New Datacards

Recommended Posts

Well, I have been perusing the new datacards and comparing them to the old ones, trying to see what is new and improved. As I was looking through the Koborlas faction, I noticed that the Moor Hound was listed as a Monster, yet had Outrider. If it is a Monster, then Outrider is not required. If it is not a Monster, then I assume it was supposed to be an Adept. Just a heads up. ::):

Otherwise, I'll let you know if I find any further issues. ::):

Wild Bill :blues:

Thanks WB! I forgot to remove that 'Outrider' when the Moor Hound moved to a solo and got Champion. :-)

Dang, I spot the exact same error and come here to point it out...and Wildbill beats me. Man, you don't even play Lupines. That's so unfair. By the way, cheers on making the Moor Hound a Solo. I've played him that way for a while now, so I don't have to change a thing.

One thing I want to point out to everyone in case you are too busy looking at the stats to notice...

We have officially added some DHL and Legendary models into the game of Warlord.... a huge step that I want to thank Gus and Reaperbryan for allowing to happen.

It would be easier for anyone if all the changes from 2007 were highlighted.

Just browsed through the Necropolis fraction. In summary, all mages lost their ranged attack and gained innate spells. This is good since you can only cast a spell or make a range attack, not both. Their points are lower. The innate spells simply allow them to take others. The troop size is increased. Railor can take a hero and Lord Gauren can accept two. The skeletal archers dropped 5 points - nice. Wraith Harvester gets First Strike with only 1 point more - wow. The new troops are Zombie Master Queen, Ghast and Ghoul.

Finally, the addition of the Skeleton Spearman from Legendary Encounter is the best move IMO.

Overall, thanks for those who playtested the stats and I like all these changes.

I know a lot of people worked really hard on getting all these revisions done, and new datacards made a tested. Beyond the obvious thanks to Gus, thumbs up to the BL team, playtesters and everyone else involved. I know this was a project that many people were involved in, and I think the game is largely better for all of the input. Now everyone get out there and start using these cards.

I playtested a game the other day with Ross, and I have to say the changes to points cost for archers and Mages have really made combined arms troops far more playable, balanced, and desirable than they were in RC07. I look forward to seeing archers and Wizards regularly on the board again, rather than having the game largely dominated by melee troops and critical shooters. I love alot of the new cards, but truthfully, the changes to those two types of models (archers adn wizards) are the highlight of the new set for me.

Given that the general public is being asked to playtest these beta cards will the new faction special abilities, spell point costs, and item point costs also be released for everyone to start playing with? Especially with regards to Casters in every faction the new spell point costs are pretty important to army builds. I don't feel at liberty to post a link to them, hoping someone more official might be willing to do that.

RC08 Public Beta went up yesterday afternoon. :upside:

HERE

As SE points out, you will find reduced point costs for most spells and equipment. ^_^

So far the only error in the document is that Necromantic Surges was supposed to have dropped to 1 point healed per 5 points of spells (instead of 10). That will be corrected the next time I update the document. Also, the Bloodstone Gnome list has 3 adepts that become grunts: Hoks, Pinners, & Pulgers.

I'm kind sorry to to see that the Lupines are not longer considered Mercs as it kind of screws up my my army. I was using Change of Heart to use Overlord Crossbowmen and I had Sisters of the Blade supplimenting my Lupines. I love the fact that there are more Lupines, I think that I would have prefered that they have a su-faction list as opposed to a complete separate faction. Although who knows, maybe their faction abilities will really make up for the lose of Change of Heart and Scoundrel's Luck. Any idea when we'll get a peek at those, Gus?
