RAGE Chronicles 2008 - Data Cards

Any chance of getting the OEM thing fixed? Seems the faction version is supposed to be the OEM, and the Open version is the one with after market parts in it.

Just a thought.

Perhaps I've been staring at cards too long but I have no idea what your asking here?

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer. If your GM breaks down, you want OEM parts for a proper repair.

Non-OEM = can have / probably has after market parts in it. It is no longer totally OEM. Your GM breaks down, you put a Fram air filter in it.

From Wikipedia:

Automobile industry

OEMs are the industry's brand name auto manufacturers, such as General Motors, Ford, Toyota, etc. The OEM definition in the automobile industry constitutes a federally-licensed entity required to warrant and/or guarantee their products, unlike "aftermarket" which is not legally bound to a government-dictated level of liability.

OEMs also apply to component manufacturers, such as Bosch, BBS, NGK, Pagid, Ferodo, etc. Identical products, such as spark plugs, may be supplied though official franchised dealers in appropriately branded packaging (Volkswagen, General Motors, etc). The same product may be supplied through general auto retail outlets (in the UK - Halfords, A1 Motor Stores, etc), or 'trade' motor factors (UK - Euro Car Parts, APD) in the manufacturer's original branded packaging.

Seems like the faction version should be the Original equipment, while Open Market ones can have non-OEM parts in them.

The Thunderbird is still awesome, but now I'm going have to convince people to play much bigger games in order to field them. (Comforting to know that only the Terrans can afford something this expensive.) ::P:

Also, has there been a change in regards to what type of unit can have AA? Kind of curious as the only Terran model that had it no longer does.

Good work that you guys have done so far.

Does the Raptor II still have its AA? If it does then the lost of the AA on the Regent won't be too bad for my Terran CAV Section.

Yes I still haven't gotten Shards yet... Stink gas bill...

For example; The Ritt Rhino should actually be the "OEM Rhino" while the the Open Market one would just be "Rhino".

I think he's saying that as the Original Equipment Manufatcurers, The Ritt should get the OEM Rhino, as opposed to the open market version which is less capable. I supose they had to come up with something to differentiate the 2 versions fo the model.

The LEM designation was the quickest way we had to designate the non faction units their is no plan to change them at this time and it hasn't come up as a issue

Doesn't make sense, but doesn't affect game play either. Just grumble every time I see them - too many years working in and around Detroit, where the wrong usage of OEM can earn you a' lynching......

Actually it kind of does. The OEM Rhino is the original design manufactured by KDM and sold across the galaxy. The Faction Rhino is the upgraded version utilizing the latest in advanced parts which is only offered by to the Ritterlich forces.

You're assuming that OEM is the best way to go, but that's doesn't have to be true in this case.

you've got a good point we had a diffrent view of own when they were first put together. I'm just afraid that changing it now might cause more confusion then it solves so at this time well chalk it up to a game qwerk and move on

I know where your coming from though I had to travle to flint and argue with the rental car folks that yes they did have to get me a specific make of rental car to visit my client
