Feanor
What new additions to your faction would you like in RC 2008? For the Elves I would like a sergeant with a bow we have one non-unique sergeant for crying out loud. Selwyn is our only commander with a ranged attack xcept Larnach but he is a mage thats different . In addittion a few character Centaurs would be really cool a wodland cleric for example. Whats everyone else think?

Whats everyone else think? Personally, I'd like to see some more grunts and adepts based off of other gods than Anubis and Ammat. How about Bast's Cat Warriors, or the Jeweled Falcon come to life to challenge the Elves Giant Eagle. For that matter, since we have Ammat leading her Devourers, how Anubis as a Captain? kristof65
More centaurs for the Elves (a Centaur sub-faction would be nice). A Sisters of the Blade sub-faction list, too.
Gus Landt
Keep the ideas coming! I'm about to start building new data cards for RC 08 this week, and I'll definitely look at the stuff in this thread for inclusion.
kristof65
That's great news Gus. How about a few "generic" cards for different kinds of dragons? I'll have to look through and see what else is "missing" or would make a great addition.
Arbiter10
I'd love to see Elven flying cavalry; something along the lines of warriors armed with long-spears atop giant birds of prey. I'd suggest giant eagles, but that might make them prohibitively expensive since the Giant Eagle alone is a $35 model. So, giant avian, but something a little smaller than the eagle. Oh yeah, the other stipulation is that they can't be more powerful in melee than the Lion's Lancers.
GreyHorde
I'll echo the wishes for an elf sergeant with a bow and more centaurs. I'd also like to see some elf cavalry (royal guards? knights?), especially a unique female captain on a unicorn. Alternative suggestion to the elf flying cavalry idea -- winged elves. Magnificent Egos has a nice (if overly large) one sculpted by Sandra Garrity. Maybe something like that would fill the role of flying cavalry while keeping the model size & cost low. Or how about elf cavalry on a pegasus? Give me a couple of good rider figures and I'll put them on Greycloud and Raindancer. And yes, PLEASE, let's see an official Sisters of the Blade sub-list. I've got 70 models (almost all DHL) on foot - warrior, mage, cleric and rogue -- and 8 on horse. Add some of the newer WL sculpts and I'm ready to build out a really nice group. Gus, PM me if you're open to some suggestions for background/fluff. I've got some notes typed up around here somewhere. I think a dwarf sub-list would be great. Since the elves have Woodland Protectors, maybe dwarves would have Mountain Defenders...?
Spike
You all can rest assured I am lobbying hard for MORE female orcs...specifically a female archer leader. I want to eventually field my own Powderpuff Reven.
spiritual_exorcist
Crusaders: A low-level paladin unit (3-4 damage tracks, DV 11, MAV 5, #MA 2, Tough/1, Healer, Fearless) A Battle nun Hero, something non-standard, perhaps a Poleaxe user similar to an Ironspine but with blades on each end, a variation on the standard two-weapon nun; Kristianna's personal bodyguard. (5 damage tracks, DV 10-11, MAV 6, #MA 4, Deflect/2, Tough/3, First Strike, Frenzy, Warmaster, 360, Raider/4) An Ivy Crown Captain and Sergeant in the Skirmisher mold (The Sergeant could simply be a standard skirmisher with +1 Dis like Gargram or Kharg are to their standard Warrior types. The Crown Captain: 4 tracks, DV 10, MAV 5, #MA 3, Tough/1, Deflect/1-2, Raider/2, Ranger) Opens up the Ivy Crown as a pure sub-faction Dark Spawn: Bloodstone Captain (3-4 tracks, DV 13, MAV 6-7, #MA 3, Trencher, Warmaster, Frenzy, Fearless, Mob Leader/8, Tough/3, Deflect/1-2, Tactician) Create Blood Gnome sub-faction that requires no Warlord and is instead led by a group of powerful, yet constantly feuding Captains always jockeying for position within the Gnomes chaotic society. To reflect this perhaps the maximum number of SGTs must be taken before a second Captain can be fielded, So in order to field a second Captain the Gnomes must first field an initial Captain, and at least 3 Sergeants. May be overly complicated. Elves: Monastic Order Quater Staff or Polearm users (3 tracks, Mov 8, MAV 4, #MA 3, DV 10, MD 11, First Strike, Reach, Warmaster, Raider/2 (Ranger, Woodstrider)) or MAV 4-5, #MA 2 + Frenzy. ‘ShadowDancer’ (Elite or Outrider, or Solitaire, 4 tracks, Mov 8, MAV 6, #MA 2, DV 9, MD 12, First Strike, Warmaster, Deflect/4, Distract, Non-Corporeal, Backstab/2 (Ranger)) ‘Bladesinger’ (Unique Elite) Magic Imbued Warrior capable of attacking with a verbal song (4 tracks, Mov 7, MAV 6, #MA 2, DV 10, MD 13, Warmaster, Raider/2 RAV 5-6, Ranged 6, Blowthrough, Mage 1 / 2, CP 6 (Ranger, Woodstrider)) Necropolis: Ghouls (3-4 tracks, Mov 6, #MA 2, MAV 4, Frenzy, Tough/2, Undead, Ranger) allow these models to use Vampiric Feeding, make them unavailable to Crypt Legion. Overlords: Shade/Shadow Legionnaire (2-3 tracks, Mov 6, #MA 2, MAV 5, DV 10, Deflect/3-4, Tough/3-4, Non-Corporeal, Ranger, Shock, Fearsome, Fearless, Raider/2) Reptus: ‘Ritualized’ (Monster or Elite with Beast, possibly an Outrider) -What about a Reptus Warrior that has undergone some sort of ritual, causing it to manifest/evolve/transform. I’m sorta thinking Reptus meets the Incredible Hulk, so essentially a 54mm overly muscled Reptus carrying two of the Reptus Skullbreaker Maces (By overly muscled I’m thinking in the style of 02706: Clay Golem). Giant Base, 6-7 tracks, DV 15, MD 13, MAV 8, #MA 3 (Fearsome, Fearless, Tough/4, Warmaster...maybe Frenzy?). Reven: Orc X-bowmen (2 tracks, DV 8, MAV 4, #MA 1, RAV 3, critical shot/2) or archers Orc warlord with barbed spear and spiked armor (5 tracks, DV 12, MAV 6, #MA 3, Fearless, Spy, Tough/4, First Strike, Warmaster, Reach, Mob Leader/8, Trencher, Deflect/2, Disable) orc shaman (3 tracks, DV 9, MAV 5, #MA 3, Mage 2/6, CP: 6, Healer, Tough/2) these 3 new cards that would create an entirely new Reven sub-faction representing a group of orcs not affiliated with the standard Grand Reven. Saint Vierzehn
Mercenaries: Mercenary light cav. Something similar to the Ivy Crown Light Lancers. And a cav sergeant to lead them. A mercenary sergeant armed with a crossbow. Something mercenary with SA: Disable. Mercenary scouts. All of the above with neutral alignment. Make Artemis a bowsister sergeant, up her stats (and price) accordingly, and change her alignment to good. Overlords: Merack's MAV is lower than the average onyx phalanx trooper that he commands. And Gus, say "no" to the flying circus. The game is already starting to move in the direction that I've warned you about. Factions that can already field a flying/burrowing unit shouldn't be getting more, and be very cautious about adding more flying/burrowing commanders or flying/burrowing spellcasters. -StV. rgtriplec
The return of Small. Scrye shot as a 75 point magical item. A company upgrade like Totem of Battle that grants +1 to DV. DWARVES – The return of Freya’s throwing ax. I personally rarely used it but it was cool anyway. A Valkyrie sgt, Valkyrie adept would be enough to make an all female dwarf sub-faction. Dire Bears could become adepts in the list and Ursula could lead them instead of Bear Riders. Magic Item – Dwarf Mead: +2 tough and +1DV. Runes of the Mountain God: Spy + Tactician. NECROPOLIS – Needs a cheap melee Warlord. NEFSOKAR – Normally I don’t like fliers but a Horus, solo would be cool. A bull-like female hero like Hathor… I’m aware bulls are male, but a cow-like hero doesn’t have the same intimidation factor. REVEN – A Goblin Spearman. The return of Skralla’s bullet. A Goblin with a Spear. I would give Urga and the Woodcutters: Ranger, Woodstrider and Ridgerunner to make them more appealing and useable. They should be the premiere woodsman of the game. A goblin with a polearm. Raise Kiakara’s CP to 8. A goblin with reach. SISTERS – Make Artemis a Sister over the Spear Sisters. SINHAN – Make Gundor a hero. Give Sigurd a Viking Adept with Shock. Give Dingo some Halflings with the same stats as him but with a lower DIS. I may be wrong, but I've always thought Orba was supposed to have a Mongol feel to him, but yet he has no cavalry which was the Mongols whole thing. So I'd like to see some cav, something like a Khasim Lancer but a little faster with maybe one less track. LUPINES – They need at least two troop types, a sgt and a hero/outrider. I'd like to see some standard base sized lupines, and a troop with first strike.
Gaming Glen
Is there a pegasus on any list? A couple of those for winged calvary might work for the elves. How about a vermin-size model of small faeries/sprites? The model could have 3-5 figures on one base. Continuing this further, add a new spell: Summon (vermin/sprites/rats/other). This would add new vermin sized models to the battlefield for several factions. Same could go for Summon (elemental), using a standard sized model of an elemental. kristof65
Ok, I've been taking a look at some things, and here are some things that seem to be missing and/or ideas for things to add. These suggestions are based on casual observations of the various data cards, and are more from the perspective of someone new looking at the game: Cavalry: While I don't want cavalry to take over the game, several factions seem underserved in terms of cavalry units: - Mercs: Add some generic cavalry figures, and some specific to the Sisters. - Reven: seem to be missing a mounted archer. Some orc based "heavy" cavalry units on some sort of strange beasts would be appealing, too. - Darkspawn have no cavalry at all. Dark Elf Lizard Riders are very popular among WFB Dark Elf players - how about something to appeal to them (although, go for something a bit different in terms of looks or fluff - maybe more of a Taun Taun looking lizard?) Giants/Monsters: - Mercs have nothing on a Giant Sized based. - Overlords and Crusaders have one each, while every other faction has at least two models on Giant bases. - Mercs have no monsters at all, on any size base. Dragons: - There is only one real dragon in the game lists - the Elves Silver Dragon. Reptus have the Hydra and Dragon Turtles - we'll count those as dragons, too. While I don't think every faction needs a dragon, truth is, people like dragons. Please figure out a way to add more dragons to the game, either as generic cards, one for each faction, strctly as Mercs, or something. Sub Factions: There are some groups of models and cards that really need their own sub-factions. - First and foremost are the Sisters of the Blade sub-faction - Dwarves have no sub-factions. I don't have any ideas for a Dwarven sub-faction, but I'm sure the dwarf players around here do. - I think it would be cool if Mercs had a "Town Guard" sub-faction. A primarly humanoid sub-faction focused on defense. - Not sure what faction this would be best placed under, or if it should be more along the lines of Razig's faction, but a Giant based sub-faction would be neat, too. Spells: - I'll second Glen's suggestions for the vermin and elemental summing spells. In fact, I'll expound on it from a business sense - spells that can be used to summon cool models will sell more minis, right? AFAIK, only one spell - Summon Spectral Minions - brings more models to the battlefield. I don't want to see summoned models taking over the game, but expand the ability to the good and neutral spell casters as well. Completely new factions: - Probably not in time for RC2008, but a new faction or two could enhance Warlords appeal nicely. Everyone out here has ideas for new factions, so why not get the fans involved with an Eberron style contest to add a new faction to Taltos? rgtriplec
Giants/Monsters:- Mercs have nothing on a Giant Sized based. - Overlords and Cursaders have one each, while every other faction has at least two models on Giant bases. - Mercs have no monsters at all, on any size base. I agree totally with the merc thing. The Overlords actually have 4 really good monsters, they aren't Giant but they are all pretty tough. Crusaders may not have a Giant but like the Overlords they have several really good solo/monsters. Uriel is arguably the best stat card in the game, my personal favorite.. He has twice killed my giant sized Griffon without breaking a sweat. With that CP 8 he can pretty much carry enough cures to never die. kristof65
The Overlords actually have 4 really good monsters, they aren't Giant but they are all pretty tough. Crusaders may not have a Giant but like the Overlords they have several really good solo/monsters. I figured from a game balance standpoint, that this was probably the case. I haven't looked at the Overlords list at all, and I'm only familiar with the more humanoid figures in the Crusader lists, since that's the direction I'm going with my Crusaders (I build my armies to match units in my campaign world of Iskitaan, so the figs can often double.) The reason I mentioned them though, was from an outsiders standpoint - a new comer can look at most of the GW armies, and find some apparent equivilents across the board - calvary, archers, grunts, monsters, etc. Their game stats may not be equivilent (and frequently aren't), they just have the perception that similar stuff is available to to all armies. For myself, I've found that the Warlord factions seem pretty balanced as is. I'd love to see the mercs get some large monsters **cough**dragons**cough*** but I also don't want things wacked out of balance, either.
