If you're going through NFL withdrawal like I do everytime this year, this website/game is for you! Its called Goal Line Blitz and its a football MMORPG (kinda). Its actually closer to a sim than a true RPG, but it still looks like its gonna be a blast.

The premise is simple, you sign up, create a player and then manage him during your pro football career. You start out picking your name and position, then you're given 15 points to use to increase your attributes and skills. All players share the same 14 attributes and each position has 8 skills that you improve as you play. You earn XP by practicing and playing in games, then each time you level up, you improve your atts or skills, little by little.

There's another level to the game as well - right now, most of the teams are managed by the CPU, but after you've been playing for a while, you actually have the option of "buying" a team using the in-game credit system. From there, you manage the team just like you would in a Madden franchise league.

The sims are pretty quick, games are simmed every other day, so an entire 20 week season (reg season + playoffs) only takes 40 days. You can put yourself up for trade and switch teams

My immediate goal is to get enough credits to buy a team, then I can sign all of my friends to the same team. If you're interested in playing, join up via this link here and I'll get a referal bonus that can go towards getting the team. http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=331020

The game itself is totally free, although you can spend real money to buy yourself in-game credits if you want to. So sign up, create yourself a player or two and post their names here. Once I get my team, I'll send ya'll contracts!

Chrome - I couldn't get your referal link to work - kept getting a 404.

Couple questions - once you sign up and create a player, what do you actually have to/can do with them besides level up and assign skills? Do you actually "play" them in their games, or is it more management of their careers? Is it heavily graphics based, or somethign I might be able to play from my PDA on the road? The main page wasn't very helpful in answering those questions, and I didn't want to sign up without given you a referal

Sorry I didn't see these posts earlier guys. Kirstof, I just tried the link and it worked for me. The server was extremely slow today during the work day, maybe that has something to do with it. It seems faster later in the evenings.

Its a management deal. Each day you pick the Attribute that you want your player to train in, the Att improves overnight (at midnight) and you gain a few XP. Games are simmed every other day, after which you can view the game stats and even a play by play sim (of X's and O's) to see how your guy performed. So yes, you could run it from your PDA no problem. There's no 3d graphics or anything. Its also not very time consuming. You could spend only 5 minutes on it a day if you wanted to, although I've found myself spending more time there reading the forums and researching how the game works.

LOL! When I read the previous two posts they both said "yesterday" and I wondered how I'd missed them for a day and a half. I didn't realize that it was midnight already. I must have loaded the page at 12:02 or something.

Oh, btw, our current open positions are:

Off - #2 TE, backup QB

Def - SS

Most of the guys already on the team have 2 or more players tho, so feel free to create one guy to fill a gap and then get used to the team and see where you could create a second player. As we progress, some players will naturally get better than others - I'm going to try and find a good balance between starting the best players, yet making sure everyone has at least 1 player starting. (FYI, they give you enough points to create 2 players off the bat, or else create 1 player who costs 200 flex points or less, and level him up one time). Also, as players start to retire, which should take about a year in real time, we'll try and mix things up.

You're set and in the lineup. You're #3 on the depth chart for right now, but its going to be a position battle for the next few weeks. The guy who is #1 right now was already on the team when I bought it. I've let him stay so far, b/c he seems to log in often and track his player, but if he doesn't prove to be active on the forums or interact w/the rest of the team, he'll be gone before too long.

Also, be sure to check the forums out - we have a team forum there.

Offer sent Haldir!

Hey, if you're not going to build a second character, you should Level your guy up before the game. From your home page, click on the "spend/buy/earn" link next to your Flex Points. Then in the "Level up a Player" section, click the "Boost" button, select Mo on your next page and he should be leveled up. Now on Mo's profile page, you'll see a link that says "Skill Points (5)", click it to buy your new stats. I suggest spending them on Special Abilities, those make more of a difference than your attributes do. Plus you can improve your Atts overtime by training, but the only time you can buy new SA's is when you level up.

I've updated the list of needed positions (a few posts up above).

We also need backup players, so if you think this is something that you might enjoy, but you don't have the desire/time to log in every day (for 10 minutes), sign up and just LMK that you're interested in being a backup. You'll still get playing time, but it won't be as neccessary to stay on top of events from game to game.
