Warwick
Is this for real? Is my collection of cool Reaper models going to go to waste? Will my first Warlord army of choice get thrown out like so much trash? What could prompt Reaper to cancel one of the brightest parts of the Warlord game?! I got a lot of people excited about building Freelance armies of whatever they wanted. Samurai armies, Northern barbarians armies, giant insect armies, all-elemental armies. I have plans that will just get thrown away. My To-tanem and Clan War armies...useless. Tell me this is a mistake. Please.
shakhak
What are you talking about? Did I miss something? Where did you hear this from?
Warwick
(sob) Reapershaun said it over in the Reapercon Tournament when I asked him why no Freelance in the tournament. (sniffle) Mommy, what does that mean?
shakhak
(sob) Reapershaun said it over in the Reapercon Tournament when I asked him why no Freelance in the tournament. (sniffle) Mommy, what does that mean? I thought it was common for the 2 or 3 official tournaments to not allow Freelance armies. I am pretty sure they are not going away as part of the game, but are limited in those tournaments.
Warwick
Okay. Thanks, man. I feel better. I need a break. Back in a few.
vejlin
Yeah my understanding is that Freelance will stay in the game and that it's just a tourney rule that disallows Freelance in certain tourneys.
Krztoff
My understanding is that freelance allows for too many cheese lists.
Warwick
I won't even dignify that comment with a reply. Okay, I lied. Yes, in the old rules Freelance got really out of balance, but I never played that style. That's not the case these days that I know of. If Freelance is once again out of balance, I would want it fixed. If fixing isn't possible, then I would support getting rid of them. But we have to know why Reaper would make such a decision. And it would spell disaster for some of my future projects and I wouldn't bother buying models for some cool themed armies. If they yank Freelance but put in a sidebar saying "you can play any way you want with friends" ... that's not good enough. Either have Freelance be a legal army choice so I don't have to argue to get my Samurai army (quite a few Reaper models by the way) into even a casual game, and then defend my win against the "you play Freelance so your army isn't legal" baloney, OR get rid of them once and for all. I vote to keep them. None of my Freelance armies win as regularly as my Mercs or Vamps or Reptus. I give up any FAs so I can pick and choose. It's a fair trade, I think. wildbill
I currently have a Freelance army that I am working on collecting the models for. The army has a very specific theme, and uses models from at least 4 different factions. Will this army win? Well, of course, there is always a chance of a win. I can't control my opponent rolling nothing higher than a 2. But, realistically? No. Why play it? Because all of the models look cool (to me) and I am just jazzed about the theme. But, I'm not telling what it is just yet. So, yeah, if Reaper provides all kinds of data showing that Freelance has won like every tournament everywhere for months, then I will be on board with getting rid of it. But, I doubt that to be the case. Wild Bill

Warwick
Thank your stars you don't have to fight the Smurfettes, Stubbdog. It's not a good night for anyone.

Heisler
I just wanted to take a moment and point out that there is no mention of Freelance at all in the RC08 doc so I'm going to take that to mean that Freelance is still a viable list. Since it is Reaper's show they can pretty much make any decision they want in regards to the tournament itself without affecting the game.
