Hi there,

Here´s a WIP of my Sasquatch. Im still not finished with the skin ( obviously :P ). Also im not sure about the red eyes and the hair.

For the hair im thinking about black, but it´s a way difficult to paint you know ;), or something like GW Bleached Bone or Kommando Khaki ( Dunno the names of the Vallejo Colors yet ^^ )...What do you think?

I really like what you've done so far - can't wait to see more progress..... if you don't want to go fully black with the hair - how about a very dark brown (GW Scorched Brown or Reaper Walnut) and reserve the black for the shadows - still get a dark finish - without the hassles of highlighting black?

Hey there,

I just started to paint the hair. I chose a brown/red color and blent it to orange, because i think it makes him looking more wild. Of course it´s still WIP :P

Additionally i started painting the rest of his skin. Face will be done at last...

Huhu,

Actually i wanted to finish him today but i kicked him accidentally ( <-- does this word exist? ) THREE TIMES off my table... Lost everytime Color and i had to repaint some of the Skin blendings.

Now hes almost done...But theres still the base...Any ideas for it?

First of all ...Shall i use his base? I would cover it with sand and Grass and Stuff... Or would i get bad rating for using the normal Reaper base?

I thought of snow....as a contrast...

And then theres the Problem that i dont get him off his base, because i would ruin all my work....

I'd keep the base, but glue it on to one of the larger, round bases with a lip. I know Reaper has the 40mm ones in their store. What is the dimension of the longest point accross the base? If it's inside 40mm, then that would work. There are also the 2" square bases they sell. If the base is longer than 40mm, then there are some other companies that sell larger bases.

Glueing figures like this to a base with a lip works well, because you can fill in the bare base areas with green stuff, putty, flock, etc., to transition it up to the base the figure comes with, but you can still keep the details that are on the base that he comes with, like the rocks and tree stumps. Does that make sense?

Here's an example of how I did this with "Christina The Devout". I used a different brand of base, and it's a smaller mini, but you can get the idea:

Good luck, and show us what you decide!

Thats an awesome idea, thanks :)

Im pretty sure i will find a fitting base. Maybe i even got some here at home...

And I decided using some snow or ice stuff as i think it will give the miniature some extra contrast.

Thanks! (I hope you gave her a good vote! :poke: )

Good luck with the base. I think the snow thing is a good idea.

Bases are becoming much more elaborate these days. Check out Fieldarchy's "Shaedra the Palladin" in the forums lately. It's very nice.

Mrika's Nienna is another great example of using those bases with a "lip". I love them for doing what you're needing to do - glue minis that already have bases to a bigger base where you have to add flock.

I look at this mini and practically drool... or weep...

I also did some Copplestone Russian Partisans that had their own bases, and I glued them to bases like that:

The point is, when you have minis that already have bases sculpted in (not the "slotta-base" kind), you can glue them down to a base like these that have the lip, which provides a depth for additional sculpting and flock, so you can hide the edges of the original metal base very easily. I LOVE 'em!

Later!
