least 8 a week from the beginning of October through the end of the year, so this year I'm counting. I say as long as you're enjoying yourself, your number is good!
