tanker22
This is going to be a big one and very challenging, placed a standard 28mm next to it for scale once agin as I did with the 90mm Andrea I'm still working on. Hope to have that one done as well as the piece I'm working on for Rcon this weekend so I'm getting Natasha ready. Everything is pinned on her right now and will do the base once I'm closer to being done with her. Have to say I wasnt very impressed with the casting, needed alot of clean up and some green stuff to gap fill, still not quite done with that but close. Sculpting is very cool though. Looking forward to starting on her, should be entertaining. Warning!- Linked for nudity, yeah, I'm back at the good ones again Natasha Thanks, Chris
Enchantra
When you finally ascend into the realm of the ring-bearers, we need to make you the god of Nude women and oil paints. Are you going to stick to the box's color scheme or are you going to try something different?
tanker22
You know, I've been thinking alot about the colors I'm going to do for her and am a bit stuck. The thing that keps throwing me is the marshals jacket she is wearing. Normaly I would go with some patent black shiney leather in this case but not sure how the jacket would look like that. Given the sculpt I like the way she is painted in the Pic from the company, seems to work pretty good so was planning on going that rout unless someone gives me an alternative that works. Any input would be appreciated on this and no rush, probably wont even get her primed yet for a few days, still want to finish the others first. Stubbdog
Have a couple of suggestions based on some of Marike's stuff Not the skin color but the overall color scheme works: http://www.destroyerminis.com/display.php?sub=skarrecmon.jpg http://www.destroyerminis.com/display.php?...futurewidow.jpg http://www.destroyerminis.com/display.php?sub=elise.jpg This one is more just to show some colors that work well together: http://www.destroyerminis.com/display.php?sub=icewitch1.jpg
Enchantra
Alright I looked at the links Stubbdog posted. Here's my take on color schemes. Go for something different than the packaging. Different is good. Navy blue marshall's jacket with gold epaulettes on the shoulders. Black corset, black boots, gold/brass colored metal accents. Blonde hair. Don't be afraid to do some freehand on the jacket either. Faux Zuave braiding wouldn't be a bad addition to the decorative repretoire. If you need to know what that is, drop me a message. The other option: Purple and black, blonde hair. Or: Green and black with red hair, no red in the outfit at all. Hat should be the same color as the jacket or black in all options. tanker22
A little bit of an update here. This is more for concept art so you can see where I'm going with her. This represents quiet a bit of work all ready though. Figure since the casting was so bad I spent mayby 4-5 hours on clean up and pinning everything. Then getting the smooth base for the skin took about anouth 2-3. Once again the problem with following up with oils is the base needs to be as smooth as possible or it will show up really bad once I start with them. This had a pretty rough suface and alot of pits even after I took the dremel to it. Decided to go with the purple/ black look for her instead of the standard cover art. This is by no means close to cleaned up or anything, just giving you an idea odf what she will look like. Think I'll go with a dark brown/black for the gloves and boots. If not still leaning twords the purple for her boots at least. Ideas or suggestions? She is going to be a light blond as well with a lighter skin tone leaning on a pinkish side for the showdows I think. The leather is going to be patent I think with a shine on the corset and the boots. Thanks for looking and comments welcome Chris natasha
tanker22
Now that I have the 90mm Andrea done i can start working on this one a bit more. have been feeling a little under the weather as of late and havn't gotten as much done as I would like but did make some progress on her last night. How are the colors looking? About ready to start in on some oils, just havn't really felt like taking the time yet Been kind of messing around with the fishnet on the stockings and think they are going to give me some trouble once I go at them in for real. Seem to bleed over alot and getting the crisp neat look on something this size might be an issue. Suggestions on this? Linked for nudity Natasha Thanks, Chris
Versutus Vulpes
Taanker - The colours look great - I look forward to seeing how the oils will give you more contrast and 'drama'. As for the fishnets - depending on how well they are sculpted in the piece - you could either use a technical pen (micron) or - you can paint the lines and let them bleed - then clean up the lines by painting the larger 'diamonds' of flesh tone over the parts where it bleeds... Either way - I don't envy you the task. But I do look forward to seeing more. Keep up the great work.
tanker22
Thanks for the kick in the head VV I have micro pens and didnt think of that. This cold I have has been giving me painters block lately. The pens should work I would think, time consuming but better than doing it with a brush I would think. Just trying to get up the motivation to start on the skin now. Thanks dude
Enchantra
I second the micron pens. Be sure they are totally dry though before you add in the highlights on the stockings. In the last WIP picture in the link I'm trying to figure out if those are the tops of the stockings on her thighs or where the parts went together. If they are joins, a bit more putty might be in order. The hat and jacket colors are coming along nicely. What shade of purple are you aiming for in the final product? tanker22
Started doing some of the work with the oilsd. Having a bit of trouble though. Using a different brand than I normaly do and it isnt mixing well so I'm going to have to let this layer dry I think before I start on the rest of the highlighting and shading. This is about what the main skin tone will be, the shine is from them still being wet. I'll wait to do some more on the stocking once I get done with the skin, the micro pen should work I think. As for the color on the jacket, I was thinking of a dark purple almost like a deep plum color. What do you think? To dark to go along with the black? Hows this look so far? Versutus Vulpes
Hey Tanker - Glad I could help ;) I think a nice ddep plum would look great - at this scale of a miniature - I think the darker colours will still be able to distinguish themsleves more than on a smaller piece. Then again - I can be an idiot so I'll defer to others when they post their comments. Keep up the good work.
Heisler
Well I like the purple so far and I don't have a problem with it and the black. The skintones are still to shiny for me to make any remarks on them.
PurityThruFire
Awesome so far! Too bad her uniform wasn't a little bit different, you could pull off a whole Ilsa She Wolf of the SS thing.
