Just admit that deep down inside, you love Jane Austin, and you used the cat excuse to stay and watch it with your wife. Wuss Beside, you haven't experienced true torture until you let yourself get convinced by your wife to pay to see Kate and Leopold when it was in the theatre. On the plus side, it allows me to trump most any movie choice I absolutely have no interest in seeing whatsoever. Last weekend, I wanted to see the "Cloverfield" movie and my wife wanted to see "Juno". So we went to "Juno". She wasn't real happy with me afterwards when I told her it was the chick version of "Napoleon Dynamite", but I still got what I wanted later... gwangi32 Posted February 3, 2008 Share Posted February 3, 2008 If I am trapped by the pugs on the couch for something like "Little Women" I usually use that as an excuse for a nap. The dogs suck the energy out of me like little vampires anyway so nappy time is easy to justify. And unless I snore I get away with it. If I try to leave I'll get assigned chores or some guilt trip thing that is the result of my justified flight to another room. However, I have a high tolerance for entertainment. I actually enjoyed "Juno", we went as part of our Anniversary (17th) this weekend. And while I would have preferred "Cloverfield", I enjoyed the movie we saw and found it humorous that I was the only man in the theater. Enchantra Posted February 4, 2008 Share Posted February 4, 2008 You know, I'm not a huge fan of chick flicks myself, however there are a lot worse things you could endure. At least with the chick flick you come out relatively unscathed. Look at it this way, at least your wife thinks of you and wants to spend time seeing movies with you. It could be worse, she could want nothing to do with you. Some day when you are both old and the kids are out of the house you are going to find that moments like these with your wife are ones you'll treasure. Life is to short, and some day when one of you has finally gone to Heaven in old age, you're going to need the memories. I actually placed fourth or fifth at the Monterey Film and Script festival in 2005 with a Romantic Comedy I wrote. When your wife is a Jane Austen fanatic, you begin to appreciate it after a while. That and Jennifer Elle is HOT! Jane Austen I can handle, what is really scaring me lately are the Home and Garden channel marathons she's been watching. The problem with these is that if I choose not to watch them, I find myself embarking on all sorts of new house projects. I'll take P&P any day over the likes of "Spice Up MyKitchen," "Carter Can," and "Design on a Dime." But then, the poor woman has to put up with our boys and I watching "Myth Busters," "Dirty Jobs," and "The Crocodile Hunter," so it all works out to even in the end. At least with a book you get to turn the pages and there are no silly pictures to prevent your own imagination from running wild. And my wifes a filmdirector.
